Puerta Sur Angkor Thom-Siem Reap-Camboya.

Upsala Glacier as seen from the International Space Station, October 2009. Click here for photo notes. The Upsala Glacier is a large valley glacier in Argentina's Los Glaciares National Park. It flows out from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, which also feeds the nearby Perito Moreno Glacier. The terminus of the glacier is at Lago Argentino. The Upsala Glacier is well known for its rapid retreat[1], which many see as evidence for global warming. The name comes from Uppsala University, which sponsored the first glaciological studies in the area.
The glacier's almost continual recession up until 1999 has recently slowed (as of 2003). The previous acceleration in ice motion during the two decades preceding 1999 may have been augmented by the release of backstress when the glacier retreated beyond the islands in Brazo Upsala.

This image is a reproduction of a photo of Bow Valley in Banff that I took in 1986 from the summit of Sulfur Mountain. Located in Alberta’s Rockies, Banff is one of Canada's most popular tourist destinations with more than four million people visiting Banff National Park each year. Banff is surrounded by Mount Rundle, Mount Norquay, Cascade Mountain and Sulphur Mountain. Near Banff, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are among the most visited destinations in Canada. Located in the Ten Peaks Valley, Moraine Lake is considered one of the most beautiful glacier lakes in the world. In 1986, I remember vividly sitting on the edge of Moraine Lake and absorbing very slowly the remarkable beauty of this turquoise lake starting to crystallize in early October. It was magical and that special moment had a mystical effect on me!

Transcribed reproduction of a diagram Yuri Kondratyuk drew during his service in WWI and later self-published. Looks a lot like Apollo's flight path. I only learned of him in Episode 9, " The Sacrifice of Cassini", of Cosmos: Possible Worlds.

Of all my wildlife blessings over the years, this encounter has to be in the top three. While walking the beaches of Ft. Pickens Florida back in early April of 2021, I had a pod of 12+ Bottlenose dolphins frolicking some 50 yards off the beach.
Through my travels and my many years in the Navy, I have seen and photographed dolphins too many times to count. This morning, and these two dolphins in particular, were acting very differently than any other I have seen.
They were hovering just below the surface, making wakes that indicated that at least one of them was moving about while submerged. Then they would both rise, take a breath and resume the same action. Being a kid from Indiana, I had no idea what was going on. I thought she might be giving birth, but having only been around dogs, cows, horses, buffalo, alpacas and my bride (twice) while giving birth…I had no idea what dolphin labor, especially with 99% of it taking place under water and out of view, looked like.
This photograph captures the last time they broke the surface together. This is the breath taken to make that last push that grants birth.
The next photograph taken and already shared, was of the baby breaking the surface and taking its first breath.
Looking back now, the odd wake while submerged was her staying somewhat stationary while he swam circles around her…no doubt keeping one eye on his bride, and the other looking out for possible predators while she was at her most vulnerable.
Witnessing special times can be such a gift from God!
William-Adolphe Bouguereau,
Oil on Canvas. 1874
Before I became interested in art, I attended an exhibition of W.A. Bouguereau at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford, Connecticut. I was mesmerized from the beginning and remain so whenever I see his art. Before the pandemic, I was blessed to have another opportunity when the San Diego Museum of Art hosted an exhibition of his work. I chose this painting and photographed it in sections. This girl is so perfect in my eyes that I chose to make it a portrait. I added my interpretation in editing. The original of this painting can be seen at www.bouguereau.org/Enfant-Tressant-Une-Couronne-Child-Bra...

Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird showing off his beautiful red gorget. Another shot from the movie clip. What a poser. He flashed his gorget repeatedly. I'm not sure if he was in love, or warning other birds to stay away. When it comes to hummingbirds, reproduction looks like a knock down drag out fight at 70 miles an hour. I do appreciate your visits and comments. Thanks again.
