Moon in original resolution (no interpolation), but cropped really tight.
Shot with quite some tricks ...:
- Cheap superzoom (Tamron 18-270) on 270, mounted on a crop body (gives the feeling of 430 mm)... my longest lense
- Liveview (as good as mirror lockup to suppress the mirror flap)
- Focused with contrast AF, some shots also manually on the basis of the 10x zoomed liveview display
- Image stabilization turned off
- Selftimer on 10 sec (2 sec seemed not enough ...)
- Sharpest aperture (so-called critical aperture), that's f/8..f/10 for that lense (see www.slrgear.com
- Shooting raw ...
- All settings done manually to try different exposure times aso. The moon wanders quite fast .-)
- Post process: some masked sharpening
Taken after my third consecutive day of running. A great way to start the New Year. BTW, my resolution isn't to exercise more.
Resolution - Become stronger! (Well, more fit)
Background time!
My 2011 goal was originally to become more fit and I (sort of) accomplished this by going to a gym.
Now that I think that I'm a bit fitter, I've decided to tweak my 2012 goal to becoming stronger!
This shall be accomplished by lifting heavy things, and putting them back down ;)
Sidenote: This shirt is just for lols. One of my gym buddies gave it to me for Christmas....as you can tell, I have troubles following the simplest instructions ;)

This is me using our ab roller. One of my resolutions was to do some kind of physical activity five days a week. I know that sounds like a really wimpy goal, but I've been crazy lazy for a long time. :)
I figured that doing anything was better than doing NOTHING. I've had some pretty good success with this goal. Steve and I like to watch "Everybody Loves Raymond." I've been using the ab roller, doing bicep curls, and doing other simple exercises while we watch. I don't get bored if I'm watching the show. Hopefully I keep up the good habit.
The New Year's Resolution: It is something that everybody does each year at the actual beginning of another January to imply the beginning of another multi day cycle, just to be forgotten inside half a month.

Na twee eenzame maanden in Drenthe vertrok Van Gogh begin december 1883 naar Nuenen, waar zijn ouders op dat moment woonden. Hij trok bij hen in en werkte aanvankelijk thuis, maar na een half jaar vond hij een geschikte ruimte elders in het dorp.
Net als in Drenthe, schilderde hij er de woningen van de plaatselijke landarbeiders. De hier weergegeven hut bestaat uit twee woningen onder een kap, is deels gemaakt van leem en heeft een dak van stro. Dit type stond op het punt te verdwijnen, en Van Gogh legde het juist om die reden vast.
Having spent two lonely months in Drenthe Van Gogh left for Nuenen in early December 1883. He moved in with his parents, who were living in the village, and initially worked at home for six months until he found a suitable studio elsewhere. As in Drenthe he painted the homes of the local peasants. The cottage in this painting accomodates two semi-detached dwellings. It is partially made of daub and the roof is thatched. This type of building was on the verge of disappearing from the countryside, which is why Van Gogh chose to record it.

Turbine installation vessel Resolution moored downstream from Tower Bridge during a courtesy visit to the Port of London.
The vessel is used for installing turbines at wind farm projects around the British coast. She had been working at the Kentish Flats wind farm near Herne Bay.

The great thing about the epic landscape is that it presents an entirely different universe from season to season, from day to day, from hour to hour, from second to second, with the ever changing wind, tides, clouds, and sun. A split second with tumbling surf or a dancing desert dust devil and a sinking sun can make a vast different, resulting in entirely different photographs.

I'm experimenting with upsizing some Nikon D800, D800E, & D810 HDR photographs to the 8288 x 5520 or 8256 x 5504 resolution of the Nikon D850! The Pixel dimensions of the Nikon D810 are 7360 × 4912 pixels. The D810's pixel width of 7360 pixels is about 90% of the D850's pixel width of 8256 pixels. Thus, at 90%, it would be hard to tell the difference between photos taken with the two Nikons, except in the very largest prints perhaps! The D810 has 36.3 megapixels or 36 megapixels, while the D850 has 45.7 megapixels, or 46 megapixels.
