Fado is currently a world wide known symbol of Portugal, being represented for many years in foreign countries by Amália Rodrigues, and more recently by Dulce Pontes, Mariza and Katia Guerreiro, among others. Throughout the world, to the name of Portugal, there were two things immediately referred: the Fado and soccer. Although taking many forms, as it is sung differently in Porto, Coimbra and Lisbon, the Fado is, by self-earned right, the very expression of the Portuguese soul.

Amália Rodrigues known as the 'Rainha do Fado' ("Queen of Fado") was instrumental in popularising fado worldwide and travelled internationally throughout her career. Amália remains the best-selling Portuguese artist in history.

The Portuguese guitar or Portuguese guitarra (Portuguese: guitarra portuguesa) is a plucked string instrument with twelve steel strings, strung in six courses of two strings. It is one of the few musical instruments that still uses watch-key or Preston tuners. It is iconically associated with the musical genre known as Fado, and is now an icon for anything Portuguese.
The drinks in the back ground:
Beer lovers who come to Portugal are often disappointed by the range of Portuguese beers that are on offer. Essentially, there are just two: Super Bock and Sagres. Although they do taste different, enough that most people form a preference for one or the other, they’re both the same style of beer: a light-bodied pale lager.
Ginginha: If you are planning to visit Lisbon, Portugal, you will certainly run into a hole-in-the-wall shop selling shots of “ginginja, ” also known as ginginha or ginja, is a sour cherry liquor native to Portugal, particularly central Portugal around Lisbon and the town of Óbidos. Ginginja is 100% Portuguese and you will not find ginginja anywhere else!
Licor Beirão, is a Portuguese liqueur from the Beira region of Portugal. Originating in the 19th century, it’s a herbal liqueur flavoured with multiple botanicals, herbs and spices. It’s pretty popular in Portugal where it can be drank neat, in cocktails, in your coffee, and even in recipes for desserts and sweets. The exact recipe is still a family secret, but it’s known to include eucalyptus, cinnamon, rosemary, lavender, aniseed and mint.

As typical on anticyclonic winter days, the valleys and plains of neighboring Carinthia alpine region are covered by dense low clouds (Stratus) accumulated by a weak north-east current.
Due to the light flow these stratus clouds enter the valleys arranged from N/E towards S/W and press on the mountain passes; these masses are cold and humid, therefore "heavy", as if representing a vast mass of water, they cannot climb steep mountain slopes, while they seek an easy transfer through the lower areas of a mountain range or at the junction between 2 different ranges.
For this reason the Alpine passes and saddles, where the air masses from different areas cross and converge, are decidedly interesting from a meteorological and microlimatic point of view.
Among other things, the cloudy/foggy mass has waves, always referring to the water which well represents the movements of dense and heavy air, which at times cover the area, leaving the ice crystals that make up these clouds on all surfaces, for then withdraw and let the phenomenon be appreciated.
The picture represents the feelings and point of view of the intelligence behind the camera. This disease of our age is boredom and a good photographer must combat it. The way to do this is by invention – by surprise. When I say a good picture has surprise value I mean that it stimulates my thinking and intrigues me. The best way to achieve surprise quality is by avoiding clichés. Imitation is the greatest danger of the young photographer.

Hoy, compartamos cómo orar a Dios juntos.
1. ¿Cómo orar a dios correctamente?

The Giardini Botanici Villa Taranto (16 hectares) are botanical gardens located on the western shore of Lake Maggiore in Pallanza, Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, Italy.
The gardens were established 1931-1940 by Scotsman Neil McEacharn who bought an existing villa and its neighboring estates, cut down more than 2000 trees, and undertook substantial changes to the landscape
Today the gardens contain nearly 20,000 plant varieties, representing more than 3,000 species, set among 7 km of paths. Among its collections are azalea, cornus, greenhouses of Victoria amazonica, and 300 types of dahlias. It also contains a small herbarium and the founder's mausoleum.

