"If you are tempted to criticize the size, resolution or quality of this image ~ please don't ~ I used a Sony Mavica Digital (sub-megapixel) camera, which was State of the Art in 1999 ~ Digital Cameras have since come a long way"
(318helicopterridesnicinv)
This was MVC-318 done about 2005 or 2004. I inverted the picture which is not too out of the ordinary for any photo, but I also did something that is unusual. Sony Mavica had the choice of taking the picture with *Solarized*. Sony's Solarized is substantially different than my photo program's Solarized. I distinguish between the two by calling one SIC and one SNIC, solarized in camera and solarized not in camera. This one was SNIC. If it had been SIC, I would not have been able to turn it back into a picture like the one right before this. If someone wants both a SIC and a non-SIC picture with their Sony Mavica they need to shoot the same scene with two different shots and settings.

So, the year is about to end...this was an interesting and powerful year to me, this year I:
-Finished Law School
-Started Post-Graduation (I don´t think that´s the correct name of it in English, but, oh, well)
-Had my pictures in those places:
1 Photo Exhibition
1 Dutch Grammar Book
1 Band´s stage
1 Student´s work
1 Wedding (Yes *lol* I was amazed by that, and I wish someday I can see the picture of it)
And soon in another Photo Exhibition and the picture of the month of a Catholic website (When the picture displays there I´ll search for the correct address and give it to you)
-On Flickr:
176 contacts (from those I currently talk/comment/share emotions) with…probably,
25 of you, those I am talking about knows who they are and (I hope so) knows how much I love you.

French painter Maurice Denis (1870-1943) was one of the leading artists during the transition from Impressionism to Modern Art. He was heavily influenced by the Symbolist works of Paul Gauguin. Denis would paint with rich colors and experiment with warm and cool colors. Some of his theories have become the foundations of cubism, fauvism, and abstract art. We have digitally enhanced his beautiful and colorful artworks, free to download and use under the CC0 license.

High resolution original paintings from one of the most highly regarded French Impressionist painters, Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841–1919). The young Renoir struggled with his family’s financial circumstances so he left music school and started out as an apprentice at a porcelain factory. While he studied art in Paris, he befriended the young impressionist painters: Frédéric Bazille, Claude Monet, and Alfred Sisley. In the 1870s, Renoir became one of the leading painters in the Impressionism movement. His lively paintings mostly celebrated the beauty of feminine sensuality. We have gathered over 200 of his paintings from the public domain. Enjoy these high resolution public domain paintings. Download for free under the creative commons 0 license.

My fine art photography graces my physics books!
Regarding the award-winning physicist Dr. Elliot McGucken at Princeton University, the late John Archibald Wheeler stated, "More intellectual curiosity, versatility and yen for physics than Elliot McGucken's I have never seen in any senior or graduate student. . . Originality, powerful motivation, and a can-do spirit make me think that McGucken is a top bet."
Dr. E would go on to heal the blind with his NSF-funded, award-winning Ph.D. dissertation which also laid down the foundations of Light Time Dimension Theory. Over the years, LTD Theory added foundational *physical* postulates, principles, and equations en route to becoming numerous books, with this one forming the simple, illustrated introduction.

The great thing about the beach is that it presents an entirely different universe from season to season, from day to day, from hour to hour, from second to second, with the ever changing wind, tides, clouds, and sun. A split second with tumbling surf and a sinking sun can make a vast different, resulting in entirely different photographs.

Resolution Dental (7,488 square feet)
1194 Big Bethel Road, Hampton Woods Plaza, Hampton, VA
This business opened in September 2014 and closed in 2021; it was originally a Hollywood Video, which opened in November 1997 and closed in May 2010. Part of the space became Morrison Dental Group on December 19th, 2022, while the remainder became Atlantic Periodontics & Implants in August 2023.
It's that time of year again... New Year's resolutions need making. So, here goes:
1. Make more time for my hobbies. Including photography. I want to join in with We're Here more often too, so this photo is for today's theme of Walking. Also - new hobbies, like papercutting, and older ones like crochet - in 2018 I WILL make more time for the things I enjoy.
2. Be healthy. I did ok last year, but I can do better. I'm going to walk whenever I can, instead of driving, and get out to run regularly too. I'm not going to enter loads of races though - no pressure this year.
3. HAVE FUN.
Happy New Year everyone!
Three-dimensional atomic-resolution tomographic imaging requires analyzing a microscopic sample viewed from several directions, followed by a computerized reconstruction of the sample’s 3-D atomic structure. Such an exacting process has eluded researchers for decades, but is now possible with the Transmission Electron Aberration-corrected Microscope (TEAM) Stage. It holds and positions samples inside electron microscopes with unprecedented stability, position-control accuracy, and range of motion.
The technology was developed by Thomas Duden, Nord Andresen, Rich Weidenbach, and Andreas Schmid of Berkeley Lab’s Engineering and Materials Sciences Divisions. Scientists from Attocube Systems, FEI Company, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign also contributed.
The TEAM Stage will make one of the world’s most powerful electron microscopes even better, and enable previously impossible experiments. Trial-and-error detection of defects in a thin-film nanocrystal solar cell material may be minimized; and the fabrication of new biomaterials for longer-lasting artificial bone implants may be facilitated.

