The flowers represent so much in humans, the flower that it is of the type of roses, tulips, lilies, dahlias, hydrangeas ... They are the heart that everyone protects in secret, sensitive side that we do not show for not not lose its strength, and this sincere side so fragile that all our petals have lost it ... so yes flowers are not only for women. 💐 🌷 🌹 🌺 🌸 🌼 🌻

The picture represents the feelings and point of view of the intelligence behind the camera. This disease of our age is boredom and a good photographer must combat it. The way to do this is by invention – by surprise. When I say a good picture has surprise value I mean that it stimulates my thinking and intrigues me. The best way to achieve surprise quality is by avoiding clichés. Imitation is the greatest danger of the young photographer.

The monastery complex was built in the 11th century. Probably funded by Kazimierz the Restorer. The facilities were built of granite and limestone available in the area. The hill and buildings were surrounded by a stone wall and rebuilt many times. Another reconstruction was made in the 15th century, which gave the monastery and the church gothic features. The church and monastery are covered with stellar and crystal vaults.

Under the entire complex there is a group of cellars covered with rocker vaults. It is one of the best preserved underground rooms from the Romanesque era in Poland. Particularly noteworthy is the "lower church" with a stone Romanesque altar.

The interior of the "upper church" comes from the 18th century reconstruction and represents mainly the Rococo and Baroque styles.

Zespół klasztorny został zbudowany w XI wieku. Prawdopodobnie ufundowany przez Kazimierza Odnowiciela. Obiekty zostały wzniesione z granitu i wapienia dostępnego w okolicy. Wzgórze i budynki były otoczone kamiennym murem i wielokrotnie przebudowywano. W XV w. dokonano kolejnej rekonstrukcji, która nadała klasztorowi i kościołowi cechy gotyckie. Kościół i klasztor pokrywają gwiaździste i kryształowe sklepienia.

Wnętrze "górnego kościoła" pochodzi z okresu przebudowy XVIII w. i reprezentuje głównie styl rokokowy i barokowy.

This image represents an unexpected sight. Exploring areas near Kanab, Utah, we were on our way to Old Paria, which was billed as a ghost town with a wooden structure which would make for a wonderful foreground against the striated hills behind. We read that the structure was actually built as a movie prop and was used in westerns, including The Outlaw Josey Wales. Supposedly, it was damaged and moved to higher ground nearby to protect it from floods. We found, or rather didn't find the structure, which we're pretty sure no longer exists. At least we couldn't find it, and it wasn't for lack of trying. We were rewarded, however, with this view along the way. Luckily, the area had been dusted with snow that morning, adding a delightful frosting to the hills and gullies and the remnants of the snowstorm in the sky.

Amazing how one setup can represent your life....

Coffee & snacks...home made and fresh..

Paper to draw on or to scribble words/poems...

A headphone for some music

Pieces of nature to remind you there is still an outdoors....

The ash tray... No I don't smoke... but I do need to sharp my pencil, right 😉

Have a lovely Sunday all....

For Macro Mondays #love theme

Represents that intense, all-encompassing love we feel for our children. (Most of the time!)

The image shows my youngest son's wrist identification band from when he was born in hospital. It's been hanging around the kitchen for ** years for some reason; I've never worked out why I haven't put it away safely. His birthday was two days ago, and meant that the year he was born we both ended up coming out of hospital on Valentine's day; the best valentine's present ever...! :-)

Image is less than 2.5" across, the wooden heart is around 1/3rd of inch.

Anakena, a paradise beach:

Anakena, which is the main beach on Easter Island, represents the typical picture that we all have when we think of a paradisiacal beach. Its white and fine coral sand, crystalline turquoise sea, calm waves and coconut palms (brought from Tahiti several decades ago) make it an ideal place for rest and leisure.

Anakena beach invites to bathe at any time of the year, as the water temperature is maintained at an average of a pleasant 20ºC, with small variations in summer and winter.

Anakena is still a pretty unspoiled beach, with few swimmers, especially during the morning (organized tours usually arrive in the afternoon) or in the low season, which allows, sometimes, to enjoy alone this small, remote and beautiful paradise.

Fulda Cathedral (Fuldaer Dom, also Sankt Salvator) is the former abbey church of Fulda Abbey and the burial place of Saint Boniface. Since 1752 it has also been the cathedral of the Diocese of Fulda, of which the Prince-Abbots of Fulda were created bishops. The abbey was dissolved in 1802 but the diocese and its cathedral have continued. The dedication is to Christ the Saviour (Latin: Salvator). The cathedral constitutes the high point of the Baroque district of Fulda, and is a symbol of the town.

