Isildur, King of Gondor: After the Battle of Dagorlad, Isildur brought the ring to Mount Doom, with Elrond. Instead of throwing it into the lava, Isildur was possessed by the ring and took it for his own.

Tom Bombadil: Although he never found the ring, he wore it briefly when Frodo and his friends came to visit. The ring had no effect on old Tom, who was not possessed by it.

Sméagol (And Déagol): Sméagol, also later known as Gollum, was fishing with his cousin, Déagol, when the latter found the ring where Isildur had dropped it. Sméagol killed Déagol after becoming obsessed over the powerful ring.

Ringed Plovers / charadrius hiaticula. Northumberland coast. 12/04/25.
'NEST DUTY CHANGEOVER.'
The female Ringed Plover had just moved in from the left, relieving her mate from nest duty. This image was made at the moment she had settled down to incubate her single egg. You may be able to make out ruffled feathers to the side of her brood patch and the edge of the egg under them.
The male made his way a short distance down to the edge of the sea. There he took time preening, then resting.
NB: All images in this set were made looking down at the nest site, over a shoulder high wall. The birds were not disturbed in any way.

Ring Ouzels are the upland-dwelling cousins of Blackbird. But while Blackbirds are happy to share a garden with humans, Ring Ouzels are notoriously wary. I chanced upon a flock of fifteen Ring Ouzels, but no sooner had I spotted them they scattered. So I sat quietly and waited, and eventually one or two perched in a nearby hawthorn bush allowing me to take some pleasing photographs. This one was backlit against a land background but beautifully isolated. He's a male, identified by his black (not brown) plumage and his clean white gorget. Incidentally gorget comes from the name of the breastplate in a suit of armour. One thing I noticed on this bird were his stripy leggings. I have so many shots of this area that it has been an inner struggle for me to pick just one that I want to post. After narrowing it down to a 10 stop at sunset vs. this night time shot, I chose to put this one up. There is just such a strange marriage of events that slaps the face of reality. The scene was very well lit despite the fact that the sun had set about 20 minutes prior to this. There is an uncanny effervescent glow that stretched across the horizon. City and pier lights warmed up for the night shift. Camera detail is really crazy. You can see the traffic lights all the way in the background change from red to green. The moon decided to make an appearance and the flowers had enough light from the houses behind me and a pathway to the left. The glow was faint to the naked eye but was perfect for the effect I wanted. The clouds even look peculiar like little twisters. There's also a strange sheen on the water. Bizarre scene all around. I'm sure I'll eventually put up all the shots I have of this place but this is all for now. Thanks for looking, commenting, and critiquing.

I'm continually amazed at how life will not be denied. No matter what anyone does to a landscape, life always returns.
This ring and chain are left over from a steel mill site in Pittsburgh PA. USA. These were used to hold barges in place while being unloaded. This wall is now part of a riverfront park on Pittsburgh's South Side.
I was out on the moors this week and I spotted this female Ring Ouzel feeding on the edge of a grassy track. They are typically skittish and this one was no exception as she flew off as soon as I pointed a camera at her. I thought I had missed her but when I checked the camera later this was on there. They are cousins of Blackbird but inhabit mountains and moorlands. They are also migratory, wintering in the Atlas Mountains of North Africa where they feed on juniper berries. They differ from Blackbirds particularly in the pale crescent across the breast, which is white in males and sullied brown in females. They also have subtle pale edging to their feathers creating a hair-net pattern on their bodies and a whitish panel in the wing.

Jesus came to bring spiritual LIFE to the spiritually dead and set the captives FREE! FREE from RELIGION, ERROR and outright LIES, so WE might serve THE LIVING GOD! In SPIRIT and in TRUTH!
So you'll KNOW, and not think you're to bad for God to love. The Christian LIFE isn't about how good WE are, because NONE of us are! It's about how GOOD JESUS IS! Because JESUS LOVES US, so much he died in our place and took the punishment for all of our sins on himself. The wages of sin is DEATH, and Jesus took the death WE so richly deserved for us and died in our place. The good news is, there's no more punishment for sin left. WE, you and I were all born forgive as a result of the crucifixion of God himself on the cross that took away the sins of the whole world. All we have to do is believe it, and put your Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. That my friends is REAL UNCONDITIONAL LOVE! YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️ ✝️ ❤️

Ringing Roger, Peak District, UK

On my way back, I stopped at Ringing Roger. The light was constantly changing. I liked this one with Grindslow Knoll in shadow and the light on the right helping define the foreground rocks.
The name Ringing Roger. We don't know for sure how it got its name. Most likely, Roger is a corruption of the French word for rock: Rocher. This seems likely as there is also a Roaches in the Peak District, perhaps a corruption of Roches (the French word for plural – rocks). The Ringing part is thought to be description of the sound of the wind up there.
