At Mirror Lake, I found this rock and its reflection perfectly aligned with the towering Half Dome above.

Such endearing little birds. A walk up the Otira Valley Track is well worth it, especially when rewarded with a sighting of this nationally endangered bird. The endemic Rock Wren remains above the bush line throughout its life and is the only truly alpine bird in New Zealand.
Even rocks understand the meaning of love, scars all over this rock. It seams that it had survived rough moments, can't we all try to be a rock for once.

New Brighton Lighthouse, originally known as Perch Rock Lighthouse after the navigation hazard that it marks, came into operation in 1830 and continued as a navigation beacon until 1st October 1973, when it became a victim of modern navigation technology. The tower rises 90ft above the rock, the first half of which is solid. To gain access when the tide is out a ladder is needed to reach the first of the 15 iron rungs built in to the side of the tower that lead up to the door. A spiral staircase leads to the keepers' accommodation consisting of a galley/kitchen, a bathroom, a living room and a bedroom and then up to the lamp room.

The Big Rock is a Glacial erratic from 500 miles north, the Milky way Core of our Galaxy is light years away, yet here they are in the same photo.
The varied geology along the shore of Bunga Beach South in the Mimosa Rocks National Park on the Far South Coast of NSW.
I went on to Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada and came across this nice little sandstone Mojave Desert arch with its generic name.

Split Rock Lighthouse State Park, located on the North Shore of Lake Superior, is known for its historic, picturesque lighthouse and scenic trails along the shoreline. The park was established in 1945 and is a popular destination for camping, hiking, and stunning views of the lake. The lighthouse beacon is lit annually on November 10 to commemorate the sinking of the freighter Edmund Fitzgerald in 1975. This is the only night of the year when visitors can climb the tower after dark to see the lit beacon.

Rock Island Rail GP38 #4310 and GP30 #3024 pulls a string of Tank Cars south through Mattson, MS. on their way to Swan Lake to be interchanged with Canadian National.
According to local legends, the Rock of Cashel originated in the Devil's Bit, a mountain 20 miles (30 km) north of Cashel when St. Patrick banished Satan from a cave, resulting in the Rock's landing in Cashel.[1] According to the Tripartite Life of Saint Patrick Cashel is reputed to be the site of the conversion of the King of Munster by Saint Patrick in the 5th century.[2]
The Rock of Cashel was the traditional seat of the kings of Munster as early as the 4th century and prior to the Norman invasion.[3] In the 5th century the Eóganachta clan built a fortress at Cashel retaining supremacy there for hundreds of years.[4] In 977 Brian Boru was crowned there as king and made Cashel his capital. In 1101, the King of Munster, Muirchertach Ua Briain, donated his fortress on the Rock to the Church.[3] The picturesque complex has a character of its own and is one of the most remarkable collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture to be found anywhere in Europe.[5] Few remnants of the early structures survive; the majority of buildings on the current site date from the 12th and 13th centuries.

The moon rose about 1am and then the cloud moved in
I was grateful that I had most of the night cloud free after some recent battles with fog , my favourite ingredient for sunrises
I recently acquired the Samyang/Rokinon 14mm
It all manual which makes no difference at night but the lens is $2000 cheaper with the same quality glass and considerably smaller and lighter without all the automatic goodies inside
I took two cameras three lenses and two tripods up the steep climb warm clothing food and water .... no time for sleeping
I did some timelapse shooting on one camera and chased other scenes with the other
I have found that it is easier to capture the Milky Way after 11pm as it is a lot lower to the horizon
The results looked good on the LCD so I couldn`t wait to have a look and put a pano together well after a good sleep