Painted ceramic benches representing all the provinces in Spain are arranged round the square.
It was built because of the Ibero-american Exhibition of 1929, held in Seville. Its creator was Aníbal González. He mixed a style inspired by the Renaissance with typical elements from the city: exposed brick, ceramics and wrought iron (worked by Domingo Prida). Its floor plan is semicircular. It is dominated by 2 towers, one on each side of the enclosed area, which frame the central building where the main rooms are. Between the two towers runs a network of galleries with an arcade of semicircular arches leading to exits in different parts of the square, where a fountain stands.

The Thurisaz rune (ᚦ) represents the ability to confront obstacles, the strength to endure adversity, and the protection of mighty forces. Like the thorn it symbolizes, this rune reminds you that true strength lies not just in attack, but in defense and resilience. It suggests that you have the inner fortitude to face any challenge that stands in your way, urging you to stand firm and embrace your power.
Thurisaz is a rune of both conflict and transformation, showing that through struggle, growth is achieved. It calls on you to harness your inner strength wisely, channeling your energy to break through barriers and drive positive change. More than just a force of destruction, Thurisaz is a guardian—its presence in your path signifies that you are not alone, as unseen forces shield and guide you. Whether in battle, personal trials, or major life transitions, this rune is a reminder that your resilience is your greatest weapon, and through perseverance, victory is within reach.
"Thurisaz is the force that breaks and the strength that endures—embrace the storm, for it forges the warrior within."

¿Estaremos dispuestos a ello?.

Momotus aequatorialis (Andean motmot / Barranquero)
Bird in freedom. La Ceja, Colombia; Central Andes; 2.300 meters above sea level.
The Andean Motmot, as the English name implies, is the Andean representative of the "Blue-crowned Motmot" complex. For many years, all members of this group were considered to be conspecific, but this group now is reclassified as representing five different species. The Andean Motmot occurs in humid montane forests of the Andes mountains of South America, from Colombia south to Bolivia. Andean motmot is a big bird about 50 cm from beak to tail.
These birds often sit still, and in their dense forest habitat can be difficult to see, despite their size. They eat small prey such as insects and lizards, and will also regularly take fruit.

These cabins stand proudly on the crest of the Gouville dunes, well aligned and with multicolored roofs. They represent an ideal place for local photographers and painters and are also the emblem of the seaside resort of Gouville-su-Mer. Set up by the first tourists almost a century ago, these cabins were a small place where tourists staying at the hotel could change clothes and grab a bite to eat. Tourists stored beach games, clothing, fishing instruments there and served as shelter in case of bad weather. During the Second World War, many cabins were destroyed by the occupying army. As soon as freedom was regained, the cabins began to flourish again little by little on the dune. In the 1980s, more than a hundred cabins were located in the dune but the coastal law put an end to their establishment.

With two Le Mans wins, dozens of grand prix victories, five Targa Florios, a Manufacturers’ Championship, and the build of some of the pre-war period’s most celebrated sports and luxury automobiles to its credit, it is no wonder that the Bugatti marque is regularly honored at world-class concours d’elegance and museums. The Molsheim, France-based brand is so esteemed that a commemoration of its 100th anniversary was never in doubt. So when the occasion arrived in 2009, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance duly pronounced Bugatti’s centenary as one of the event’s guiding themes.
This opportunity was not lost on Bugatti Automobiles SaS, the modern successor to Ettore Bugatti’s original Alsatian concern. The company’s signature product, the 1,001-horsepower Veyron 16.4, had spent years in careful development by the VW Group’s specialized engineers, and was received with justifiable acclaim by journalists and enthusiasts alike upon its 2005 introduction, redefining the benchmark for the modern hypercar in the process.
The Veyron was capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.46 seconds, en route to a top speed just over 408 km/h (nearly 254 mph). Built around a magnificent mid-mounted, quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W-16 engine with four valves per cylinder and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, it astonished the world with its surefootedness even at the most extreme speeds, enabled by a full-time Haldex all-wheel-drive system. The stopping power was stunning, as the Veyron was anchored by massive carbon-ceramic disc brakes with 15.7-inch discs and eight-piston, four-pad calipers up front, while 15-inch discs with six-piston, two-pad calipers were mounted at the rear. The alloy wheels, respectively 20 and 21 inches at the front and rear, were shod with special Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 PAX run-flat tires engineered specifically for the Veyron.
Three different drive modes governed the dizzying array of technology: a Normal mode, at which the ride height was 4.9 inches; a Handling mode that deployed the rear spoiler and lowered ride height to 3.15 inches; and a special, key-activated High-Speed mode that dropped ride height to 2.56 inches in front and 2.75 at the rear, while changing the spoiler position. Even the car’s ancillary systems, including no fewer than 10 radiators, were marvels of automotive engineering conceived to perform under the most demanding circumstances.
All of this was encased within an intricately hand-crafted structure, actually shorter in overall length than a modern Porsche 911, though riding on a longer 106.7-inch wheelbase, while being noticeably lower and wider than the benchmark German sports car of the day. It was instantly and definitively recognizable as the pinnacle product that it aspired to be—the modern Bugatti, a sporting speed machine that looked and performed like absolutely nothing else on the road.

