week 32 : MINIMALISM

Thought this would be a simple and fun shot to go with the release of Rogue One. Thanks to my photo friends Gerald and Christine for the Mug.

Have a great week friends and let me know what you thought of the movie:)

The Ghost & Phantom 2, modified with lots of extra details, including a new roof, a more accurate underside and the original Phantom. The Phantom 2 is changed a bit too, instructions are all here...

.

.

I've added 566 extra pieces to The Ghost and Phantom 2, mostly to the surface with a few sections being rebuilt and the Phantom 2 substantially overhauled. The Phantom 1 is an extra 190 pieces and fits nicely in the docking area. Both Phantoms can also be docked with the original set 75357 build with a very quick and easy modification to the Ghost's roof.

.

Making clear instructions for this mod was a challenge andI've trying something a little different. The instructions start with the complete set and detail which sections to remove, then which of those to disassemble and which to keep. This step takes 10-15 mins and modding The Ghost and Phantom 2 around an hour. On the Rebrickable page there's lots of ZIP files with instructions and invetories to do the Ghost, Phantom 1 or Phantom 2 mods/builds seperately.

.

I've also build an angled stand, pictures of that to follow but in the mean time thanks for looking!

I’ve managed to collect all of the Ghost crew but have been struggling to display them. In the end the amazing 75312 Slave 1 inspired me to try midi-scale and I managed to put this together! She’s 27cm long, 21cm wide, weighs in at 695g and the parts cost is around £85. She’ll holds all six crew (although they’re all sitting and lying down) and I managed to get a sturdy little stand right under the centre of gravity. I’ve also made tiny Phantoms 1 & 2 that can hold Chopper.

Instructions are now on Rebrickable, thanks for looking! rebrickable.com/users/ron_mcphatty/mocs

5 POA again, but it's a nice enough little figure even if some of the paint apps are a tad rough. Close enough likeness of Felicity Jones, her head scarf is removable and she has a working holster. Though frankly that's the least I would expect, even in a 3.75 inch figure.

It's sad that it's come to this after the Golden Age of the Vintage Collection.

These were great fun to put together, especially doing the research (watching Rogue One again!). Free instructions on Rebrickable, enjoy :)

Final version with updated foil system and easy cargo drop.

You can see a animation of the inside mechanism of the foils here.

To put them in landing position you just need to raise the foils (In blue here. Right and left foils are independent).

To put them in fly mode you need to slightly raise the liftarm (red here) while pushing the foils and support the descent.

I'm pleased to present my latest (and biggest) Satr Wars lego moc which takes place on the rebel base of Yavin IV,

don't hesitate to go and see the video about this moc here : youtu.be/I5NQ2_6B2xw

I love this ugly beast, it was surprisingly tricky to get the cockpit and wing hinges right but I loved every minute I spent tinkering. The wings fold and the cargo pod is removable, white sand and azure coastline not included! Instructions are on Rebrickable... rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-67227/ron_mcphatty/micro-zeta-cl...

Again, not much is changed here that I haven't touched on in other photos. The one thing that bothers me is that the grey texture detail on the front of the "shoulder" bits looks a bit too simple.

Here is my small rendition of the Kyber Refinery Outpost on Eadu, complete with landing pad and laser cannon. Hope you all enjoy!

Seeing the Imperial tank in 'Rogue One', and realising that the Empire still used tracked armour, gave me the idea of modifying a Corps! Elite toy to represent a vehicle that, in my imagination, existed just off screen.

This is meant to be a light scout/recon tank, similar to the modern US army's Sheridan or the British Scorpion/Scimitar. In fact, the original toy bore a strong resemblance to both those tanks (despite being fitted with an excessive amount of guns and rocket launchers) and may have been based on them. I find this quite appropriate as the 'Rogue One' Occupier was constructed on top of a Stormer tank built by Alvis, a British company which also makes the Scorpion family of light tanks.

What's today's menu for the outside world, a planet from the Outer Rim, what lies in the end? I guess we'll never know until you reach the destination. Luke Skywalker's X-wing fighter is under maintenance, and supplies are running low.

"Use the force Luke"

A distant remembrance from old Ben. He has a point though, that persuaded Luke not to give up on his dream to become a better pilot.

.

He and this random r2 unit is looking a land speeder, what they got is a three dimensional land speeder with two wheels attached.

"It's not bad to try it I guess"

Luke held the r2 unit at his back, leaning down the bike's back. and started to paddle their way through the gates.

You can see in the background the new ladder design involving minifigure back clips - expect more of that, because I do not feel done with the Yavin ships. Certainly not with Rogue One on the way.

And again, the back is taken from my basic TIE, and again, that is as it should be. :)

After watching Rogue One, I felt like I needed to build something from the movie. This build is not an exact replica, but is inspired by the Jedha Ambush where the extremist rebels attack the Imperial Stormtroopers. After two days of building with a couple of friends, this is what we came up with. Hope you enjoy!
