We had some time to kill so we stopped by this great little park that resides in Colorado Springs. It had been raining on and off for the better part of the day and after resolving ourself to a night in the car so we spent the rest of the day exploring. As well as an amazing geological spectacle, it has a fascinating history that spans back eons.
The human history of the Garden of the Gods commences many centuries before our present time. Stone hearths and fire rings found in the Garden dating over 3000 years ago indicate the presence of early inhabitants, According to Ute traditions, their people have always lived in this area, and were known to winter in the Garden of the Gods.
It's no wonder they were drawn to this magical place.
Thank you for taking the time to take a look at my photos and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great weekend everyone :)
If you have any questions about this photo or about photography in general, I will do my best to help, just post a comment or send me a Flickr mail and I will respond as quickly as possible.

Around 12,000 Mennonites reside in Belize. They live in secluded communities and avoid modern technology, including electricity in some cases. The Mennonites can trace their roots back to 16th-century Europe and have since migrated globally, seeking isolated land to farm and evade persecution or forced assimilation into larger society. The Mennonite colonies in Belize originated in the late 1950s when over 3,000 Canadian Mennonites migrated there from Mexico. The Belizean government extended an invitation, providing them with land, religious autonomy, and exemptions from certain taxes and military service, given their status as dedicated pacifists.
This is the final image from this series, a shortcut to my home along a beautiful country road. As I said in my original post, many people drive by these various spots every day blind to the beauty around them. There are so many “pictures” I have taken that reside only in my mind. I am so glad I took the time to retrace my drive to work and back with a camera in hand. I hope these pictures have encouraged you to look for the beauty that lives just beyond those guard rails.
The lovely textures used in this series are thanks to the beautiful works of Anna Lenabem, Tito and Jai Johnson.
Thank you so much for all your visits, kind comments, invitations and favorites. This image may not be copied or distributed without my written consent. © All rights reserved.

Saw this magnificent grey wolf residing at the time I took this photo at the Alaskan Wildlife Conversation Center, in Alaska obvs. It's the closest I've been to a wolf in the wild and even from a distance they looked proud and intelligent and amazing.
The Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a sanctuary dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife through conservation, education, research and quality animal care.
I don't want to alarm you, but some people close to me say that once a month, on the full moon, I look a bit like this. (That's the Halloween scary bit for those in parts of the world that celebrate it ;)
In this large sea cave, a colony of Steller sea lions permanently resides and California sea lions also winter here. Waves from the open sea continually come splashing into the cave. The sea lions spend time here hauled out on rocks to rest and find shelter from winter storms. Many birds also inhabit the cave system.
An elevator has been built to take visitors down into the cave, where a single, carefully fenced-off viewpoint allows this incredible glimpse into another world! It is totally magical!
Between the crashing waves and the constant barking of the sea lions, the sound was deafening in this echoing cavern, and so whatever sound came from the human visitors was completely drowned out and became irrelevant. I was glad to come away with the impression that the wild sea lions really didn't seem bothered by the tourism activity.
There is no getting around the fact my heart is in the countryside, with trees and meadows and horses and dogs, but I venture out into the mysterious realms of cities every so often to challenge my psyche to see beauty outside of my natural habitat. Lil fox and I got lost (as often happens when I scamper off on an adventure!!) so we decided to perch on these steps and regain our bearings before happily exploring more of this fabulous sim. We had a grand time... and Mr. Fox had his ice cream radar tuned right in on an ice cream shop here, which he was impatiently waiting to make a beeline for!
And oh my goodness, this teddy bear hoodie! I was inspired by our gorgeous Morgaine's recent post about a shop called Lunar:

The shop was filled with cuteness, much of which is now cheerfully residing in my inventory. Happy twirls!! And thank you my dear Morgaine for the expert enabling! 😊💕
Shilshole Bay Marina.
Seattle, Washington, USA.
This image is an excerpt from Chapter Two of my blog series,
"Adventures in Photocycling", in which I photograph the subject matter that captures my eye as I ride my bike through different neighborhoods of Seattle.
Chapter Two features many scenes along the water, including Seattle's several lakes and bays. I've included a few night scenes in response to previous requests. Many thanks for your interest and feedback.
Near the very center of the image, you can see the silhouette of the Shilshole Bay sea serpent. (It's a sculpture. It's not real!) My understanding is that, over a century ago, many people in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle -- back when Ballard was an independent town -- popularized a myth or legend of a massive sea serpent that resided along the western shores of the city. In its honor, a sculpture was created and erected on the breakwater adjacent to the marina.

Inuksuit (the plural of Inuksuk) serve in a spiritual capacity to indicate a place where life is renewed or where spirits reside; where judgements or decisions are made or where celebrations and festivals are held. Traditionally, they were used by the Inuit in the north as directional markers. An Inukshuk in the shape of a person signifies safety, hope and friendship. These stone sculptures were also important for navigation, as a point of reference, as a marker for hunting grounds, or to denote a food cache.
~ We can observe the Black Tusk too here : The Black Tusk is a stratovolcano and a pinnacle of volcanic rock in Garibaldi Provincial Park of British Columbia, Canada. At 2,319 m above sea level, the upper spire is visible from a great distance in all directions.

