The History of the Ohio State Reformatory:

"The cornerstone laid on November 4, 1886 evolved into this magnificent Chateauesque structure. Cleveland architect Levi T. Scofield designed the Ohio State Reformatory using a combination of three architectural styles; Victorian Gothic, Richardsonian Romanesque and Queen Anne. This was done to encourage inmates back to a "rebirth" of their spiritual lives. The architecture itself inspired them to turn away from their sinful lifestyle, and toward repentance

The Reformatory doors were opened to its first 150 young offenders in September 1896. After housing over 155,000 men in its lifetime, the doors to the prison closed December 31, 1990.

Today the Ohio State Reformatory Historic Site receives visitors from all over the world. Every year tourists, movie buffs, thrill seekers and paranormal investigators walk through the halls of this majestic structure.

Ghostly History of OSR

As reported by News Channel 4, Columbus, Ohio 1997

Stone walls and iron bars they're still here, but what of the humanity, if you can call it that, of the old Ohio State Reformatory at Mansfield. What of the 154,000 inmates who passed through it's gates in it's 94 years as a working prison. Not to mention their keepers, the Wardens, and the Guards, the gravediggers, and the rest, what of them remains? As it turns out, more than you might think. No matter what their crime, some sent to Mansfield have never left. They rest unclaimed in a cheerless graveyard just outside the fence. 215 numbered markers laid out row on row. Most were victims of disease, influenza, tuberculosis, but some died of less natural causes; From the violence, that is all to common inside any prison and was far from unknown in this one. And the worst of it occurred well away from the main cell block with their rows of cages stacked tier on tier, and inmates, one or two to a cell. There were too many eyes, too many witnesses here, no the worst of it was reserved for a far lonelier place, deep beneath the prison ground. A place called local control, or solitary, by some, known by everyone else as the hole. Near total isolation can crack all but the toughest of cons, but none was so alone that there wasn't room for death. At least one inmate managed to hang himself, another set himself on fire, once two men left too long in a single tomb like cell, only one walked out, leaving his cellmate's body behind, stuffed beneath a bunk. Could there be other similar surprises? Or words left over from the days before the prison closed? Even when they're empty, some swear something walks these halls. It isn't enough for contemporary visitors not to wonder off alone while sight seeing, what‘s become one of Mansfield's more popular tourist attractions. But the bloodiest single incident in the old prison's history occurred outside it's walls. In July 1948, when the Reformatory's farm boss, his wife and daughter were kidnapped and shot to death by two parolees bent on revenge. A six state manhunt for the so called mad-dog killers ended in a shootout that left Robert Daniels of Columbus in custody and his partner, James West dead. "I'll get the Chair" Daniels told police as he signed the confession. And on January 3rd, 1949, he did. A year later in 1950 disaster struck again. This time, here in the living quarters of the Warden himself. The Warden's wife, removing a jewelry box from a closet shelf dislodged a pistol from it's hiding place. When it hit the floor, the gun went off inflicting a fatal wound. And within the decade, even more bad luck. The Warden, hard at work in his office, suffered a heart attack and died. All this was nearly 40 years ago and more, how then to explain the voices shaken tour guides swear they hear today? Man and woman talking, to faint to understand, to persistent to ignore and chilling to listeners who think they're alone, only to find themselves apparently eavesdropping on the warden and his wife locked forever in an endless conversation from beyond the grave.

Before Tomorrow Comes

Don't Loose Hope..

Don't turn away

Erase the repentance..

Let go of all the conviction

Probably you can change everything

Tomorrow is waiting for you..

This is the world I have now, getting darker...though temporarily. Since I don't go for the common narratives opposing my conscience, thus come what may. My body my choice, for those who share the same conviction, you know what I mean.

It's not all dark at all and forever.

Nebuchadnezzar's dream of Daniel 2 is to be fulfilled.

The *trans.hyu.man.ism agenda*, this has been done many decades ago and was behind close doors in secrecy. It's now very much advanced and enhanced /accelerated in our times, even speaking the last couple of years to billions who believed and submitted / bowed down without a question.

The rock will topple the last kingdom full of the 'transformed' being without the breathe of Yahuah. Just like the days of Noah, Yahusha said it in Matt 24, that His coming will be like in the days of Noah, unlike the flood, this will be destroyed the coming son of Elohiym, Yahusha Ha'Maschiach (Jesus) with fire.

