Pictured here is home of the famous Siegfried's Mechanisches Musikkabinett or mechanical music museum, it resides in a basement of a lovely 15 century manor house steps away from the upper portion of the Dosselgasse.

Siegfried Wendal was on his honeymoon in Los Angeles and stumbled across a collection of player pianos and musical mechanical devices.

Being a craftsman he was intrigued at the workmanship and thus was born a love for these devices and a lifetime hobby of collecting, restoring and preserving these wonders.

Take your time observing these mechanical marvels they are tucked into every nook and cranny and are designed to be heard not just seen.

Siegfried’s collection found its home in 1969 when it out grew his ability to store them privately, on display are items ranging from the world’s smallest to the huge automated concert piano Ochestrion.

Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado.

Mesa Verde National Park was established in 1906 to preserve and interpret the archaeological heritage of the Ancestral Puebloan people who called it home for over 700 years from 600 to 1300 CE. The park protects nearly 5,000 known archaeological sites including 600 cliff dwellings. While still farming the mesa tops, many Ancestral Puebloans lived in pueblos built beneath the overhanging cliffs. The structures ranged in size from one-room storage areas to villages of more than 150 rooms. They continued to reside in the alcoves—repairing, remodeling, and constructing new rooms—for nearly a century. By the late 1270s, the population migrated south into present-day New Mexico and Arizona.

This is an image of lunar crater Plato captured during the evening of the 21st April 2021.

Plato crater resides in the moon's north western quadrant, lying between the Mare Frigoris and the Mare Imbrium, to the left and right of the crater respectively.

One of the moon's darkest floored craters Plato is 109km in diameter.

Plenty of craterlets have been resolved on Plato's floor many of the fainter ones are around 1km in diameter. The two most prominent craterlets are 2.2 & 2.4km in diameter.

Peaks on Plato's ramparts at the top of the crater are silhouetted nicely on the crater floor.

Many wrinkle ridges or Dorsa are also present around the crater in the image.

Some isolated mountain features in the Mare Imbrium are also visible. The Montes Teneriffe bottom right of Plato and Montes Pico to Plato's right.

Imaged with a Celestron C11 SCT fitted with a focal extender and a ZWO 290MM camera with a Baader long-pass filter.

The great crested grebe is the largest member of the grebe family found in the Old World, with some larger species residing in the Americas. They measure 46–51 cm (18–20 in) long with a 59–73 cm (23–29 in) wingspan and weigh 0.9 to 1.5 kg (2.0 to 3.3 lb). It is an excellent swimmer and diver, and pursues its fish prey underwater. The adults are unmistakable in summer with head and neck decorations. In winter, this is whiter than most grebes, with white above the eye, and a pink bill.

The young are distinctive because their heads are striped black and white. They lose these markings when they become adults. (Wikipedia) Kaag, Netherlands.

For those who haven't bothered to read about many of the historical events or visit some of the historic sites where these events took place during the last century, you may want to take some time and visit the location where this rail car resides. My hope for humanity is that we have learned from the mistakes of the past and that we never allow this to ever happen again anywhere. Although the photo was shot in color, there was nothing at this location that is colorful and is best described as having an absence of color or perhaps being emotionally chilling.

The Great Kiskadee is a large and strikingly colored flycatcher that inhabits much of Central and South America. Great Kiskadees reside in a variety of habitats from forest edges to grasslands to busy residential areas. These birds can often been seen hawking insects from an open perch or dropping to the ground feeding on insects and small reptiles.

The leading families of St. Catharines resided in stately homes along Yates Street and the banks of the original Welland Canal. Built in 1905, in the Queen Anne style, Springbank House occupies the site of an earlier city landmark, the Springbank Hotel and Spa, and later, Bishop Ridley College. This prestigious, 100-year-old residence, which was in the Taylor Family for over 70 years, was renamed Springbank House after Kathy Taylor and her husband Tim purchased and restored it.

Aussie iconography. I came across this female red kangaroo on a bushwalk in the Pinnaroo cemetery bush gardens/reserve. I walked right past her then noticed her and came back. She didnt move and I was concerned she was injured. Turns out she was just sleeping. They are wild kangaroos but are accustomed to people as they reside in the memorial gardens.

Plump, chickenlike bird often found near willows; also resides in more open tundra. Plumage changes throughout the year. In winter, both sexes are pure white with black outer tail feathers. As summer progresses, male develops rich rufous head and neck and brownish back; in winter, lacks black eyeline shown by Rock Ptarmigan. Summer female is paler golden-brown with intricate black and white markings. Female nearly identical to Rock Ptarmigan; look for slightly thicker bill. Female distinguished from White-tailed Ptarmigan by warmer plumage in summer and black outer tail feathers. Also note habitat differences of White-tailed. Vocalizations include a comical nasal chuckle and various clucking notes.

We had stopped in Toronto on our way home from Point Pelee to do some birding. Imagine our surprise when we heard that a Willow Ptarmigan had just been found. We rushed down to the far end of the park, and there was this beauty! It's just getting some of its summer feathers.

In the absence of colors, the lily retains all its nobility. Its brilliance lies not only in the whiteness of its petals, but in the purity of its lines, the strength of its simplicity, and the symbolism it has carried through the centuries.

A royal flower, once present on the coat of arms of the French monarchy, and a symbol of light and spiritual purity, it has crossed history crowned with dignity.

In monochrome, its sculptural curves reveal a timeless majesty: even reduced to shades of shadow and light, the lily stands as an emblem of elegance and eternity …

residing on the top of the cupboard in my bedroom.

