New electronic message signs have been installed on the Virginia side. Signs are to be used in case of emergencies or for fog warning, which is common here.

The Iredell–Yadkin County northbound I-77 rest area was opened in 1972. It holds 38 cars, 6 cars with trailers and 11 trucks.

One of the things my wife, Becky, wanted to do on her birthday was hunt down as many remaining Tour de Lincoln bicycle statues around town as we could still find. There's a suprisingly large number of them still around, considering it's been 5 years since they first appeared in 2003.
Just before the Heath Creek Rest Area (south of MN Hwy 19) is what I believe to be the first distance sign that shows the mileage to the I-35W/I-35E split in Burnsville.
This is the northbound rest area on interstate 55 just north of Springfield, IL. At this point Sue is inside where all the lights are. She said it was freezing in there and they had a ceiling fan going like crazy. Said she froze her *** off.

This is where you end up if you head out of Sioux Falls in the evening and drive West til morning. Nice way to greet the day.
Sprain Ridge Park's 278 acres include two picnic areas. The remainder of the park is heavily wooded, with a variety of hiking and mountain bike trails.
Sprain Ridge Park is named for its location on a ridge between the northbound and southbound lanes of the Sprain Brook Parkway.
Throughout the entire trip, Seattle to Jacksonville and back, we were extremely lucky with the weather. On the radio, we heard about severe thunderstorms on one side and heatwaves on the other. And as we made our way across the continent, so did the weather - leaving us in a perfect little pocket right between the extremes. Though we did get to see several huge storms in the distance. Here's one that's about to begin. Shot in Wyoming.

We stopped at a rest area in South Dakota, the one with the sign that said "beware of poisonous snakes" and they had a lot of cool things around it including this concrete tepee (or tipi).