Un Inukshuk en forme de personne signifie sécurité, espoir et amitié. So we can fall in love, get married, have lots and lots of children and live happily ever after......Amen.

The Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo) is a species of eagle-owl that resides in much of Eurasia. It is abbreviated to just the eagle-owl in Europe It is one of the largest species of owl, and females can grow to a total length of 75 cm (30 in), with a wingspan of 188 cm (6 ft 2 in), with males being slightly smaller. This bird has distinctive ear tufts. The orange eyes are distinctive.
Eurasian eagle-owls are found in many habitats, but are mostly birds of mountainous regions or other rocky areas, often those near varied woodland edge and shrubby areas with openings or wetlands to hunt a majority of their prey. Additionally, they inhabit coniferous forests, steppes, and other areas at varied elevations that are typically relatively remote.
The eagle-owl is mostly a nocturnal predator, hunting for a range of different prey species. Predominantly, their diet is composed of small mammals such as rodents and rabbits, but they also prey on larger mammals and birds of varying sizes. Other secondary prey can include reptiles, amphibians, fish, large insects and other assorted invertebrates.
In addition to being one of the largest living species of owl, the Eurasian eagle-owl is also one of the most widely distributed. With a total range in Europe and Asia of about 32 million km2 (12 million sq mi) and a total population estimated to be between 250,000 and 2.5 million.
The IUCN lists the bird's conservation status as being of least concern. - Wikipedia.
The Painted Bunting (Passerina ciris) resides at Circle B Bar Reserve from about January until April each winter. This little guy was munching on the seeds that are visible in the picture. The bush had no leaves but foreground twigs can be seen in his wing area. He measures only about 5 1/4 inches from beak-tip to tail-tip. Definitely one of the prettier birds we come across.
Snowbowl resides on the San Francisco Peaks, a remnant of the former San Francisco Mountain, which are held as sacred to 13 different Native American tribes in the region. These tribes include the Navajo, Apache, Hualapai, Yavapai, Hopi, and other Native Nations. To date, they have lost all lawsuits they had filed to stop further development and expansion of this alpine ski resort.
Normally resides on the kitchen window cill but it was such a wonderful day I felt sorry for it and took it outside for a photoshoot.

Sometimes you have to be imaginative and cunning to attract this shy, large bird who often resides in cover, no secret, and it is by the throat that it must be seduced. An old branch will do the trick, a cordless drill armed with a good wood drill bit and make some cavities to discreetly put the shelled hazelnuts or acorns, then hide and watch from afar if the canteen is successful and if the trap works, it's just a question of patience because sooner or later there will always be customers (Jay, Nuthatch, Chickadee, Woodpecker etc ...)
PS: any request to share with a group will be rejected immediately, I do not want any publicity on my work (I have largely passed the age of receiving Oscars, Good Points and other nonsense of this kind .... ) , thank you for your understanding
This is one of the prettiest Grouse of the grouse family residing in Alberta, usually likes wooded areas and are hard to spot.
Downy Woodpecker (male).
A sparrow-sized woodpecker at 6 inches in length. Black and white with the males only having a small red patch on the nape of the head. Similar to Hairy Woodpeckers but tamer and smaller and with a short stubby bill.
Its habitat includes woodlands, parks and gardens.
It resides from Alaska across Canada and south throughout the United States except the southwest.

Jabu is the White Lion of La Flèche Zoo Park, France
Up until 2009, when the first white lions was reintroduced to the wild, it was widely believed that the white lion could not survive in the wild. It is for this reason that a large part of the population of white lions now reside in zoos.
The white lions of the Global White Lion Protection Trust (GWLPT) have been reintroduced into their natural habitat and have been hunting and breeding successfully without human intervention for a significant amount of time.
The white lion is a rare color mutation of the Timbavati area. White lions are the same as the tawny African Lion (Panthera leo krugeri) found in some wildlife reserves in South Africa and in zoos around the world.
White lions are not albinos. Their white color is caused by a recessive trait derived from a less-severe mutation in the same gene that causes albinism, distinct from the gene responsible for white tigers. They vary from blonde to near-white. This coloration does not appear to disadvantage their survival.
If you like shooting deer (with your camera!), the Woburn Abbey Deer Park is the place to be. 7 different species so literally hundreds of deer roaming in herds throughout this large grassed and forested area. These are Manchurian Sika Deer (Cervus nippon mantchuricus or Cervus nippon dybowskii) which are one of several non-native to the UK species that reside there.
As I mentioned in the last post Bell Rock depicted here resides next to Courthouse Butte so this shot logically follows my last, speaking of logic have a gander at the people high up on this monument. While the grey day made for a great photos it also was on the verge of rain and these intrepid climbers seem oblivious to the fact that water makes for a bad climbing buddy. This 500+ foot climb is easy going up, so much so that people find themselves in predicaments on the way down they never intended while making the climb up.
I took this on Dec 23rd, 2019 with my D750 and Tamron 24-70 f2.8 G2 Lens at 35mm, 1/40s, f10 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia ,and DXO Nik

Pennsylvania are non-plussed by the sight of classic EMD power here. And while the number of foamer cars far outnumbered that of the freight cars, it was still a splendid sight and fun chase.

