Omri asked me "What is a reporter?" as a result of hearing the news cast announcer on the car radio saying something like "… our Economics Reporter reports …"
I explained to him what a reporter is and what he does.
After a short while at our relatives he asked me for some paper and a pen.
I was sure he wanted to draw as he usually does when I saw he was scribbling feverishly.
I asked "What are you writing?"
He replied "It is a report."
I continued "What about?"
He said "It's a secret report, I don't want to talk about it!"
So I left it at that, not that I can read it anyhow, his report is encrypted (Omri is just starting to learn how to read and write and it is actually written in gibberish).

To locals in Ottawa Eric is not a stranger per se, in fact many of them will be very familiar with both his name and his face. Meet Eric Longley, Eric is a news reporter with the Ottawa CTV affiliate. I was wandering around the MGA Club's meeting being held on the grounds of the Museum of Science & Technology when I spotted Eric with his videographer.
I noticed they were setting up a shot so it appeared that he had a couple of minutes to spare so I introduced myself.
Eric was very gracious and told me that he was not very comfortable having his photograph taken. I assured him that this may well set him on a path to stardom, he agreed to take part, even though he was rightly skeptical about my claim.
Eric was born in Winnipeg Manitoba, he has a love for rock music and has been the lead singer in a number of rock bands. That love of rock music, performing and speaking to audiences spurred him on to pursue a career in journalism. Eric enrolled in the journalism programme at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) which is in Edmonton Alberta. He then found work in Saskatchewan, before moving to Ottawa about 15 years ago. He has worked for CTV his whole career.
On air Eric comes across as a very genuine individual with a great sense of humour. During my brief conversation with Eric these same attributes came through loud and clear. He is a great professional who enjoys his work, especially entertainment segments. I guess that rock music is in his veins.