It's a call for those who have the understanding and eyes to see, this is the time, hope not too late to go back to the teachings and the Torah and leave all beloved comfortable practices of the Spiritual Egypt and Babylon the Harlot of Revelations with all repentance and be reconciled to Abba Father Yahuah.

If you have the spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear, seek the truth and ask the Ruach Ha'Qodesch (Holy Spirit) for guidance and understanding.

For those unsure but took the poke, come to repentance to Yahusha while the door is open, it's between you and Him only and plead for mercies and the grace from our loving saviour. May the loving mercies of Yahuah the Most High and His son Yahusha will restore you to what you were before.

Homily: 15Sunday-OT071121

Subject: How are We Doing?

In preparing a homily, one must first read all of the readings that are going to be proclaimed on that day. The Gospel carries the central theme and the other readings support the theme. Today’s theme focuses on the call that each one of us hear, ponder and respond to…that God has uniquely given to you.

Let us begin with our Gospel reading where Jesus chose among his disciples (the Apostles) …because they are the living witnesses of Jesus-they where formed in HIS presence. Our Gospel reading, is very specific, in what Jesus is calling them to do. They are to go out in pairs, taking no money, the cloths on their backs and a walking stick. Into the community they go, preaching repentance, healing the sick…each disciple experiencing success and rejection. Interestingly, later in Mark 6, the twelve return and report to Jesus what they had accomplished. Jesus invites them to a quiet place…to reflect and rest with him.

Today, we are also called HIS disciples and the Church is our school of formation and teaches us how Jesus walks with us-supports us in how we live out our call. In our ordinary existence, each one of us have experienced Gods call. Sometimes the call we hear can be heard in the quiet times of our lives. At other times, it may come like a lighting strike. Either way, we respond, and we are sent out to accomplish the task at hand. We are doing God’s will, and in big or small, decisions we are building the Kingdom of God on earth.

From our second reading in Ephesians it says:

In him we were also chosen,

destined in accord with the purpose of the One

who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will,

In all wisdom and insight, he has made known to us

the mystery of his will in accord with his favor

that he set forth in him as a plan for the fullness of times,

to sum up all things in Christ, in heaven and on earth.

When we look into the mystery of life, we know our future is going to reveal surprises, good and bad, joyous and sorrowful, and it is in this landscape that we live out our calls. No call is the same, each person uniquely responds to the events that will emerge in each minute, hour and day.

Today’s takeaway question is: How are you doing with your unique call from God?

Recently, a parish member brought me a pile of books to read-yes a bit overwhelming when I have a much larger stack of books waiting to be read. So I sift through the books and find 3…the same 3 he has asked me to return. I picked up the first one, read a few interesting chapters and skimmed the rest of it. However, the second book I opened…stopped me in my tracks! This particular book speaks to the heart of my experience of being a disciple of Christ.

Here is one relatable quote from the book “the Human Adventure” by Carmelite Monk, William McNamara that should help you reflect on how well we are doing:

“We must come in or go out. All the way in-where the fire is and the sacrificial lovers are all aglow with the Spirit.”

William then quotes Dom Marmion, a renowned Benedictine abbot and spiritual writer. “He said the difference between the Saints and the rest of us is that they plunge boldly and daringly into the fire of God’s love and come out burned but incandescently and utterly transfigured. We put our little finger in, get slightly burned, and spend the rest of our days circling the fire…far enough away never to be burned again but close enough to be warmed by it.”

Jesus for us, is literally present to us in the Eucharist-he waiting for us to return and I suspect he is waiting for us to report. Each week, we return like the 12 disciples, we may be tired, but we are asked to report on how we are doing as His disciples. We will not answer this question with words but what feelings that resides deep in our hearts and conscience. We then follow our Jesus to a quiet place to rest. May we find rest here, as we offer up to God our hurts, joys, successes and failures…our very hearts to God.

Happy Rosh Hashannah ~~ Rosh HaShanna 5773 (aka 2012) -- May You, May Your, Always...

I am copying the following from Melissa:

www.flickr.com/photos/96683394@N00/7958689484/

We celebrate Rosh Hashanah with sweet foods, like apples dipped in honey and honey cake, as a wish for a sweet year. Some families also celebrate with symbolic foods like the head of a fish, pomegranates, and carrots.