About the Bell towers:

The facade is flanked by two towers 65 metres high, the four storeys of which are clearly delineated by ledges. Sandstone statues, greater than life size, by Andreas Balthasar Weber, represent to the right Saint Sturm as abbot, with a mitre, abbot's staff and book, and to the left Saint Boniface as bishop with a crook and a Bible pierced by a dagger. On the third storey are copper and gilt numerals and hands belonging to a mechanical clock and a sundial.

Four massive three-quarter columns accompanied by half-pilasters stand to either side of the main portal and support the architrave, the frieze with its triglyphs and the heavy cornices. On the architrave over segments of a round arch sit two large angels, supporting the arms of the Prince-Abbot Adalbert von Schleifras, sculpted by Balthasar Esterbauer, consisting of the arms of Fulda Abbey quartering those of von Schleifras.

The upper storey of the facade is divided by massive pillars. A large round-topped window is decorated with columns, inflexed arches and urns. The window is surrounded by sandstone sculptures representing the patron saints of Fulda, the twin brothers Simplicius and Faustinus, as knights. Their shields bear their symbol - three lilies - and the cross, the device of the abbey, both of which appear in the arms of the town of Fulda.

The central part of the facade is terminated by a triangular gable filled with urns and a round window. On the point of the gable stands a figure of Christ giving a blessing.

Representing something from the past in the distant future

In the language of flowers, ivy represents eternity. So does a circle. As we pass the longest day of the year, head into winter, and honor the return of light, I hold in my heart the wisdom of and gratitude for the cyclical nature of all things, for the turning of the wheel.

“Perlan – the Pearl – is an immersive museum that showcases Iceland’s extraordinary landscapes and nature in an accessible and engaging way. Its impressive hands-on, interactive exhibits and shows explain the country’s landforms, geology and wildlife. State-of-the-art technology elevates Perlan from an ordinary museum to one that guests will find innovative and memorable.

Alongside a fascinating display that focuses on the characteristics of Iceland’s changing glaciers, visitors can step into a hundred-metre-long artificial ice cave. An estimated 350 tons of snow gathered from Icelandic mountains were used in its construction. In graphic contrast, the museum’s Forces of Nature exhibit addresses the country’s volcanic systems and geothermal activity.

Styrmir, the museum’s spectacular indoor geyser, shoots a jet of water 25 metres into the air through the central atrium.

In Perlan’s domed 150-seat planetarium, the spotlight turns to the Aurora Borealis. Utilising 8K projection and 7.1 surround sound, the breathtaking Áróra show takes guests on a spellbinding journey through the origins and legends associated with the Northern Lights, bringing it vividly – and reliably – to life.

Perlan’s striking architecture adds an extra dimension to a visit. Located on Öskjuhlíð, the tallest hill in Reykjavik, it’s an easily recognised landmark, comprising six water tanks that support a glass dome which floods the interior with light. The museum’s wraparound observation deck offers an uninterrupted 360° panorama of the Icelandic capital and its surroundings.

Perlan represents Iceland in a nutshell. As such, it makes an ideal first or last stop on every tourist’s itinerary, whether they plan to venture beyond Reykjavik or choose to remain in the capital.”

These colors represent the various types of iron and mineral deposits on the Moon. The blue hues reveal titanium rich areas while orange and purple colors show regions relatively poor in titanium and iron. The white/gray tones refer to areas of greater exposure to sunlight.

The color green represents envy and jealousy. The phrase "green with envy" is a fairly common saying that is said to come from Shakespeare's metaphorical use of color in both Othello and The Merchant of Venice. In Othello, Iago uses "green-eyed monster" to describe the jealousy that threatens to drive Othello mad.

Image taken by Vik and representing quite well what 2 weeks of Iceland has been. Nevertheless, the expected “bad” weather provided some unexpected dramatic moments and shifts in mood which presented real challenges to be captured and worked on to display my images in a proper way.

The first figure represents the ever changing battle of El Alamein, a small railway station in Egypt that the British and Commonwealth soldiers under General Montgomery had to defend to prevent the German army from moving further into North Africa and reaching the oil reserves of Egypt and the middle east. In Europe, Britain was increasing it's Commando raids in Western Europe, destroying U-boat ports, oil reserves, factories and barracks, often taking with them Commando volunteers from the European countries they raided. Finally is an Italian soldier, Italy's power and influence was slowly being eroded as they were beaten back in Africa and the Balkans and the people at home lost faith in Mussolini.

Hope you like the figures, and a happy new year to everyone!! :)

Saludos!

I start with a picture that represents very well Iceland including the northern lights, the icelandic horses and the famous mount Kirkjufell. I focus the attention over the horse because his static behavior, trying to take a long exposure photography (25 seconds) using the horse as the protagonist. Hope you like the final result. Cheers!
