It's made of solid walnut and has an amazing finish. A work of art no doubt.

bleh. so grainy.

Here’s my Grandmother, Mama Nina, in her rocking chair. It was built by my grandfather some 50 years ago. It's a chair that's been used to rest in, nap and rock babies to sleep; including myself. Every time I go back I make sure I nestle myself in and rock away.

I love him so very much. Him and his bobble and raaawwwrs

I'm currently trying to track down more information on this platform rocking chair.

Le Rocking chair Ro-Ro est une pièce design particulièrement simple et confortable. Son design moderne et efficace en fait une pièce résolument moderne et apprécié dans votre intérieur.

I photographed the headrest of a rocking chair that I got at a thrift store for one of the themes in "113 Pictures in 2013". Theme #70 is Empty.

A bit of photo editing shows that the metal plate isn't entirely blank/empty but I'm going to go with it anyhow. Whatever it vaguely says is empty of meaning to me.

I got this little rocking chair for my third birthday from my Great Aunt Emily. It's about eight inches tall, and I used to have a doll and a stuffed panda (from Great Aunt Sarah at the same birthday) that were the right size to sit in it. I still have the panda, but the doll didn't make the cut when I went through my old stuff.

Tim made a complete mockup of his rocking chair design out of poplar wood - this was to test the design, to custom fit it to the chair's future owner, and to make sure it's comfortable, and rocks smoothly. He made many adjustments to the mockup until he was satisfied. Then he took it apart to use the parts as patterns for the finished chair. He is building the finished rocking chair of mahogany, paduak (an incredibly orange wood) and mango (which has amazing figure in the grain)... This is a shot of the center front of the carve-out seat.

The Simply Fabulous Glider Chair is the modern day rocking chair that provides you with comfort and luxury in absolute style.

Arrived today - a copy of Charles and Ray Eames' rocking chair. Ironically for something which started out by winning a competition for cheap furniture, the chairs today cost many hundreds of pounds from the 'official' manufacturer, and even unofficial copies go over a hundred. I'm pleased to say my chair stayed very true to the affordability of it's designers' intentions :-)

Eames RAR Rocker

Designed by Ray & Charles Eames

The Eames RAR rocking chair with Eiffel tower base and beech runners, was released in 1948.

First presented at The Museum of Modern Art (New York) in the International Competition for Low-Cost Furniture, the moulded rocking chair was the first fibreglass chair to be mass-produced. The RAR’s clean, simple form was sculpted to fit the body. Said to be the most significant furniture design of the 20th century, the Eames RAR Rocker has been put back into production for the first time in more than 30 years. The RAR features a durable and robust fibreglass shell with a deep seat pocket, integrated armrests, high backrest and waterfall seat edge for lounge-quality comfort. The iconic Eames wire base is set atop two beech runners for a smooth rocking motion.

I love this corner of our home. It is in our bedroom and every single night the T.V is turned on for some relaxing time. Sometimes I crochet in bed while watching my favorite shows.

The rocking chair was bought for me by my mom and aunt when I was pregnant with my first baby. Lots of great memories for me. :)