Eight benches in total were painted by two visual and media artists selected in a June/July contest open to Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit and Métis) or BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour).
“They look amazing,” said Slattery. “It’s really great because they pull in the BIA colours and it’s all about the theme ‘eat, shop, live, explore’ downtown.”
The themes Live, Shop, Eat and Explore were represented on four sidewalk decals with the added challenge of each decal containing just one corporate colour. The decals needed to capture the unique, retail, food, and lifestyle opportunities in the charming town of Tillsonburg. Digitally drawn doodles for each theme were arranged to surround stylized type highlighting heritage stops, shopping, and activities such as Turtlefest as well as the rural nature of the area.’
Each of the artists were able to visit Tillsonburg, explore the downtown and ‘live the life,’ said Slattery, and from there they went to work.
The benches will be located in the downtown along Broadway, or side streets like Ridout or Bridge streets, creating an ‘art path from one end of the core to the other.’
“We want to make sure people know that Downtown Tillsonburg isn’t just Broadway but also the side streets,” said Slattery. “And there’s lots of shops and patios and things to explore along the side streets too.”

And, anyway, every image only halfway represents reality, whereas the other half is rather, more or less, fulfilling our imagination :-)

Papilio palamedes, the Palamedes swallowtail or laurel swallowtail, is a North American butterfly in the family Papilionidae.
The wingspan ranges from 4 1⁄2 to 5 1⁄8 inches.
This species may be found in habitats such as cypress swamplands, coastal swamplands, wet riparian forests, bay forests, and savannas.
The Palamedes swallowtail is encountered from May to October in southeastern Virginia and from March to December in more southern regions. In Mexico it is represented by subspecies P. p. leontis.
Males seek females by patrolling near forest edges and forest openings. In courtship, the male and female will fly about a foot apart, slowly flying together in unison. The male will then fly above and behind the female to disperse his pheromones and he will continue to do this until the female decides to mate with him. - Wikipedia

Despite the very grey sky, this was a great show. The markings on the side of the plane ahead of the cockpit are flags of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, each flag marking a (free) display the aircraft gave in support of Health workers during the pandemic. On the other side are flags to represent the displays made over hospitals in England - over 250 such across the UK. The light patches behind the cockpit are the hand painted names sponsored by donors to raise money for the charity NHS Together. Interesting that the flags can be resolved by this camera but the names cannot!

Going through my photos, found this attempt of a selfie with Neowise. Might be not the best quality photo, but it has something to say for me.
Firstly, it's kind of a once in a lifetime selfie :)
Secondly, the Plough (7 brightest stars of Ursa Major - the Great Bear constellation) can be seen very clearly together with the position of Neowise relating to the Plough. Also it can be seen that Neowise was not near as bright as the Plough, but more of the same brightness as other stars of Ursa Major - like the two stars to the left and down from Neowise. On the night of 21 July, those stars would be lambda Ursae Majoris and mu Ursae Majoris - they are supposed to represent the right hind paw of the Great Bear constellation. (I know it requires a lot of imagination to actually see the Bear, I never could manage that lol)
