IMAGINE DRAGONS
“Many a person over the years has tried- both successfully and unsuccessfully, to get rid of their inner demons. Those who are successful are deemed artists, those who are not are call dreamers at best and lunatics at worse. But where exactly resides that line on which two worlds collide? Does somebody know? Is somebody fit to tell? Who's to say that those deemed lunatics are not just successes on the making? Who says that those who claim to be just a tad bit crazy are not just as crazy as those that had completely lost it? Maybe, and bear with me here…everyone is as crazy as the one before them and the next one could ever possibly be. Maybe at the end- it's just that some have mastered creating a façade of calmness and collection while others don't bother going through all that trouble anymore, if they ever did. Perhaps we all have demons…it's just that some people have demons far more toxic and difficult to ignore than others.”

The white-faced ibis (Plegadis chihi) is a wading bird in the ibis family, Threskiornithidae.
This species breeds colonially in marshes, usually nesting in bushes or low trees. Its breeding range extends from the western United States south through Mexico, as well as from southeastern Brazil and southeastern Bolivia south to central Argentina, and along the coast of central Chile. Its winter range extends from southern California and Louisiana south to include the rest of its breeding range.
During times of hardship and darkness, when all seems out of control and of our hands, there is a place within all of us we can go back to, the center of our inner peace , where faith ,hope and hopefully love, reside.
In that place, we can hold space for our Light , return to ourselves and use discernment about what is true, permanent and essential . We do need to find again a new way to relate to the world and others, to all life around us.
It is time.
I return to myself
I return to my shadow
I return to the core of my being.
I return to what I've lost and forgotten,
abandoned and rejected.
I return to my grief, to my fear
and to places where I feel powerless
until it all transforms into wisdom.
I return to my body and breath.
I return to my humanity.
I return to my heart.
I return to compassion.
I return to Earth.
I return to call all parts of me home.
I return to my soul.
I return to oneness.
I return to my life whole.

Sanssouci, Postdam, Brandenburg, Deutschland.
Sanssouci (from the French sans souci = "carefree") is the name of a group of buildings and gardens that include the former official summer palace of Frederick II the Great, King of Prussia, in Potsdam, near Berlin. It is one of the top works of the Rococo style, and it is also notable for the many pavilions and pavilions scattered throughout the park that surrounds the complex.
Sanssouci Palace combines 18th century architecture with landscape architecture Under the direction of Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff, between 1745 and 1747 a one-storey mansion in the style of a “maison de plaisance” was built according to the indications The building comprises two lateral wings that occupy almost the entire upper part of the terrace. The wings of the palace have rows of trees on their north side and end in gazebos gated, decorated with gold ornaments.
Under its dome is the oval Marble Hall where the legendary gathering organized by the Prussian sovereign, eager to share his musical and philosophical concerns with guests like Voltaire, could be held. The interior decoration is, for the most part, original from the 18th century.
Frederick II regularly resided in the Palace, however after his death in 1786 it remained empty and neglected until the mid-19th century.
Shakujii Park (石神井公園) used to be a castle resided by a Samurai (warrior ruler) named Yasutsune Toshima (豊島泰経). He was attacked and defeated by Doukan Oota (太田道灌) based in Edo in 1478. Legend has it that Yasutsune and his daughter Teruhime (照姫) drowned themselves here in the Sanpouji-ike (三宝寺池).
The shrine in the photo is called Itsukushima Jinja (厳島神社), which may have been installed to soothe their souls. In spite of that, this area is considered as haunted, and there are sporadic reports of encountering ghosts or taking ghost photos especially at night.
Doukan's Edo Castle was transferred to Tokugawa Ieyasu (徳川家康) in 1590. Tokugawa clan had ruled Japan from the expanded Edo Castle from 1603 to 1868, which is called Edo Jidai (江戸時代 Edo Period). After the restoration of imperial rule in 1868, which is called Meiji Ishin (明治維新 Meiji Restoration), the imperial family moved in from Kyoto, Edo was renamed to Tokyo (meaning eastern Kyoto or capital), and Edo Castle was converted to an imperial residence called Koukyo (皇居).
Today's pictures are all from this second class temple near Itsaraphap MRT station. Wat Ratchasittharam Ratchaworawihan, is a second class Royal Temple founded by King Rama I. He built the new royal temple in the area of a more ancient temple named Wat Phlab and combined both into the same monastery. He also invited Phra Archan Suk (Kai Thuan ) from Wat Tha Hoy , in Ayutthaya province, to reside in the new temple. This temple was where Kings Rama II, III and IV studied Buddhist practices and meditation. King Rama IV especially used to reside in the temple. Inside the monastery, there is a mural painting telling the stories of the Three Worlds, The Buddha's Life and Vessandara Jataka . The outside wall depicts the scene of theRoyal Barge Procession .

