Thank u lynda for everything u did.

Here i am with my new Pentax. It was december 2003 when Alex put a camera in my hands and asked me to try. Since that time so many things happened, bad and good things. I had to reinvent myself so many times, and here I am stronger then ever. In many ways I can say I have had and still have a very exciting life. I may get tired, I may cry and I have been badly hurt more than once ..... but I am standing up again, again and again ...

One day Lynda picked up one of my photos and used it for one of her articles she writes for an American Magazine. What happened after that is just incredible. Now I have a press- pass card in my wallet.

My father told me: if u do good things to people u will have good things back, but not all people have something good to give .... And I learned my lesson well. The end of two bad relationships in less than two years taught me enough, enough to understand I have to go on my way, honestly and smiling .....

I AM ROMEOERGATTO ..... I will not surrender.

Special thanks to Lynda for giving a new light to my life.

Special thanks to Aidan for being there and drying my tears when I was in need of it

Special thanks to David F. a fantastic new friend

THANK U DAD .... THANKS TO YOU, IF I AM WHAT I AM

P.S. ALEX, the new pentax is fantastic

CLOSE THE CAMPS - Day 30 of a month of actions outside ICE San Francisco

Mabel Jimenez-Hernandez - Journalist

August 30, 2019 - Day 30 - Journalists Against Detention Camps

Today marks day 30! of a month of actions in the street in front of ICE San Francisco. On this last day of actions led by specific groups and communities, journalists showed up with mics, cameras and speakers to shed neutrality and take a stand.

From the organizers:

"Calling all reporters, writers, photojournalists, videographers, producers, investigators and media makers to take a stand against the inhumane conditions of migrant detention camps and the institutional racism of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP).

As journalists we are expected to remain neutral, unbiased. But we can no longer remain neutral in the face of atrocities committed against asylum seekers and undocumented Americans. It's time to speak out.

Members of the press have been a constant target of the current administration, especially those who cover immigration. Come stand in solidarity with us outside the ICE office in San Francisco.

Everyone is welcome."

Taking some inspiration from Tom, I decided that I needed a solution for my pen. The pen was the one last thing that I hadn't figured out. To be honest, I thought about this very solution about a month ago, but convinced myself (at the time) that it wouldn't work. After about 20 minutes, I'm about 80% there. A couple more iterations, and I'll have this one licked.

These two reporters came to ask us our opinions of libraries and e-books. We're guessing they chose us because there weren't many other visitors in the library that morning.

Swedish libraries pay 20 SEK (about 3USD) each time a patron "checks out" an e-book. U.S. libraries, by contrast, pay a monthly fee based on estimates of traffic. Either way, it's a rather different model than the traditional library system of "buy it once and lend it out until it wears out or gets lost."

as i was walking by this building i got flagged down by someone whom i thought was asking for directions but turned out to be a reporter for the globe. she wanted my opinions on buildings like this one in southie that are owned by prominent local landlords but otherwise neglected / filled with homeless people. i had no real strong opinion but felt required to give one since this reporter was standing right there -- it was a strange feeling. i'm usually much more in control in the course of my days.