The head of a fish is so that we can be "like the head and not like the tail." This is a symbol of having a year in which we are on top and not the bottom. Pomegranates are symbolic of plenty. Have you ever tried to count how many seeds there are in a pomegranate? Far too many to count. We want plenty of health and happiness for the New Year, just as many good things as there are seed in a pomegranate.

We also eat carrots, and it isn't just to see better in the dark. For Ashkenazi Jews, carrots symbolize the Yiddish word "merren" which also means more. We want more of all the good things in life. More health, more happiness, more success. For Sephardic Jews, carrots are symbolic of the phrase "Yikaretu oyveychem" which means may your enemies be cut down. We ask that those who wish bad for us not get their wish, that they don't succeed.

And of course, we have round Challot made with honey and raisins. These are another symbol of a sweet and happy year. We put decorations on the Challot, such as birds (symbolizing doves of peace).

Rosh Hashanah starts on the first day of Tishrei and lasts two days. Rosh Hashanah is the beginning of the Yamim Noraim, the ten days of atonement.

On Rosh Hashanah, all mankind is judged. HaShem writes the judgment for each of us in the Book of Life. This judgment is based on our lives of the year before, and is the decision of what will happen to us in the coming year.

But the judgment is not final. The days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur give us a time to change the judgment for good. We are given the chance to improve our coming year through Teshuvah (asking forgiveness), Tefillah (prayer), and Tzedakah (charity).

On Rosh Hashanah we wish each other "L'Shanah Tovah Tikatevuh" may you be written in for a good year. But Rosh HaShanah is not the end of the judgment, it is only on Yom Kippur that our judgment is made final.

www.akhlah.com/holidays/roshhashana/roshhashannah_traditi...

Everyone in the Universe will be judged this coming Tuesday and Wednesday.

Each person's judgement for the coming year is inscribed in the "Book of Life." One's judgement is not sealed until Yom Kippur, the Day of Return and Repentance, the following week. It's amazing how that ten days can lead to so much really focused thinking. I'm praying for me, my family , and my friends, for all our government officials, and for the lots and lots of good people everywhere. We can easily cover the known universe that way...;)) Yes, exponentials are very powerful...;))

"This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

Luke 24:46b-47

Just by looking and watching/observing nature, the symbiotic relationship with animals, the ecosystem etc., so deeply complex they couldn't have happened by random fluke out of the silly big bang. The big bang is an insult to the face of God, the creator. But that's how we are taught.

One day these so called clever big heads puffed up with their foolish pride of their own created world and propaganda by getting rid of God the creator and deceiving many, will be put to great shame. As everyone will bow down to the coming King of Kings and Lord of Lords, whether they like it or not. But anyway, most of them who would never come to repentance will be judged to the temporary hellfire containment below the ground. Actually, that's right there under the earth's core according to the Bible, yep that's horrendously hot and no way out. Can you imagine ending up in a place of pain and torment with no end?

On the second judgement, they will face the white throne judgement, but this is after the Millenial Kingdom is over , they'll be judged again to the second death which is the lake of fire, that's forever. According to Bible scholars, it could be the sun, right there, we see it every day, but which some people worship. They worship the creation, rather than the creator.

Sin sets us apart from God. God is grieved for a lost soul to die, because God can't change what he already stated, regarding his nature of judgement. Hellfire isn't designed for man, but for the fallen angels who are yet to be judged. We are caught up in this conflict between the fallen ones and God. Eve didn't just simply ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge, but could be a symbolic representation, she slept with Satan and have a child with him, Cain. Then on, the generation from Eve also bear the curse of sin. But God sent Jesus, His son to save mankind through sacrificial death on the cross and the resurrection, those who believe him and follow him in faith will be saved. This how we have hope.

Can't you see the rationale of how "knowledge" and too much knowledge destroys mankind? Where do all these knowledge bring us today? We are heading to WW3 , possibly eating loads of GM food products right now , transhumanism underway and advanced genetic manipulation etc. Who gave this knowledge? I have no doubt, these technologies go back to fallen angels on the loose, AKA aliens / space invaders, light gods or demon gods who introduced these advanced tech over again under a great cover up. Yes, these always get presented as conspiracy 'nuts' theories, but the great conspiracy of deep lies lay ahead, ready to be unveiled too. The Holy Scriptures stated these beings will be set loose at the end of days. The book of Enoch also described them as coming out in many different form... I wonder if this means " shape-shifting" or mainly these fallen angels will shape shift or as shape shifters.:/

Bloody Mary

Joel 2The Voice (VOICE)

2 Eternal One: Blow the trumpet in Zion;

signal the alarm from My holy mountain!