The first written mention of the stronghold in Ląd comes from 1136. In the mid-thirteenth century, Mieszko III the Old settled here the Cistercian Order. For three centuries it was a German order, and from 1550 Poles resided in the abbey in Ląd. As a result of the partitions of Poland, Ląd was taken over by Prussia and the church property was confiscated. After the political changes in 1819 and the transition of Ląd to the Russian partition, the abbey was dissolved. In 1850 the monastery was settled by Capuchins, who were removed by the Russian authorities for helping the January Insurgents (1863-64). In 1921, after Poland regained independence, the Salesians were settled in Ląd. The Salesian Order and Seminary is still there today.
The monastery buildings are located on the right bank of the Warta River, and it includes the buildings of the former abbey, the church of Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Nicholas and the gardens of the monastery. The former abbey is an outstanding example of the Gothic and late Baroque style, closely related to the history of this region, and rebuilt many times. The church is a baroque temple, the construction of which began in 1651 and took almost 100 years. Earlier, an older church stood in this place, which was pulled down. The central nave and the dome were made in the years 1728–35 according to by Pompeo Ferrari.

Pierwsza pisana wzmianka o grodzie w Lądzie pochodzi z 1136 roku.
Najświętszej Maryi Panny i św.

The Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge, located in the heart of downtown Austin, hosts the largest urban bat colony in the world, estimated at 1.5 million bats. It is a maternity colony, where pregnant females come to roost in the spring and raise their pups from mid summer to fall. Until the pups are born, male bats are not under the bridge. They bats are migratory, spending March to early November in in Austin and the winters in Mexico.
The bats reside beneath the road deck in gaps between the concrete component structures. The bats begin to wake up and start their night flight around sunset. Austinites and tourists crowd the bridge, shoreline and in boats to watch the nightly spectacle.
The Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge is a concrete arch bridge that opened in 1910, and was rehabilitated in 1980. Commonly known as the Congress Avenue Bridge, the bridge was renamed by the Austin City Council in 2006 as the Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge. Richards, an Austinite, served a single term as Texas Governor from 1991 to 1995, and died in 2006.

I went for a hike yesterday afternoon following this stream, no path and treacherous footing, and I broke my tripod. So, all of these images were taken at 1.6 seconds with the camera handheld; seemed like an eternity. I didn’t take as many photos as I wanted and in frustration I sat here for awhile…I would trade a tripod for this place any day! I’ll return to this stream later today…

Khandzta was a medieval Georgian monastery founded by Gregory of Khandzta (prominent Georgian ecclesiastic figure and a founder and leader of numerous monastic communities in Tao-Klarjeti) in 782 AD.
In 780 the future St Gregory of Khandzta moved to Tao-Klarjeti to revive Georgian monasticism in the region. He originally resided at the monastery of Opiza but then founded his own monastery at Khandzta in 782, and soon it became the center of monastic life in Tao-Klarjeti under his direction. Its influence lasted after his death in 861. In the 10th century, a local monk, Giorgi Merchule, wrote a Life of Gregory, celebrated as a masterpiece of Georgian medieval hagiography.
The first church at Khandzta was built of wood by Gregory and his companions. In 820, during the reign of Ashot I, a stone church was built to replace it by the nobleman Gabriel Dapanchuli. The present church seems to be a replacement again, dating from 918. The construction was completed in 941.
A freestanding bell-tower was added in the 16th century. From that time, the integration of the region into the Ottoman Empire and the active Islamisation of the population led to the decline of the monastery, and its eventual abandonment.

An abandoned home I have been really eager to get back to and finally made it way, way out to this place. It resides in a secret little place in Grant County, WA State.

In this series, where I developed a way to "paint with pixels" I eventually filled the space with equal amounts of movements so the images wound up becoming "All Over" compositions. This was a term coined to refer to Jackson Pollocks unique compositional innovation. Literally, there is no centre, foreground, background or hierarchy of composition in his classic "drip" series. The composition was then, evenly "all over" the picture plane. My piece is pretty much 'all over' but not entirely.
This piece was almost finished when I felt that it needed the 5 strong, straight, black bars to finally "pop" the image. As soon as I put them in I immediately thought of my favourite Pollock painting, "Blue Poles". It's an interesting piece, a later one, where he seems to have felt that he had said what he meant to "say" with the all over pieces and was once again open to placing objects into the image that stood out against the all over background.
All these things considered, I thought to title this one of mine after Pollocks "Blue Poles".

