The color green represents envy and jealousy. The phrase "green with envy" is a fairly common saying that is said to come from Shakespeare's metaphorical use of color in both Othello and The Merchant of Venice. In Othello, Iago uses "green-eyed monster" to describe the jealousy that threatens to drive Othello mad.

PRIMFEED

This scenery is completely real but it needed a focal point not just a lone road–i.e. a person, a model to represent newness. I also needed to expand my Photoshop skills for post-edits. Kick the tires. See what this editing software can do. So I asked Adobe Photoshop's artificial intelligence image generator to provide a bride and groom. Wallah, let me introduce you to soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. AI. Pretty good, Adobe, but that couple does not look entirely real yet so I better keep them small.

Almost though.

Yes, those are gravestones that align the road. Those graves in this cemetery accentuate the ephemeral cherry tree blossoms in this photo that will soon be gone. Cherry blossoms symbolize the temporary brilliance of life and its shortness. I know. Grim. But that's life. Sorry Mr. & Mrs. AI, chances are that you'll divorce. You might have a lethal accident or if not that, you'll certainly die as your equipment degrades and stops. Or will you?

Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plover_Cove_Reservoir:

Plover Cove Reservoir, located within Plover Cove Country Park, in the northeastern New Territories, is the largest reservoir in Hong Kong in terms of area, and the second-largest in terms of volume. It is the world's first freshwater coastal lake constructed from an arm of the ocean. Its main dam, which disconnected Plover Cove from the sea, was one of the largest in the world at the time of its construction.

Sam Mun Tsai (三門仔) is an area and a village in Yim Tin Tsai, Tai Po District, Hong Kong.

Sam Mun Tsai is one of the villages represented within the Tai Po Rural Committee. For electoral purposes, Sam Mun Tsai is part of the Shuen Wan constituency, which was formerly represented by So Tat-leung until October 2021. Sam Mun Tsai New Village or Sam Mun Tsai San Tsuen (三門仔新村) is a recognized village under the New Territories Small House Policy.

The fishermen now residing in Sam Mun Tsai New Village used to live on boats at the original Sam Mun Tsai, close to Tai Kau of Luk Heung, now at the northeastern shore of Plover Cove Reservoir. They were relocated to their current residence in 1966, as a result of the construction of the Plover Cove Reservoir. At the time, 36 families were moved to housing on land. Extensive renovation work was conducted at the Sam Mun Tsai Fishermen's Village in 2006-2007.

The shot was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's troop of echoes which came flowing through the door in his poem lines of ‘The Haunted Palace.’

Painting creates silence. You could examine the objects themselves, the actors in a Dutch still life—this knobbed beaker, this pewter salver, this knife—and, lovely as all antique utilitarian objects are, they are not, would not be, poised on the edge these same things inhabit when they are represented.

These things exist—if indeed they are still around at all—in time. It is the act of painting them that makes them perennially poised, an emergent truth about to be articulated, a word waiting to be spoken. Single word that has been forming all these years in the light on the knife’s pearl handle, in the drops of moisture on nearly translucent grapes: At the end of time, will that word be said?”

My friends decided to rest for a while after walking in Old Havana for more than half the day. So, I started to look for some internet cafe to answer some emails. I've been to 2 places and got no luck. Suddenly a local lady point out a Hotel that have it.

I thought it's gonna be a place with tens of computer units but in disbelief I found just a unit in the cafe with one lady who's already using it. I try to wait for about more than 15 minutes and I know I can patiently wait even for another 15 because of the refreshment that I'm having at that moment. Apparently, I realized that I'm with a group of friends that are waiting for me to join them. Not knowing if this lady speaks English, I approached her and ask if she can let me use the unit for a quick 5 minutes. Without any hesitation she said yes with a smile and that's started all the nice quick conversation.

Yup, Tina is her Name and I found out that she's doing some essay before I approached her and she's from Norway. She's currently traveling around the world and already had finished visiting Asia and started Latin America, last was Panama and now Cuba for almost a week then next leg is Peru. She also said that she's still got some couple of months to finish all her destinations. Then she'll get back to work and studies after accomplishing her feat.

Oh what a jet setter she is. Makes me feel happy to meet someone who's doing something that I really dream of doing. (TRAVELLING all around the world without thinking of work) But, also more than happy that she likes the idea of an impromptu photo shoot.

Don't worry Tina you still looks good even without make up. Enjoy experiencing the world and have a safe trip!!

This represents a technical comparison between two developers: Karl Matthias' custom designed 2B-1 Divided developer, and PMK Pyro.

This image is from the 120 format Adox CHS 100 II negative developed in 2B-1 for 4 minutes in each bath. The half of the roll developed in 2B-1 had about a stop more density in general than the PMK half of the roll, which was no surprise, as PMK is known for sucking up some of the exposure, and 2B-1 is stated as delivering a speed boost between 1/2 and 1 stop. With a film like Adox CHS 100 II, this can come in handy, since I find it doesn't really offer full box speed without overdeveloping it, something I avoid doing.