It is almost here. Let all who live in the land tremble

because the day of the Eternal One is coming.

2 Judgment will come on a black and fearful day;

a thick cloud of darkness will loom over everything.

A great and mighty army advances

like dawn spreading across the mountains.

Never has the world seen anything like it before,

nor will future generations ever see anything like it again.

3 The army is like a fire, consuming everything in its path—

a scorching flame burning everything behind them.

The land before them is sweet like the garden of Eden.

The land following—only a lonely desert; nothing is spared in judgment.

4 They look like horses arrayed for battle;

they charge ahead like warhorses.

5 They sound like clattering chariots racing over mountaintops,

like a crackling fire engulfing stubble,

Like a mighty army maneuvering for battle.

6 Seeing the result of God’s judgment looming, the nations writhe in anguish;

each face grows as pale as a ghost.

7 They run like champions into the fight.

Like skilled soldiers, they scale city walls;

Every man marches in formation, never leaving his rank.

8 Organized—no soldier crowds another.

Independent—each man marches straight ahead.

Together—they are unstoppable as they break through the defenses

and do not break off the attack.

9 They charge the city, scurry along its wall.

They swarm through windows into houses, like common thieves.

10 Before them the earth trembles and the heavens shake.

The sun and the moon become a void of darkness.

The stars lose their radiance too.

11 The Eternal One shouts commands from the front line of His army;

His forces are vast—uncountable mighty soldiers obey His command.

The day of the Eternal One is great, fearsome indeed.

Who can survive?

12 Eternal One: Even now, turn back your heart and rededicate yourselves to Me;

Show Me your repentance by fasting, weeping, and mourning.

13 Rip the wickedness out of your hearts; don’t just tear your clothing.

Now return to the Eternal, your True God.

You already know He is gracious and compassionate.

He does not anger easily and maintains faithful love.

He is willing to relent and not harm you.

14 Who knows? Perhaps He will turn and relieve you of this threat,

and leave behind some blessing as He goes—

Maybe enough grain and wine to offer

to the Eternal, your True God?

15 Blow the trumpet in Zion; set apart a time for fasting;

tell everyone to be still and stop working.

16 Assemble the people. Consecrate the congregation.

Gather the elders and other leaders,

The young children, and even the nursing babies.

Let the bride and groom leave their chambers on their wedding night.

17 Let the priests, the Eternal’s servants, stand between the porch and the altar

and weep as they intercede. Let them say,

Priests: Have pity on Your people, O Eternal One!

And do not let Your legacy—Your covenant people—

Be taunted and mocked by the nations,

who ask, “Where is their God?”

18 But wait—the Eternal One has become possessive of His land;

He will restore us in compassion, His people!

19 In response to our prayers, the Eternal will answer:

Eternal One: Listen! I am sending you a great harvest of grain, wine, and oil.

You will be completely satisfied and no longer

Will I make you a people held in contempt by the nations.

20 I will remove My armies who attack from the north far from your borders,

driving them into a parched and lonely desert.

Then I will separate them: the front line to the Dead Sea,

the rear guard into the Mediterranean Sea

with the vile stench of their rotting corpses rising up.

Surely the Eternal One has done great things!

21 Do not fear, O land. You have been revived.

Celebrate and rejoice, for the Eternal One has done great things!

22 Do not fear, you wild beasts: You will eat again,

for the desert pastures are green again!

And so will we: the trees bear their fruit;

the fig trees and the vines produce their bounty once again.

23 People of Zion, shout with joy

and happiness in the Eternal, your God;

The drought is over; He has sent the early autumn rain as a sign of His faithfulness.

He has poured down heavy rain, autumn and spring, as before.

24 The threshing floors will be covered in grain;

the vats will spill over with new wine and fresh oil.

25 Eternal One: I will compensate you for the years

that the locusts have eaten—the swarming locusts,

The creeping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts—[a]

My great army that I unleashed against you.

26 In that day, you will eat plenty of food and always have enough,

so you will praise My name,

The Eternal One, your God who is merciful to you.

Never again will My people be shamed among the nations.