The golden gingko tree that resides near me, such a magnificent specimen- I've named her the Queen of the street - always creates a beautiful carpet at her base, the owner sweeps them into a circular collar around her trunk and eventually rakes them up, he keeps a very tidy yard. I always like to admire the fallen leaves, there must be thousands of them. I was trying to imagine a gingko that was multi-coloured, how magical that would be :)
song from 1979 written and sung by Dolly Parton, remembering a coat her mother made for her when she was young and they had no money - my grandmother made me coats from old coats she scrounged, I remember asking for red, but they were always a dull colour, I also wanted a fur collar - never got one - but one year I got a velveteen leopard print collar, what a thrill that was :)
The step..

This guy has become fairly tame over the last few weeks. Looks to be suffering having lost an antler and limping on two legs. Has continued to improve during this time and often steals the badger's peanuts and also loves eating the vast amount of laurel leaves that are available . The area is good as mostly enclosed large gardens for the animal to reside in
The midges has resided, a little, by the time this was taken so Tony and I had a bit of peace and some time to properly take in the view.
In hindsight maybe I should have focus stacked and got The Old Man a bit sharper but, to be honest, I was enjoying just being blown away by the place so didn't really care and guess what? I still don't!
Kampong-Chhnang (Cambodia) - This part of the floating village of Kampong-Chhnang where the Vietnamese community resides is not really on the river. It is located in a large backwater behind the dike. You have to be curious to find it. While some houses built on reeds serving as floats are large, many have been made from odds and ends. We see that the living conditions are precarious.

Skálholtskirkja sits in a historic complex at Skálholt in South Iceland. This church was built in 1961-63 on the same basic foundation as most of the ten previous chapels and cathedrals built at the site. The church honors the historic and religious dignificance of this site, which once was the capital of Iceland and, along with Hólar to the north, its religious center. Though some of the old wooden cathedrals were larger, the new Church is similar in size to the last two.
For over 700 years Skálholt was a center center of religion, culture and education in Iceland which makes it one of country´s most important historic sites. Norse settlers came to the area in the late 800s and early 900s (AD). In 1000 AD, New law mandated Christianity as the official religion of Iceland. The country’s first bishop, Ísleifur Gissurarson, ordained in 1056, made Skálholt the episcopal see of all Iceland (until another Episcopal see was created in Hólar in 1106 AD). Over the next 700 years several significant religious and cultural events would occur at Skálholt.
1- One of the most revered of the bishops residing at Skálholt duuring the middle ages was Þorlákur Þórhallsson (bishop 1178-1198), who became Iceland’s only saint.
2-For centuries after Bishop Þórhallsson’s death, people came on pilgrimage from all corners of Iceland to visit his relics in Skálholt.
3-During those medieval times, huge wooden cathedrals were built at Skálholt. These cathedrals drew many from across Iceland. Before the Reformation 32 Catholic Bishops sat at Skálholt.
4-During the mid 16th century, Icelanders, now under Danish rule, converted to Lutheranism. The Reformation came during turbulent times in Iceland. On November 7, 1550, Bishop Jón Arason along with his two sons, Björn and Ar, were beheaded at Skálholt. Arason who was the Bishop of Hólar had been the last remaining Catholic bishop in Iceland.
5-The translation of the Bible into Icelandic started in secrecy in a cow stall of Skálholt.
6-After the Reformation, one of the best known and most influential bishops of Skálholt was Brynjólfur Sveinsson (bishop 1639-1674), Highly respected for his learning, he collected old Icelandic manuscripts that help preserve history and the language. Under his direction, church members built a new wooden church at Skálholt, approximately the same size as the present Cathedral.
7-In all ten churches have stood at in Skálholt. Some measured larger and some smaller but all were built on the same basic foundations.
For centuries Skálholt was the actual capital of a rural society and the cultural and spiritual center of the country (together with Hólar in the North), figuring eminently in the cultural and church history. But after waning status of the bishop’s office, volcanic eruptions, a major earthquake and other disasters in the late 18th century the episcopal see and school were transferred to Reykjavík. Skálholt fell into disrepute.
In the mid-20th century Skálholt rose from ashes, due to its historical significance. The modern cathedral, consecrated in 1963, displays works of modern art, as well as for artifacts from previous churches on the site.
