** Image d'archives : juin 2018 **

The Yellowhammer is a brightly colored passerine bird. The male in nuptial plumage sports a yellow and reddish plumage of the most beautiful effect. This species is known for its song described locally by several words which only remind the rhythm and are only a pale imitation of the real sound emitted by the bird.

The Yellowhammer is widely distributed across most of Europe, with some populations partially migratory or dispersive after breeding. It frequents cultivated areas and wooded pastures, forest edges and heather moors.

The Yellow Sparrow is threatened by habitat destruction and its population appears to be declining, but currently the species is not globally threatened.

Image taken behind a camouflage net and in a natural environment.

PS: A big thank you to all those who choose to look at, comment on and like my photos. It is very appreciated, as you have noticed, I no longer respond directly to your comment just to say in fact "thank you and have a good day", but in return I will leave a small trace with you on one or more of your editions.

This Greenhouse was built between 1892 and 1905 by the architect Alfonse Balat for King Leopold II. It has the shape of a church. The iron construction elements are decorated with Art Nouveau floral motifs. The central part is dug with three meter deep pits (1945 and 1987) to accommodate fan palms that have grown too big.

A White-tailed Deer (Odocoileus virginianus) buck is constantly aware of all things in our surrounding habitat as a matter of survival and in matters of reproduction. At this time of the year it is close to the breeding season for these animals and they are tentatively looking for a mate on the National Bison Range near St. Ignatius, Montana, U.S.A.

Mating takes place mainly in early spring and frequently lasts between 12 hours and 7 days. It can therefore be observed very easily. This prolonged mating is probably a way for males to prevent competition with other males.

The Pride of Baltimore was an authentic reproduction of a 19th-century Baltimore clipper topsail schooner, commissioned by citizens of Baltimore, Maryland as a Goodwill Ambassador of that city and the State of Maryland. It was lost at sea with four of its twelve crew on May 14, 1986.

The Pride of Baltimore II, a replica vessel of more modern design commissioned to replace the Pride in 1988, now sails in that same goodwill role.

I really don't know if this cute little building is vintage and has been relocated to this site, or if it a reproduction made to look Victorian, period authentic to the area.

It sits perched upon the New Westminster boardwalk in Westminster Pier Park, that walks you along the scenic Fraser River.

The New Westminster Quay location makes for a beautiful view point and fabulous place to watch tugboats work their way up and down the Fraser River. ( as seen in my last couple of images)

I purposely included a couple of pedestrians to give you a sneak preview of the boardwalk next to follow.

New Westminster is the oldest city in western Canada.

New Westminster is a historically important city in the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada, and is a member municipality of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. It was founded by Major-General Richard Moody as the capital of the new-born Colony of British Columbia in 1858, and continued in that role until the Mainland and Island Colonies were merged in 1866, and was the Mainland's largest city from that year until it was passed in population by Vancouver during the first decade of the 20th Century.

It is located on the right bank of the Fraser River as it turns southwest towards its estuary, on the southwest side of the Burrard Peninsula and roughly at the centre of the Greater Vancouver region. ( Wikipedia )

This dock isn't losing ground... it is losing the water it floats on! Cascade Lake is actually a reservoir and during the late summer, the impact on the water table is noticable as water is siphoned off the 40-mile long lake for irrigation. The dock will soon be high and dry on ground... the only water remaining at the northern end will be a small stream inear the oposite shore. When the rains and snow melt in teh springtime, the lake will fill again.
