Wood Warbler - Phylloscopus sibilatrix
The wood warbler (Phylloscopus sibilatrix) is a common and widespread leaf warbler which breeds throughout northern and temperate Europe, and just into the extreme west of Asia in the southern Ural Mountains.
This warbler is strongly migratory and the entire population winters in tropical Africa.
It is a summer visitor to the United Kingdom, seen from April until August. It has declined there in recent years. It is now very rare in Ireland, where only one or two pairs are recorded breeding in most years, usually in County Wicklow.
Various factors associated with forest structure, including slope, forest cover, proportion of broad-leaf forest, canopy height and forest edge length, all influenced the occupancy rates of this declining forest species. Conservation measures are therefore required that provide and maintain the wood warblers preferred forest structure. There is also a preference for forest in the non-breeding season, however this habitat is declining in wintering areas such as Ghana. Despite the decline in forest habitats, there has been no change in number of wood warblers as it appears that this species can use degraded habitats, such as well-wooded farms. However, further loss of trees will likely have a negative impact on this species in the future

Life is like a journey on a train
with its stations, with changes of routes and with accidents!
At birth we boarded the train and met our parents, and we believe they will always travel on our side. However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone. As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant i.e. our siblings, friends, children, and even the love of our life. Many will step down and leave a permanent vacuum. Others will go so unnoticed that we don’t realize that they vacated their seats! This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells. Success consists of having a good relationship with all the passengers…requiring that we give the best of ourselves.
The mystery to everyone is: We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. So, we must live in the best way – Love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are. It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seats empty, we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life without us.
I wish you a joyful journey for the coming years on your train
of life. Reap success, give lots of love and be happy.
More importantly, be thankful for the journey!
Lastly, I thank you for being one of the
passengers on my train!

A lovely place to visit in mid Wales...I did intend to view inside the castle itself, but spent so much time in the wonderful gardens that I ran out of time!
A return visit required...
Laugharne Castle is a castle in the town of Laugharne in southern Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is located on the estuary of the River Tâf and was originally established in 1116.
So! at certain times of the day the carpark near the castle will flood...and the seating area ofcourse ☺.

Another attempt but unfortunately would not comply with the size rule required by the group.
Can a house be semi-abandoned? Aspects of the place appeared to be looked after, others not so much. For example, the broken window in the kitchen, which had glass pieces on the sill.
i stood quiet and still, leaning on the gate of a barn at Adam's — who i'd just delivered logs to — hoping her curiosity would draw her. Sure enough she got closer and closer. Smelly breath, but easily tolerable for this gorgeous animal.

What a stunning, almost unbelievable, sight!!
Every year, the 2 blocks of Cambridge St between Slocan and Kamloops St burst into a dazzling red archway. This year, it was discovered by the Asian community and they have flocked in to have their pictures taken for good luck. And it has been a spectacular year especially because it has been so dry and sunny. Enjoy your virtual "walk" through the "Cambridge Maple Arch" in E. Vancouver, BC. :)
Linus isn't happy because he hurt himself yesterday when a loud noise startled him and he panicked. He has a problem with one of his hind legs and is limping terribly. Most of the time he doesn't move at all, just lies down somewhere and looks miserable. The vet thinks that he has pulled a muscle but if things don't get better further examinations will be required. Fynn has a vet appointment tomorrow anyway, maybe I'll take Linus with us as I would like the vet to have another look at him before the weekend. Surprisingly Fynn is very nice to Linus, sleeps next to him and even grooms him which is something Fynn usually never does.
At the container terminal in Bremerhaven there are many container gantry cranes. This one is still a very old one, which was built as a grid tube construction to bring less weight to the pier. With today's requirements, such a bridge is no longer sufficient. Completely different dimensions and designs are required.
Another of the dilapidated wrecks to be found on the Cabrach area of moorland twixt Aberdeenshire and Moray North East Scotland. A probable remnant of the clearances, but from which era of clearances I have no idea. A lot of upland hill farms became unmanageable after WWI as so few men returned in a fit state to carry out the arduous work required, the upland farmsteads fell by the wayside and this is what we see so much of today.
BNSF's Fallbridge Subdivision is like a thread and its trains are the needle. Through much of the Columbia River Gorge, the railroad weaves along the waterway's north bank and punches through solid basalt cliffs in 12 short tunnels, often in quick one-after-another succession, as fast-paced trains maintain high speeds and dodge their way between sidings in a well-choreographed effort required to keep things fluid on this high-density corridor. BNSF 8457 and the H AUBPAS3 27A under its control are sewing the needle on this spectacular morning, ducking out of Tunnel 2 and rounding the sweeping curve approaching Tunnel 3 near Cook, WA, with 125 cars on the drawbar including a healthy cut of one of the PNW's main exports riding the head end. The Empire Builder James J. Hill built himself quite the railroad in the Spokane, Portland, & Seattle when he connected Pasco and Portland in the first decade of the 20th Century. 115 years later, the empire's vitality is as strong as ever.

