Mark Knopfler -- Restless Farewell

Oh, a false clock tries to tick out my time

To disgrace, distract, and bother me

And the dirt of gossip blows into my face

And the dust of rumors covers me

But if the arrow is straight

And the point is slick

It can pierce through dust no matter how thick

So I'll make my stand

And remain as I am

And bid farewell and not give a damn

Walking alongside a country brook, we came upon this gathering place. I imagined the group of restless teenagers that may have carved out this nook in the forest as their own to enjoy the warm summer nights.

Lots of stuff going on in life, Photography is coming to the forefront, which is where it should have stayed.

Hello 2017. I'm making some big strides in a few areas which have originally held me back. I'm going to make a severe career change and follow my dream of photography. i've tried to bury it for 5 years, enough is enough.

Here's to the reemergence of Petey Photography!!

Met up with good buds this afternoon to do a shoot for their new lineup. We found some spots in Chicopee that fit the clean and simple look they're going for. Super stoked on how they came out and it felt great to get behind the camera again. Alienbee's are going strong!

A recently new art piece by artist Pae White titled "Restless Rainbow" is such a creative installation which uses the Bluhm Family Sculpture Terrace in a very unique way. The viewer immediately becomes immersed in a world of lines, textures and colors

As David says, "The music is filled with longing, and the weight of searching the dark for a pathway to peace and salvation. The music rises and falls, always restless until a climax is reached, and then, little by little the darkness vanishes and the soul is at peace." Perhaps that is what many of us find ourselves searching for at this present time.

I want spring to come already!

The first of my Bowra photos and probably the best is this chirpy bird which lives near the shearer's quarters. I couldn't decide on shots so am posting two.

It is a friendly bird and sat on my car mirror when I first pulled up although these shots were taken a few days later from a hide near the lagoon (thank you very much Brian!).

Some more experienced people than I thought this bird had more rufous on the chest than usual and that that was a characteristic of Bowra RF's. The books say the rufous colour on the fine tips of new plumage gets worn off in a short while so maybe this is it's brand new clothes!

In my restless dreams, I see that town. Livonia. As the cold snow melts and temperatures warm up, a heavy fog resulted, draping itself across southeastern Michigan. It was particularly bad Tuesday night. Regardless of the conditions, the rumble of a 16 cylinder GE prime mover and K5LA horn fills the air while golden headlights slice through the evening fog. Soon the sight of a CSX autorack train came into view, moving west through Livonia, Michigan.

Thousands of sheep, soft-footed, black-nosed sheep--

one by one going up the hill and over the fence--one by

one four-footed pattering up and over--one by one wiggling

their stub tails as they take the short jump and go

over--one by one silently unless for the multitudinous

drumming of their hoofs as they move on and go over--

thousands and thousands of them in the grey haze of

evening just after sundown--one by one slanting in a

long line to pass over the hill--

I am the slow, long-legged Sleepyman and I love you

sheep in Persia, California, Argentine, Australia, or

Spain--you are the thoughts that help me when I, the

Sleepyman, lay my hands on the eyelids of the children

of the world at eight o'clock every night--you thousands

and thousands of sheep in a procession of dusk making

an endless multitudinous drumming on the hills with

your hoofs.

"Sheep" --Carl Sandburg

This herd was being moved from the high elevation Marksagunt Plateau(shared in part, by Zion NP) to lower elevations where they will spend the winter. The Marksagunt is home to Mountian Lions, Coyotes and recently, California Condors. Each has an interest in the presence of the vast herds which spend the summer here.

And yet I'm fast asleep.

It's time for a change.

Nothing to do but scuff down

the graveyard road behind the playground,

past the name-stones lined up in rows

beneath their guardian pines,

on out into the long, low waves of plains

that dissolved time. We'd angle off

from fence and telephone line, through

ribbon-grass that closed behind as though

we'd never been, and drift toward the bluff

above the river-bend where the junked pickup

moored with its load of locust-skeletons.

Stretched across the blistered hood, we let

our dresses catch the wind while clouds above

dimmed their pink to purple, then shadow-blue—

So slow, we listened to our own bones grow.