27 Return to Me and you will know that I live among My people Israel

and that I, the Eternal One, am your God and there is no other.

Never again will My people be shamed among the nations.

28 Then in those days I will pour My Spirit to all humanity;

your children will boldly and prophetically speak the word of God.

Your elders will dream dreams;

your young warriors will see visions.

29 No one will be left out. In those days I will offer My spirit

to all servants, both male and female.

30 In the heaven above and on the earth below,

I will give signs of My intervention: blood, fire, and clouds of smoke.

31 The sun will become a void of darkness, and the moon will become blood

just before the great and dreadful day of the Eternal One arrives.

Was the day of the Eternal One wonderful to long for or horrific to dread? For Joel, it is both. Each of the five times this day is mentioned, he expresses a different expectation. In Joel 1:15 the prophet signals distressing locust invasions, in Joel 2:1 the day is filled with human invaders against Jerusalem, and in Joel 2:11 it is a stunning event. But in Joel 2:31 the outlook begins to change. Not only is the earth transformed with the heavenly rains and Spirit of God, but also the celestial bodies cease to carry out their functions of giving light and setting seasons for the earth. Both in verse 31 and in Joel 3:14, the day of the Eternal is positive for Israel but ominous for all other nations. Now the tables have been turned, and Zion is not a mountain devoured by locusts and human armies. It is a wonderful garden where the Eternal One meets constantly with His people, surrounded by abundant and perennial agriculture.

32 Then everyone who calls on the name of the Eternal One will be liberated.[b]

Mount Zion and Jerusalem will shelter those who survive exile,

Just as the Eternal says, “Among those who survived, He will call them.”

Proverbs 27 : 5

"Open rebuke is better than secret love."

1 Timothy 5:20

"Them that sin, rebuke before all, that others may also fear."

James 5:20

" Let him know, that he which converts the sinner from error of

his way , shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins."

In Nehemiah 13:25, Nehemiah cursed, struck and pulled out the hair of the

Jews who rebelled by having pagan wives. There were other incidences

where he forced people to stop lending money at interest, (Nehemiah 5:10-13)

and threatened people for breaking the Sabbath (Nehemiah 13:19-21).

Nehemiah forced people to do the right thing. Jesus Also overturned

the tables of the moneychangers in the temple (Matthew 21:12-13).

These examples sound like radical, but that's how they did it in their times

when they rebuke people , even Jesus did it . There's no molly cuddling

with sin, like what many Christians do today. I'm no exception to sinning,

I am just cleansed through repentance and has regenerated and have

awareness of sin. The reason I always pray to the Lord to judge me heart

as it may be hibernating some little ugly sins I didn't realized they are there.

That we should always be on guard.

Here's from Ezekiel , If we don't warn someone in error to turn from evil,

we are partly responsible . This came as a shock to me !

Ezekiel 33:8

When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die;

if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked

man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand."

Ouch, this is even more worrying , as the Lord will ask us ....

Will you be able to reason out with the Lord ?

So should we keep quiet and zip up our mouths shut when one stands up and

ridicules us and our God Almighty , we have to hide and shut up in the name of

of PEACE ?

Or found our love ones doing what he/ she should not be doing is a blow.

Can we let go of the moment , never talk about it at all , don't like to hurt our love one,

and letting them go and continue to sin ?

It's can be very difficult . But we are given the command to rebuke .

No wonder WITCHCRAFT for instance is proliferating in this day

and age because many christians / churches like the cocoon of comfort of peace

and is ready to run away from significant issues regarding the threat to

the faith rather than to confront and make an official

stand against sin and judge lovingly in the open by

the word of God .

This might be easy said than done, but our strength is the Lord.

Pray before you do the rebuking and take the Spirit of God in control

of everything .