Amazing statistic of the New York City is that in Manhattan alone there are an estimated 280,000 dogs residing on the island and double that quantity in the outer boros of Queens and Brooklyn. Being smitten by dog love myself the proud owner of the two sweet mixed breed pooches, I often find my ‘street’ photography is of lovable canines. In the largely concrete jungle that is Manhattan, it’s amazing to see dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds being walked. In the few green spaces on the island, many include dog parks within their confines. I seen dogs in the dogs as early as 5 AM (I walk my guys that early if I have to go into the office early or drive my youngest daughter to the train station) and in Washington Square Park after mid-night. Manhattan in particular poses challenges because a larger portion of the population relies primarily on public transportation, unlike us NY suburbanites in northern Jersey, north New York counties (Rockland and Orange) and Long Island, many don’t own motor vehicles. Owning a canine is a wonderful rewarding experience, but also is a large responsibility that requires forethought . My kids and I having moved in the last year, number 1 on the list is, places that will accept pets, then the question is how big. Well Manhattan those queries resonate even more, even if you find a dog friendly building, the bathroom situation, how do you walk the dog? Full time job? Going to be difficult. That’s why budgeted into the care and upkeep of a pooch dog walkers are a must. Added cost is also a factor, the vets, the groomers, tend to charge a bit more. That why it’s important when considering a dog, that a lot of consideration is taken with all the factors that play into having a loyal four legged companion. This consideration and calculation does not happen some times and the city sponsored and private animal shelters in New York City are full of dogs who at first seemed like a good idea, but then reality set in and became sadly expendable. Dogs are loyal, full of love and always happy to see you, I’ve had my two for 8 and 7 years and adore them. They require attention and time, they are living creatures and if they don’t get a decent amount of attention, they will act up.

I love capturing dogs living and interacting in the city. This dog was a bit tired and was on the lap of his female caretaker happy as could be in Washington Square Park people watching; totally cool.

I've watched several local photographers post photos of the Barred Owls that reside near Huntley Meadows Park in Alexandria, VA but I'd never spotted one there. With assistance from a friend I finally got a good look. There were two in the tree but the other one was too obstructed for a decent shot.

Zutphen is known for many things and one of them is being unknown to most outside of the Netherlands and I don’t think that bothers anyone that resides there as they get to keep its charms all to themselves.

The Town is populated with less than 50k people and is full of left over grandeur from its golden age stretching from 13th to 16th centuries so much towering majesty that it has earned the nickname of Torenstad or Tower City.

Given the towns closeness to several rivers it is no surprise that the 11th century origins of the towns name was Zuidveen which means a southern facing peat bog and probably another reason for the place to be prosperous given a great source of heating was available nearby.

This is my last post for Zutphen before heading to Deventer so I will mention a last little known fact from the town and that is it is one of the last three chained libraries in Europe, meaning since the 16th century the library had its reference books chained to desks where scholars could use the books just not remove them, guess this saved on overdue return fines.

I took this on September 19th, 2017 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens at 38mm 1/10s, f/16 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , Luminar and DXO

Disclaimer: My style is a study of romantic realism as well as a work in progress.

The city of Cambridge is full of brains and bicycles. The brains mainly reside in the hallowed halls of the university. They ride the bicycles, as do lesser mortals.

These pinnacles of intellect often seem to engage in incomprehensible and seemingly arcane studies. I remember going to a lecture once where an animated young lady effused enthusiasm for her doctoral research on the meaning and metaphors to be found in the patterns of Polynesian mat-weaving in the age before civilisation arrived (in the form of a boat from Europe).

I found the talk strangely fascinating and interesting. It takes one to know one I guess.

The latest development by the city’ brains is driverless bicycles. This advanced technology has considerable benefits to society, and Cambridge is now the world leader in the field (or streets for that matter). Bikes can travel a lot closer together, significantly reducing the congestion in the bike lanes for this already climate-friendly mode of transport. You can clearly see this in my image, taken in Cambridge just this week and processed today.

But there’s been a problem. There have been a large number of fatalities resulting from collisions between the novel bikes and food delivery riders driving their electric scooters. No one is quite sure what is the cause...

Quite understandably there has been considerable consternation in the upper levels of the city authorities. They are concerned that if we run out of drivers (more likely now since the ignominy of Brexit) food will be unable to be delivered from the restaurants to people’s homes and the population will starve. Never a good thing for leaders of a democracy (or even a monarchy - remember the French Revolution, anyone?). :)

With wind gusts up to 30 MPH, the branches were whipping back and forth as mama GHO perched on a tree not far from the twins.

In shadows deep where whispers tread,

A silent watcher lifts its head.

Unseen by all, it guards the night,

A flicker borne of ancient light.

No malice dwells within its gaze,

But purpose pure through endless days.

It shields the weak, it tests the strong,

A keeper of what’s right and wrong.

When winds grow still, and silence falls,

The spirit listens, hears our calls.

Its presence near, a guiding flame,

Yet none shall know its face or name.

For those who stray, its steps appear,

To mend their path or stoke their fear.

A quiet force, both stern and kind,

A mirror held to heart and mind.

So walk with care, your soul alight,

The spirit sees through day and night.

Its ceaseless watch, a gift, a guide—

In its embrace, the truth resides.

Copernicus resides in the moon's northwest quadrant in the Oceanus Procellarum and is one of the most striking on the moon.

The crater is some 90km in diameter.

This is a second image of the crater during the session but this time I used a focal extender on my Celestron C11 SCT.

Again the terraced walls of the lower side of the crater, along with the craters central mountains, are being strongly illuminated by the rising sun. In contrast the upper side of the crater remains in inky darkness.

The crater is surrounded by an ejecta blanket and this is nicely highlighted in this image with textured detail.

The floor topology shows one quadrant (on the left) is comparatively smooth in contrast to the boulder strewn appearance of the remaining quadrants.