2B-1 doesn't handle the grain structure with as much "diplomacy" as the PMK does (again, no surprise), but it does deliver better shadow information. Tonal separation and acutance is excellent. Well worth including in the arsenal of developer recipes, IMO.

This image represents a few hours of experimenting to try and create something worth photographing, as is often the same with water droplet refraction photography. I used some fun new tools to do this, too!

First off, the “behind-the-scenes” image illustrates everything pretty well: donkom.ca/bts/_1090402.jpg . I’m using a Platypod Max with some gooseneck arms and a couple of Litra torches for all of the lighting here, which you can currently get all together as a bundle from Platypod as part of their Black Friday special: platypod.com/black-friday-2019

I cannot recall where I got the black porcelain container, but I know previously I’ve found bowls at thrift stores that work: you need it a couple inches deep with a relatively flat bottom, because under the water you’ll place a “third hand tool” that clamps the foreground object – in this case, a Dandelion seed. The clamp doesn’t have to be very far submerged, so long as no light falls on it and the camera is perpendicular to the surface of the water, the reflection will overpower it.

The Camera and lens is the Lumix S1R with the 24-105mm F/4 kit lens, a great combination for macro when paired with the “high-resolution” mode. This mode allows for the camera to quadruple its resolution by taking multiple photos and slightly shifting the sensor between each shot to really amplify your details, which indirectly overcomes a problem in macro photography: depth of field. I don’t need a 187MP image, but I can shoot an image with such detail with the intension of throwing most of it away via cropping. I only really need a 20MP image, which is what I’ve got here! Getting farther away from your subject gives you more depth, so the best part of this? No focus stacking required. This is just a single frame.

I love the gooseneck arms which are so much easier to position for shots like this than a flash or even a continuous light on a tabletop tripod; you can get the slight very close and accurately placed to the subject. This is important, because the light is not hitting the Dandelion seeds, it’s just hitting the background!

Simple ingredients at play, and we have some fun results. Originally I was going to use three seeds, but two just felt better, like two people dancing. It’s difficult to anthropomorphize water droplets, but I think this comes close!

If you haven’t seen my new macro book, it’ll be out in Q1 2020 and can be pre-ordered here: skycrystals.ca/product/pre-order-macro-photography-the-un...

_REPRESENT. TEAM

Representing the german letter "Ä" - "Äste" = "branches"

...at Beamish Museum in County Durham, represents the home of a well-to-do tenant farmer in the 1820s. Pockerley actually had a tenant farmer until 1990, when the hall was 'annexed' by the museum, opening to the public five years later following extensive development and restoration.

Pockerley (the name is derived from the Anglo-Saxon words 'pock' or 'pokor', meaning 'pimple' or 'bag-like', and 'ley', meaning a woodland clearing) has stood on its hilltop site for several centuries, the earliest record of a settlement dating from a rental survey for the Bishop of Durham in 1183, though its defensive attributes suggest that there could have been an Iron Age hill fort there. Pictured is the main farmhouse, or 'new' house – dating from the late 1700s! – with the adjoining (though never connected) mediaeval strong house, or 'old' house, to the right. In the foreground is the ornamental section of the Hall's terraced gardens.

This is a belated upload, following a lull in shooting that prompted me to trawl through my old photographs in search of any 'hidden gems' I might previously have passed over (as you do). The original colour shot pre-dates my acquisition of the Nik Collection, and I thought it was a good candidate for what has rapidly become my favourite preset in Silver Efex Pro: 'Antique Plate II', which I am still determined not to over-use! :-)

There’s always a subtle, invisible line between “hello” and “goodbye.” Two different words that initially seem opposite in meaning can actually represent the same thing. It’s a powerful form of communication that has no real meaning until we assign one to it afterward. We’re never fully aware of when either “hello” or “goodbye” will impact our lives and feelings, and in that, there are more parallels than antonyms.

Outside shelves - porch (Master Nicholaus twelfth century) are represented the twelve months of the year (here August July June) - Basilica of San Zeno Verona

Basilica of San Zeno, Verona

Main masterpiece of Romanesque architecture in Italy, the Basilica of San Zeno is one of the most important buildings of the city. It is dedicated to the eighth bishop of Verona, a saint of African origin to which are attributed many miracles, and the conversion to Christianity of Veneto populations. The original nucleus of the San Zeno Basilica dates back to the fourth century, when a small church was built near the site of the Holy Burial.

The interior, with a Latin cross plan with three naves, presents a peculiar split on three levels: the crypt is at the bottom, topped by the first parish church and then from the presbytery (or Upper Church) which can be accessed via two majestic marble staircases. Even the great cloister (which is accessed through the left aisle) is Romanesque and dates from the twelfth century, composed of numerous small arches supported by twin columns, contains ancient tombs, ancient frescos and a shrine containing the wash of the friars.
