This dramatic geologic rift, near the boundary between Banff and Jasper National Parks, is traced by the Icefields Parkway.
This view, from a pullout alongside the highway, is likely one of the most photographed views in the parks. In fact, I posted a similar view on Flickr myself after snapping it in 2013. But there are some scenes that you just cannot resist photographing!
I liked the look of the contrasts and clouds best in black and white using a yellow filter in Lightroom.

Another night of sky gazing! The Great Rift barely visible with the lights from town behind the tress.

Another shot of the Great Rift taken at Ross Castle, Killarney. Amazingly clear despite being just 1km from the town.
One is mine and it ain't the Merc ! The Mercedes I think is a 300 SL about 1987 and with a nearly 3 litre engine . The Rifter is a Peogeot GT Line model and with lots of room for wheelchair and bits etc .

Designed by Atkins, the award winning Walton Bridge replaces an old, life expired crossing, while providing the Walton-on-Thames area with a modern landmark.
A steel thrust arch structure with a steel-concrete composite deck, Walton Bridge is the first road bridge in the UK to be wholly designed and fabricated to the final Eurocodes and Euronorms. Our bridge designers used the advanced provisions within the Eurocodes to improve the economy of the design, saving the project money.
The final design makes use of a hexagonal shape to give the bridge a unique appearance with contrast in light between the top, side and bottom faces. The suspended deck is a slim 600mm steel-concrete composite ladder structure edged using J shaped girders to give a clean external appearance. The removal of the crown bracing opens up the appearance of the bridge seen by road users and helped to improve construction.
Officially opened in July 2013, the new Walton Bridge is providing a vital link between Walton and Shepperton for the 35,000 vehicles, 200 pedestrians and 400 cyclists that use it each day.

I should really take her out and take more pictures of her but asdfgh I honestly CANNOT take Calliope off of this body. ;A; Like, you don't understand. I freaking adore Euclid and really want to give their body back and it would be cool to swap Rift on it too for more pictures but I CAN'T. I CAAAAAAN'T. HNNNNNG. THE BEAUTY. THE FEELS. TOO MUCH. T3T Anyway, on a related yet side note; still contemplating on exactly what I want to do for Rift's hair. I can't decide on what color(s) I want or the style. Part of me says long and the other short and then part of me says black and red and the other part of me says pink and blue so asdfghjkl OTL
I think i'm going to sketch out some concepts and see where it goes from there~ Luckily she's not a major focus for me right now and I don't mind taking figuring her out slowly. c: I haven't had any desire to part with her though so that is great! It may be a while before I can really work on her more but for now i'm still very happy to keep her around~

Rift (girl) is a modded Fairyland Minifee FLAM event head in Beautiful White skin. Faceup, mods, tattoo and flower crown by me.
The Golden Waterfalls (Gullfoss) are situated in the upper part of River Hvita. The water cascades down two steps, one 11m high, and the other 22m, into the 2.5 km long canyon below. Here you can see the lower falls drop into the rift between the two continental plates.
Looks best on black.

The mountain bike is a 1998 model, still going strong. I've changed a few items over the years such as front forks as the originals failed and larger front sprocket to raise the gearing slightly.
This was created using a piece of drift wood in a glass ashtray. Mirrored, Drama and HDR filters applied for effect.

For a while, we were pretty sure there was a brief rift in the space-time continuum. Clearly, that was a volcano and clearly, it was erupting. And since we knew we hadn't left Colorado, the only explanation was that we were looking into another time. The illusion was temporary, a mile down the road and things didn't line up anymore but it made for a cool time warp.
That was an interesting day.

Summer 2014 2nd leg: "Getting High"
July 9: Stopping at every pullout at Black Canyon of the Gunnison's south rim; getting through Grand Junction unnoticed; setting up camp at Fisher Towers.
Went out this morning to Turimetta. There was a nice amount waves washing over Turrimetta rock shelf so I wanted to try some extra long exposures. I tried a few up to 10 minutes. In the end settled on this 3 minute long exposure which had the most amount of colour in the sky due to a small crack 'Rift' in clouds.

One of the most beautiful northern light displays occurs when the auroras are directly overhead. This is known as a coronal (or crown aurora) display. The scale of this particular image is staggering - the entire Big Dipper constellation is visible in a small section of the photo... see if you can find it.
