mikes mom gave me this old filing drawer thing and it has come in handy. i cant pick what color i want to paint it. teal maybe? on top is some cute stuff i have thrifted and glass jars i have reused and made into pencil cases and picture frames all at the same time!
Unlined linen snack bag. Easy to stash in your bag. French seams keep the inside of the bag nice and neat... no loose threads falling off the seam edges into the crackers.

Pattern from u-handbag. I used home decor fabrics for this. The shoulder straps are nicely padded using fusible fleece. Reversible.
I made this reusable dishcloth using Australia cotton in a moss green colour.
It can be used as a wash cloth in the bath, a dish cloth or for general cleaning, then you just pop it in the washing machine :-) It sure beats disposable cloths!

I had wondered for a while what to do about this lamp. Of course I could have just bought a new one - but how much fun is that?
I made this because I wanted a reuseable shopping bag that could fold up neatly and not get tangled up with all my worldly possessions in my ever-unruly everyday bag. I love how useful it is to have around, and I love how more and more people are getting used to the idea of people carrying their own reuseable bag. Fewer people give me funny looks these days!

Dear son of mine!
I wanted to tell you a little something about why the earth need us to think green thoughts. The nature around us is beautiful and I really want it to be like this for a really, really long time. That's why I try to teach you to recycle what can be recycled, reuse what can be reused and reduce the amount of stuff we have, because we don't really need all the stuff do we? No, really, we don't! I hope that you one day can be proud of me and understand why I think it is so important to try and do as much as we can to make sure we don't harm the nature of the earth just because we want thing right here and now - or we want to earn some quick bucks. We try to make it an everyday thing in our house, I hope that when you grow up this is an everyday thing for you too:

This was reused for the Benedictine cardinal Nicolò Tedeschi (d. 1445). In the centre of the front panel is a priestess wearing a tiara or headband and a palla (cloak). She has a fish (?) in her hand. On her right is a man wearing a tunic and a toga. He is holding a papyrus. Behind is a woman leaning on a stick and in front of her is a vase with a bird. Proper disposal of used cooking oil is an important waste-management concern. Oil is lighter than water and tends to spread into thin and broad membranes which hinder the oxygenation of water. Because of this, a single litre of oil can contaminate as much as 1 million litres of water. Also, oil can congeal on pipes provoking blockages.
Because of this, cooking oil should never be dumped in the kitchen sink or in the toilet bowl. The proper way to dispose of oil is to put it in a sealed non-recyclable container and discard it with regular garbage.
Cooking oil can be recycled. It can be used to produce soap and biodiesel.
Used local Virginia FSC timbers from www.NatureNeutral.com and reused our old roof sheathing as wall/ceiling paneling.

Bird feeded. Out of a plastic bucket. =) In Nova Scotia, the bucket would have been recyclable, but here it's not. So it's nice to see it put to use!
i had felted swatches hanging around and decided that something should be done with them. my stitching leaves a lot to be desired but i do think that in concept they're kind of cute.