I saw the garage scene at Backdrop Village (maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Eversong/218/202/2204) and decided to pop on overalls and make myself look like a gearhead. Nothing in reality could be further from the truth.
I am far too short for the built in animations. I had to rez a box to stand on and add a pose of my own.

Just looking back over some old shots I came across this from 7 years ago. Some of my followers may remember that I've issued this previously but I still find it astonishing that a bird can even attempt to swallow something so large. In the end the cormorant gave up trying and the bream eventually recovered and swam off to tell its pals about its near death experience.
Thanks to all who have visited, commented or faved (it would be nice if you left a comment too) my photos. It is very much appreciated. Constructive criticism welcomed.

A quick in the moment capture. I stepped out of my car and grabbed this scene at traffic light. Handheld.

The Theodore Roosevelt Lake Bridge is a vehicular bridge traversing Theodore Roosevelt Lake between Gila County and Maricopa County, Arizona.[2] Prior to its completion, traffic on Arizona SR 188 traveled directly on top of the Theodore Roosevelt Lake Dam. The bridge's completion relieved traffic over the dam. It had been designed to accommodate the width of two Ford Model-T automobiles, but increasing vehicle widths meant that the dam could only support one-way traffic until the new bridge opened.[3]
Per the United States Bureau of Reclamation, in 1995, along with other bridges such as the Brooklyn Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge, the bridge was listed by the American Consulting Engineers Council as one of the top twelve bridge designs in the United States,[3] and is the "longest two-lane, single-span, steel-arch bridge in North America".[3] The build contract was awarded to Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc. of Plain, Wisconsin,[1] with an overall total cost of $21.3 million USD in 1992.[3] It was initially painted sky blue, but has since turned white.[4]
Steel material for the bridge was originally a part of the Washington Street elevated in Boston, Massachusetts. When the elevated was torn down in 1987, the steel was shipped to Japan and melted into bars, then shipped again as building materials.[5]
This bridge was the beginning or ending of the Apache Trail, a very scenic dirt road all the way to Phoenix depending on which way you were going. It takes several hours to complete. Our monsoons destroyed parts of the trail some years ago and they just got it repaired and reopened it last year. It is a very scenic drive and worth while taking the trip if you love the outdoors in Arizona. It is one of my favorite drives but not for the faint of heart :)
The Apache Trail in Arizona was a stagecoach trail that ran through the Superstition Mountains. It was named the Apache Trail after the Apache Indians who originally used this trail to move through the Superstition Mountains.
The historic Apache Trail linked Apache Junction (33.4152°N 111.5807°W) at the edge of the Greater Phoenix area with Theodore Roosevelt Lake (33.6725°N 111.1531°W), through the Superstition Mountains and the Tonto National Forest.
From Apache Junction heading northeast to Tortilla Flat, the Trail - named The E. Apache Trail (Arizona State Rt 88) at this point - is paved, turning into a dirt road a few miles east of Tortilla Flat, and continuing as such for nearly the full remainder of its length. The section east of Apache Junction is known officially as State Route 88. It is also the main traffic corridor through Apache Junction, turning into Main Street as the road passes into Mesa, and regains the Apache name by becoming Apache Boulevard in Tempe, ending at Mill Avenue. Prior to the completion of the Superstition Freeway in 1992, the Apache Junction portion of the Apache Trail was part of US Highway 60, which was rerouted to the Superstition Freeway once it was completed.
The Trail winds steeply through 40 miles (64 km) of rugged desert mountains, past deep reservoir lakes like Canyon Lake and Apache Lake. The narrow, winding road is unpaved from just east of the town of Tortilla Flat to Roosevelt Dam; there are steep cliff drops and few safety barriers. The trail requires caution when driving and it is not recommended for large RVs, SUVs, or caravans. Some large RV rental companies in the US do not allow their vehicles to be taken on this route.
Fires and floods in 2019 resulted in a massive landslide between the Fish Creek Hill Overlook and Apache Lake Marina.[1] This section of road was closed for repairs, and reopened in September 2024.[2]

An early start was required to catch the first light in this wonderful wild flower wood in Cornwall. We had visited this location a few times before over the last 8 years. Fortunately we chose the right week for the wild garlic to be in full flower. We had our clothes pegs ready for the overwhelming pungent scent that almost makes you feel high as a kite. Maybe let’s keep the pegs in our pockets! . What another amazing experience witnessing the stupendous mix of bluebells and white flowers densely growing chaotically through the wood. The sun found its way through the lush green canopy casting some nice dappled light on the ground.
The challenge was to find an attractive composition to represent how it actually was that morning so basically I tried to ‘tame the chaos’ in a single photograph. It’s not easy when you have a tidy orderly brain but eventually I came across this scene . I hope you like it as much as I do.😷
