Broad gauge suburban 'Redhen' railcar no.430 arrives at the inner suburban station of Bowden working an Adelaide to Grange TransAdelaide service during May 1989.
The station building dates back to 1856 and in recent years has been renovated and in 2015 operates as a cafe/restaurant.
Cleaning, rebuilding, and recalibrating a classic Zenit E with some generous donations from a slightly rusted early-model EM.
One important modification I made while swapping the meters was to bend the meter's match-needle up closer to the top window, so it's actually readable! Also fixed a mysteriously damaged aperture pin in the Helios, so the auto diaphragm works reliably now!

ROD 2004 is seen plinthed at Richmond Main Colliery following a recently completed static restoration.
2004 was one of a 521 strong type of 2-8-0 steam locomotives constructed between 1917 and 1918 and saw service mainly hauling military supply trains in France.
Following the conclusion of Word War 1, the majority of the class returned to Britain to assist the railways while the 'native' engines underwent overhaul and repair after prolonged wartime pressures had a severe impact on the railway system.
In the 1920's the J&A Brown company purchased 13 ROD's directly from the War Department to replace its somewhat eclectic collection of older mismatched motive power on the Richmond Vale Railway network.
These engines gave sterling service until 1973 when the last engine was withdrawn from traffic to be replaced by former South Maitland Railway's 10 class locomotives.
2004 (J&A Brown Number 23) is now one of only 3 ROD locomotives surviving in the world today, the other two also reside in Australia.

Wasn't sure what I was going to snap for this theme. However, I just happened to be visiting St. Botolphs church near Steyning, West Sussex and spotted this little statue of Jesus on a windowsill.
The 90/6.8 Optar arrived today! Installed, mounted the bracket, and it's ready to shoot. Hyperfocal focusing; stopped to f/22, I have about 6' to infinity in sharp focus. Used with ISO400 film, it's an effective 4x5 point-and-shoot. Have a couple Grafmatic holders on their way. Until then, regular film holders give me two shots.
Made from mahogany through mortise-and-tenoned, a Graflok, and 1/8" ply rigid nosecone. Based on plans from Sandeha Lynch.

In Egyptian mythology, Khepri is the name of a major god. Khepri is associated with the dung beetle (kheper) or scarab, whose behavior of moving spherical balls of dung represents the forces which move the sun. To explain where the sun goes at night, such pushing was extended to the underworld, Khepri's pushing of the sun being ceaseless.
Since the scarab beetle lays its eggs in the bodies of various dead animals, including other scarabs, and in dung, from which they emerge having been born, the ancient Egyptians believed that scarab beetles were created from dead matter. Because of this, they also associated the Khepri with rebirth, renewal, and resurrection. Indeed, his name means "to come into being". As a result of this, when the rival cult of the sun-god Ra gained significance, Khepri was identified as the aspect of Ra which constitutes only the dawning sun (i.e the sun when it comes into being).

Face art symbols? Um, yes please. I am just slightly obsessed with Egyptian culture, so I was very excited to try my hand at a scarab symbol. I actually just got this really rad scarab necklace the other day too. Fascinated with the symbolism of creation and transformation. Anyways, here you go. I've got a couple outtakes in the comments. A little different for me, but they were fun to process. :)