Obviously this picture isn't anything special but I have been wanting to publicly state some of my goals for 2010. I don't make resolutions because resolutions never work out. Goals, on the other hand, you can work toward. If you don't quite meet a goal, you've still made progress. If you don't "keep" a resolution, you've failed.
I meant to come up with 100 Goals but so far I've just broken 50:

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880–1938) is one of the most important German Expressionist painters. He was a co-founder of Die Brücke, a group of German expressionist artists formed in Dresden in 1905. Die Brücke and Kirchner took inspiration from Vincent Van Gogh and Edvard Munch, as well as African and Oceanic art. They used woodblock printing as a medium to showcase their signature style: flat, unrealistic images with vivid colors. The recurring themes in Kirchner's artworks include exotic cultures, faraway landscapes, self-portraits, dancers and Berlin street life. His paintings and prints effectively portrayed non-European cultures despite the fact that he never traveled outside of Europe. We have digitalized enhanced more than 100 of his fascinating drawings and paintings under the CC0 license in this collection.

The 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Display delivers an amazing 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution. Designed specifically for the creative professional, this display provides more space for easier access to all the tools and palettes needed to edit, format and composite your work. Combine this display with a Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, or PowerMac G5 and there's no limit to what you can achieve.
The Cinema HD features an active-matrix liquid crystal display that produces flicker-free images that deliver twice the brightness, twice the sharpness and twice the contrast ratio of a typical CRT display. Unlike other flat panels, it's designed with a pure digital interface to deliver distortion-free images that never need adjusting. With over 4 million digital pixels, the display is uniquely suited for scientific and technical applications such as visualizing molecular structures or analyzing geological data.
Offering accurate, brilliant color performance, the Cinema HD delivers up to 16.7 million colors across a wide gamut allowing you to see subtle nuances between colors from soft pastels to rich jewel tones. A wide viewing angle ensures uniform color from edge to edge. Apple's ColorSync technology allows you to create custom profiles to maintain consistent color onscreen and in print. The result: You can confidently use this display in all your color-critical applications.
Housed in a new aluminum design, the display has a very thin bezel that enhances visual accuracy. Each display features two FireWire 400 ports and two USB 2.0 ports, making attachment of desktop peripherals, such as iSight, iPod, digital and still cameras, hard drives, printers and scanners, even more accessible and convenient. Taking advantage of the much thinner and lighter footprint of an LCD, the new displays support the VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) mounting interface standard. Customers with the optional Cinema Display VESA Mount Adapter kit gain the flexibility to mount their display in locations most appropriate for their work environment.
The Cinema HD features a single cable design with elegant breakout for the USB 2.0, FireWire 400 and a pure digital connection using the industry standard Digital Video Interface (DVI) interface. The DVI connection allows for a direct pure-digital connection.
Features:
Unrivaled display performance
30-inch (viewable) active-matrix liquid crystal display provides breathtaking image quality and vivid, richly saturated color.

Death Valley's Playa Racetrack is a most magical place! Wikipedia reports: "The Racetrack Playa, or The Racetrack, is a scenic dry lake feature with "sailing stones" that inscribe linear "racetrack" imprints. It is located above the northwestern side of Death Valley, in Death Valley National Park, Inyo County, California, U.S. The Racetrack Playa is 3,714 feet (1,132 m) above sea level, and 2.8 mi (4.5 km) long (north-south) by 1.3 mi (2.1 km) wide (east-west). The playa is exceptionally flat and level with the northern end being only 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) higher than the southern. This occurrence is due to major influx of fine-grained sediment that accumulates at the north end. The highest point surrounding the Racetrack is the 5,678-foot (1,731 m) high Ubehebe Peak, rising 1,964 feet (599 m) above the lakebed 0.85 miles (1.37 km) to the west."

So, my 2011 New Years resolution (which I rarely make and never keep) is to make one wearable piece of clothing per month. Doesn't sound like much? My lifetime total comes to: two patternless cotton skirts. I don't count head-adornments or knitting. I'm a quilter and three dimensions and PATTERNS (DUN Dun dun..) terrify me.
Anyway.
This is the Working 9 to 5 sheath dress from the Built by Wendy dress book. Not sure why I skipped over Sew U entirely and went straight to dresses, but there you have it. This is an old IKEA curtain because I didn't want to waste good fabric (even after a semi-successful muslin). Note that I've been too lazy to make either the self-belt or add buttons to the placket. Ah well.
Negatives: there is a major oops where the neck gaps in front (best seen here). It took me until I was tracing my next pattern to realize that the problem resulted from me adding a seam allowance to the front fold. DOH. It is partially remedied by a small dart under the placket (not enough!). Had I not made this bonehead mistake, I think I would actually like this dress a lot. As it is, I think it might be passable with a scarf or something covering up the front. Lesson learned. Also: my in-seam pocket skills remain mediocre. Not so noticeable here, but I clearly have no idea what I'm doing. Note to self: look up correct way to do it (for some reason, WM's instructions make my head swim).
Triumphs: Worked off a pattern for the first time. Sewed and ADDED darts (to the back - probably mostly because of said initial oops) for the first time. Messed around with facings and interfacing for the first time. I seem to have mad skillz when it comes to invisible zippers, or they're just easy - that was fun.
Major anxieties remaining: my lackluster hemming skills and dilemmas about how to finish seams (I pinked most of these).
Conclusion: My messups aside, I'm not in love with the raglan style. The February dress (in progress!) is the dirndl pattern.
