I think it's a Rock Wren, but I can't be sure. I remember where I took the photo - rock wren territory - in the oak grass at about 700 feet. The reason this has been in storage so long is that as I photographed the tree stump, this little brown bird came in to see what I was up to, and then took off again. Good enough to keep, but not good enough to post. Still, all I am almost positive about is that it's a female, and the trunk is a century old and very dead oak tree.

This was the week before we left for Yellowstone and the Tetons, and I was practicing with my new SX50. It and I performed beautifully in both parks. Instead of a LBB, the first day in Yellowstone, I got six lifers! Too easy, really. Five Mountain Bluebirds in the first hour, and even an Osprey which perched with the sun in MY eyes. And then cross-bills, woodpeckers, grouse... And few people. The park "opened" the day after we left :-)

New Plymouth's Paritutu Rock is the remains of an ancient volcanic crater and it has an almost vertical challenging climbing track on one side leading to 360 degree views from the top.

Seseh Beach, Canggu, Bali

One of the famous beach in Canggu that still undeveloped Pantai Seseh (Seseh Beach ) is rugged and windswept, with dark volcanic sand.

The beach itself is nothing to shout about and locals with gather before sunset to gaze at the waves and the setting sun.

I spent 30minutes walking around the beach looking for some nice spot untill i found this vivid green rock..i was lucky ..there was no body around this spot :D

Have a nice weekend everyone~!

Thanks to the good graces of the Iowa Northern and its great employees, we held a night photo session at Manly on May 30. Approximately 25 photographers were able to catch views like this of Rock Island E6 630 and E8 652. Huge thanks go to Chris Guss, who planned and executed all the lighting for the evening, and Rob Schreiner who provided equipment to turn on the nose lights and number boards.

Thank you all who fave and comment on my photo'/video's,much appreciated

But White Rock seems to much later this year

T4 dropped their manifest at the siding north of town and brought their cut of military vehicles into town as a unit train. Here it crosses over the Rock River, with WAMX 4187 leading 4176 and GMTX 2322

4187 and 4176 are supposed to be shipped off to Agawa Canyon in Canada, so it was worth my time spending my day chasing them

This rock reminded me of a Ship wrecked on the sand.

Thought I'd play about with HDR a little to continue on that good old learning curve. Couldn't get this scene to work from single image (too dark maybe) so decided to blow it out for fun

Got to get away from rocks and beaches!!!

A remote road off of Highway 28 steep and slick, but couldn't resist when February hits a 60 degree day.

Exploring an icy slot canyon in the Canadian Rockies. The patterns of the rock are just so cool when they are coated in frost like this.

Rock

I'm no expert, but this looks like a quartz with bands of iron oxide.

HMM! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for all of your kind comments -- I appreciate them all.

I've been to New Mexico a couple of times and I'm always amazed at the great variety and beauty of natural formations seen throughout.

One more from the Rock Pool at Malibu Creek State Park.

After going here last week, I rewatched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, over Thanksgiving Weekend, and amazingly, it still holds up after all these years.

The cliffs that surround the Rock Pool are where Butch and Sundance made their spectacular leap to evade capture by "those guys," including the one in the white hat, Joe Lefors, and the famous Indian tracker, Lord Baltimore, who wind up following them all the way down to Bolivia.

Located on the shore of Lake Erie in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame attracts more than 500,000 visitors annually. With its glass pyramid design by architect I. M. Pei, the Hall opened its doors in September, 2005. The red, “Long Live Rock” block-letter sign is six feet high and 78 feet long, and was added to the Hall’s main plaza in late 2016.

It was a dreary, rainy day when my wife and I visited the Hall last month, so I’ve amped up the edges and colors a bit with this image. :-) The structure in the background at left is First Energy Stadium, home of the Cleveland Browns professional football team.

"Welcome to the Rock!" I can't help but think of Sean Connery in that movie.

But, it turns out I have never actually been to Alcatraz; this is as close as I have gotten. We stared across the bay and never really considered visiting.

This was my first visit to Smith Rock, so being me I naturally avoided the traditional image and went off the beaten track looking unique compositions. Unfortunately, we had a bit of a tame evening in terms of color, but I really like the mood in this image and the lovely pattern in the foreground rock.

Waiting for a new crew at Rock is this UP ore train on April 10, 1996. I have to say the lead unit was probably the closest thing I ever seen that was nearly a worthy replacement for the C628's that used to ply these rails. 2621 and 2517 will be Escanaba bound as soon as a fresh crew arrives to finish the trip.

I was sitting on the ground of the parking lot watching the Mountain Bluebird pair gathering food for their babies. They spent more time on the ground so I sat down and watched waiting to get a shot. About a minute later, I looked up and this Rock Wren was right in front of me.

I knew Rock Wrens had been seen up there but I was not expecting to look up and see it staring at me. Surprised and delighted me! No calls played.

This is from the rock stacking festival. So, they were doing more than stacking rock. ..lol..Who knew I would find a bench at the rock stacking festival..;) I know you're laughing..;) Anyway, I had a great time. Got a little sunburned. I put some lotion on but I may have waited too long to put it on.

Rock is a great master of life. It teaches us this simple philosophy: Stay firm!