"I would tell you about the things they put me through

The pain I've been subjected to

But the Lord himself would blush

The countless feasts laid at my feet

Forbidden fruits for me to eat

But I think your pulse would start to rush

Now I'm not looking for absolution

Forgiveness for the things I do

But before you come to any conclusions

Try walking in my shoes

Try walking in my shoes

You'll stumble in my footsteps

Keep the same appointments I kept

If you try walking in my shoes

If you try walking in my shoes

Morality would frown upon

Decency look down upon

The scapegoat fate's made of me

But I promise now, my judge and jurors

My intentions couldn't have been purer

My case is easy to see

I'm not looking for a clearer conscience

Peace of mind after what I've been through

And before we talk of any repentance

Try walking in my shoes

Try walking in my shoes

You'll stumble in my footsteps

Keep the same appointments I kept

If you try walking in my shoes

If you try walking in my shoes

Try walking in my shoes

Now I'm not looking for absolution

Forgiveness for the things I do

But before you come to any conclusions

Try walking in my shoes

Try walking in my shoes

You'll stumble in my footsteps

Keep the same appointments I kept

If you try walking in my shoes

You'll stumble in my footsteps

Keep the same appointments I kept

If you try walking in my shoes

Try walking in my shoes

If you try walking in my shoes

Try walking in my shoes"...

Alam ya‘lamū anna’l-lāha huwa yaqbalu’ttawbata ‘an ‘ibādih

Do they not know that it is Allah who accepts repentance of His servants?

(Sūratut Tawba, No.9, Āyat 104)

Almighty Allah asks a question to human beings in this verse. Do they not know that it is He alone who accepts the repentance of His creatures? They do not need to go to anyone else. This verse is an encouragement to turn back to Allah ‘azza wa-jall after being away from Him because of disobedience, negligence, and distractions

When you find 'thorns' in your path!

(James Smith, "Daily Bible Readings for the Lord's Household")

"I will hedge up your way with thorns!" Hosea 2:6

These words are spoken to the backslider; they flow from God's love, and indicate painful opposition in the path of spiritual declension. It is a fearful thing to be allowed to choose, and pursue our own way — without divine obstruction!

But if God loves us — He will oppose us, when we are found in forbidden paths!

He will lay the 'thorns' in our way!

He will wound us — in order to restore us!

The wounded child will go home for healing — for the sense of pain and danger will humble its proud and haughty spirit.

Beloved, when you find 'thorns' in your path, just stop and ask,

"Am I in the right road?

Is this the true pilgrim's path?

Does this way lead to my Father's house?"

For the 'thorns' are intended to . . .

awaken inquiry,

produce reflection, and

bring to repentance.

We often see and feel the thorns — but we do not see the hand that laid them in our path. Perhaps we do not dream that it is our heavenly Father — but are ready to say, "An enemy has done this!"

These thorns are . . .

sometimes bodily afflictions,

sometimes losses and crosses, and

sometimes opposition from worldly men.

But whatever may be the nature of the thorns — our Father Himself laid them in our path!

"I will hedge up your way with thorns!" Hosea 2:6

The Fifth Evocation - Russian Times of Repentance by Daniel Arrhakis (2022)

The Prophecies of Ion are previews or reflections on the evolution of our times and in a creative way point to hypothetical futures of humanity.

Although they have a creative and artistic character, more than messianic predictions, they promote an analysis and discussion about our society and about several hypothetical futures that will always depend on the choices we make.

The fifth evocation is just one of the consequences of The Fourth Ion Prophecy - The Fall Of Ivan.

The next text to which I designate "The Fifth Evocation" must be seen in this context.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine was not foreseen in most astral and mystical predictions, although there was the possibility of a major conflict in the near future.

This sudden invasion has set in motion a series of events that have interfered with space/time lines in a way that could endanger all of humanity in the near future.

On the other hand, the City of Odessa is also at a confluence of hypothetical intersecting events that could trigger the Third World War.

If the war in Ukraine does not end soon, there could be several dramatic events in the world but especially in Russia...

Various celestial events point to a deadline... October 13, 2022... from this date... anything can happen...

The Fifth Evocation - Russian Times of Repentance

"And from Siberia the winds will rise through many and rigorous winters with the strength of those who were killed without mercy and their lamentations will enter through the cracks of the houses and temples of those who were indifferent to them.

And the black frosts will freeze the fields and the hearts of those who chose to turn a blind eye to injustices as well as those who supported a brutal and senseless war.

Years of drought and extreme Summer heat will set fire to forests and wheat fields as if they were turned aimlessly, and not even the temples of faith will be safe.

And the mists will cover the silences of death with shame and frighten the nights of those who took up arms against defenseless innocents.

In the end, the ancient plagues will be unearthed like cursed herds that roam across hills and valleys so the Times of Repentance will no longer be forgotten.

And in the end, cursed be those who brought about war, famine, and death, as well as those who plundered and destroyed so many defenseless cities.