Only a cynic can create horror--for behind every masterpiece of the sort must reside a driving demonic force that despises the human race and its illusions, and longs to pull them to pieces and mock them.”

This pair of Egyptian Geese reside in my local park and usually produce a good clutch of eggs/goslings each year.
I heard that they'd brought the newly hatched goslings over from the nesting site on an island in the middle of the lake, to the area where visitors walk. This is a risky move as people enter the park with their dogs at this point (some not on a lead) and the male swan (we only have one pair) is very protective and territorial when his mate is currently sitting on her nest.
Sadly there were initially ten yesterday, but only seven on my count this morning.
I went to the park early hoping to find them. When I arrived Mum was keeping them all warm. Then 2 dogs arrived across the water inlet where they were and this disturbed them. Thankfully another visitor was feeding them with seeds so I got some good photos.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to photograph this Common Potoo. They reside in Central and South America. Their call is loud and distinctive and quite funny in a way. It’s like a descending scale of “Who-who-who-who”. They are known to mimic the stumps or branches where they perch, and sometimes turn their bill upward to further camouflage their presence. Unlike the one pictured here, I read that they select perches that match the diameter of their body. I wouldn’t have gotten this opportunity but for the kindness of a Costa Rican homeowner who saw us prowling the night looking for owls. He suddenly opened his fence and beckoned us in to get some pictures. (Nyctibius griseus) (Sony a1, 40mm f/2.8 at f/4, handheld at 1/250 second and ISO 640, flash)
Of the six Glaeser-bodied Steyr 220 Sport Roadsters built before World War II, three were destroyed in the war, one resides in an Austrian museum, and one has been lost to history. That leaves the 1938 Steyr 220 Sport Roadster that took top honors at this past weekend's inaugural Pinehurst Concours d'Elegance as the last known example still in private hands. The Steyr had previously taken second in the European Classic: Grand Touring class at last year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The current owner bought the Steyr in 2011 and had it restored last year. Steyr, or as it later became known, Steyr-Daimler-Puch, is perhaps best known for building trucks and military vehicles, but the Austrian firm once enjoyed reasonable success building luxury sedans, convertibles and sports roadsters. Debuting in 1937, the Steyr 220 series built on the success of the company's earlier and less-powerful models, such as the 120, 125 and 200. Available in four body styles (five-passenger limousine, five-passenger cabriolet, and two cabriolet versions with bodies by Glaeser Coachworks of Dresden, Germany, all 220 models received a 2.3-liter inline six-cylinder engine, rated at 55 horsepower and mated to a four-speed manual transmission. Though Steyr built a total of some 5,900 220 series models from 1937 to 1941, the pre-war European economy didn't encourage purchases like a custom-bodied two-seat sports roadster, and only six of this Glaeser-bodied Steyr variant are known to have been constructed.
Originally built as a demonstrator model for a Berlin dealer, this roadster features dual carburetors, dual exhausts, a longer-duration cam and bigger valves, all of which were available as factory upgrades from Steyr. Restorer Roger James of D&D Classic Automobile Restoration estimates the changes bump output to around 85 horsepower. Given the car's lightweight and rigid chassis with four-wheel independent suspension, its performance and handling would have been exceptional for the day. Restoring the 1938 Steyr took nearly a full year, as parts for the car were available only from a single German source with a history of Steyr restorations that spanned two generations. Worse, the supplier wasn't interested in selling a single component, requiring D&D to purchase the entire remaining Steyr parts inventory to get the items needed. In the case of this nearly one-of-a-kind automobile, the end certainly justifies the means. The maroon-over-cream Steyr Sport Roadster is a stunning and unusual example of pre-war European design. The impact of the Art Deco Streamline Moderne movement on the car's styling is evident, including the subdued primary color with darker accents; the chrome windshield frame, headlamps and wheels; the flowing design of the front fenders and skirted rear fenders; and the plunging chrome trim line used to convey a sense of speed, even when the Glaeser-bodied roadster was parked.

On my way home from a meeting, the timing was ideal to capture a sunset. This is part of Davis Bay in the District of Sechelt where I live. I was traveling from Gibsons which is approximately 25 minutes away and knew that clouds were on the horizon.
Sometimes knowing where you live and the conditions present, can put you in a favourable position to catch what you are looking for. Enormous tree trunks that have wondered from log booms, dot the shoreline. At high tide, they dominate the shoreline and prove to frame this sunset image in a pleasing manner.
What an amazing sim and group of people who reside there!
