If you loved the movie, "The Goonies," you will recognize this rock. Quick, 5 points to the first person to name it! :)
So, I recently found out what I sounded like when I was "directing" Flint in this shot...
FLINT! Look here! Look at the camera!! Gooood boy...what a GOOOD boy! Now, look at the ocean! LOOK AT THE OCEAN!! Over THERE! That's it!! GOOOOD BOY!!! Keep looking! KEEP LOOKING!! You're such a GOOD BOY!! That's my boy! DON'T MOVE!! LOOK AT THE OCEAN!! What a good boy you are!!...
Glad there's no soundtrack to go along with this photo, haha!
*A big thank you to "maui bulldog" for helping me get around this beautiful area!

Balanced Rock, Arches National Park, Utah, silhouetted against a stunning sunset sky. An atypical view of this formation, as most people view it from the other, westerly side.
Paul Simonon, punk rock band, The Clash, iconic image from 1979. No I don't remember this but I do remember the artist from last year. She did the black and white of Janis Joplin which was my favorite. She's the only one who works in black and white.

Rainy days lead you to do some funny things sometimes. It has been storming here on the coast all day,had plans for a visit to the mountains to see what I could find, but had to cancel that idea.So I have been sorting and saving old images and came upon some of Lake Cathie that I had taken showing the coffee rock when it was uncovered by huge seas.So I had to produce this panoramic to show you with Lake Cathie in the background, the coffee rock is not visible all the time but chooses to come and go with the seas and tides..
Coffee Rock is formed by sand and shells compressed with rotting vegetable matter over thousands of years and is usually very high in Aluminium ..
Goat Rock Beach off of Highway 1 near Bodega Bay, CA.
Went on a little drive, and ended up just driving out towards the coast and stopping here to hike around, then climbed down a little cliff to a beach that I had pretty much to myself the entire time.
This rock was named the Virgin Rock by early explorers, who could see an image of the Virgin Mary and child in the rock. Weathering has now faded the shape of the child, yet the Virgin Mary is still distinguishable. The local community has installed lights that come on at night and highlight the rock and its features.
One of the great icons of Australia! The Ayers Rock, a.k.a Uluru. Spectacular natural formation smack in the middle of Australia.

Also known as rock badger, rock rabbit, and Cape hyrax, is commonly referred to in South African English as the dassie.

This is one from earlier this year. The rock pipit is a large stocky pipit, larger than a meadow pipit and smaller than a starling. It is streaky olive-brown above and dirty white underneath with dark streaking. It breeds around the coast where there are rocky beaches, and most of the birds that breed in the UK are residents, with only the young birds dispersing once they become independent. Some birds arrive here from Norway to spend the winter (RSPB).

We hit the end of autumn and the chills are due in by the middle of the week. I've got a lot of captures in the temp directory but it's time for the new. I sent the D700 in for repair (I have beat it up pretty good) and cleaning so I am stuck with the D70 but I had to reset all that Ronnie changed but I missed the fine .jpg setting so I came away with the junk instead of RAWs. It might not matter on this batch of the weird. I found Willow Farm on Google maps and made some trips down there and added some more weird captures. This is a zoom on the rock garden. Willow Creek may be the background.
Here is an interesting shot that happened on the shoot. This picture was a twist I've used before; setting the camera's shutter as slowly as I could. The trick I used this time during the exposure was to zoom during exposure as best I could. I am just experimenting but I am getting better at hand held motion at short exposures. I continued to experiment with that. I think that if you can mismatch a double exposures, you can achieve an overlay that would be interesting. The D700 allows for a much great latitude in tricks including all the early Nikkor lenses to 1956. I remember several tries that used D700 multiples but now I am a bit quicker. I need to take a notepad and pencil. Notes would better be left for when I can get a neutral density filter on the lens. I can then even better control the exposure and tricks. Dusk helps. I already posted previous shots that were extremely lucky. I grabbed a couple of slices in Lightroom and dropped them into Photoshop to see what what might appear.