And when the Serpent reigns in the night skies, may the revolt leave no stone unturned, so that the fiery horses may lead the damned tsar forever straight to hell. "

And may the echo of memories never erase the heinous crimes that the Czar's armies carried out in the lands of bread and sunflowers.

Peace to Ukraine and Glory forever, may the memory of those who died in the struggle for freedom be forgotten no more!

The building of the magnificent Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God) is the first thing that opens before travelers when looking at the Batumi panorama. This cathedral has a rather tragic history, since it was reconstructed very often during the Soviet period and was operated sometimes ignoring its important religious and historical significance.

The cathedral was built 1898-1903. It is sometimes mistakenly included with an Orthodox church and almost nobody remembers that initially it was built as a Roman Catholic Church. When Adjaria was annexed by the Russian Empire a flood of foreign citizens, among whom there were representatives of different nationalities many of which professed Catholicism, rushed to Batumi. Since there were no catholic temples in Batumi in the XIX century, then the representatives of this religion applied to the authorities with a request to build a church there.

The temple was built on the donation of the believers themselves but one of the main investors was the rich petroleum producer Stefan Zubalashvili. Thanks to his efforts the construction of the temple was completed in 1902 and in 1903 it was consecrated.

After the revolution when Georgia became a part of the Soviet Union, the temple was confiscated by the government and used for various administrative and economic needs. The Georgian community and believers were fighting for a long time to have the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary back. The great Georgian writer Konstantin Gamsakhurdia supported the initiative and the famous film director Tengiz Abuladze mentioned this situation in his film “Repentance” which fact added a nation-wide importance to this problem.

The Georgian intelligentsia and community managed to achieve the restoration work in the temple to begin and also the temple to be returned to the Orthodox Church. On 16 May 1989 the Batumi Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary was consecrated by Elijah II, the Catholicos-Patriarch of all Georgia. A festive baptism took place in the course of which 5000 people were baptized. The Batumi Church was given a status of Cathedral church.

The Batumi cathedral church is one of the most beautiful ones in Georgia, built in the Gothic style. From both of the sides of the main entrance there stand statutes of apostles. Today the debates are under way whom these statutes belonged to: St Andrew the Apostle and Simon the Cananaean or St. Maria and Joseph. A unique characteristic of the temple is its large stained glass windows which can compete in beauty with the best example of French gothic architecture.

Wikileaks vs the Pentagon: Phony Fingerpointing

Tom Engelhardt:: Who Really Has Blood On Their Hands?

"Consider the following statement offered by Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at a news conference last week. He was discussing Julian Assange, the founder of Wikileaks as well as the person who has taken responsibility for the vast, still ongoing Afghan War document dump at that site. "Mr. Assange,” Mullen commented, “can say whatever he likes about the greater good he thinks he and his source are doing, but the truth is they might already have on their hands the blood of some young soldier or that of an Afghan family.”

Now, if you were the proverbial fair-minded visitor from Mars (who in school civics texts of my childhood always seemed to land on Main Street, U.S.A., to survey the wonders of our American system), you might be a bit taken aback by Mullen’s statement. After all, one of the revelations in the trove of leaked documents Assange put online had to do with how much blood from innocent Afghan civilians was already on American hands.

The British Guardian was one of three publications given early access to the leaked archive, and it began its main article this way: “A huge cache of secret U.S. military files today provides a devastating portrait of the failing war in Afghanistan, revealing how coalition forces have killed hundreds of civilians in unreported incidents. They range from the shootings of individual innocents to the often massive loss of life from air strikes...” Or as the paper added in a piece headlined “Secret CIA paramilitaries’ role in civilian deaths”: “Behind the military jargon, the war logs are littered with accounts of civilian tragedies.

The 144 entries in the logs recording some of these so-called ‘blue on white’ events, cover a wide spectrum of day-by-day assaults on Afghans, with hundreds of casualties.” Or as it also reported, when exploring documents related to Task Force 373, an “undisclosed ‘black’ unit” of U.S. special operations forces focused on assassinating Taliban and al-Qaeda “senior officials”: “The logs reveal that TF 373 has also killed civilian men, women, and children and even Afghan police officers who have strayed into its path.”

Admittedly, the events recorded in the Wikileaks archive took place between 2004 and the end of 2009, and so don’t cover the last six months of the Obama administration’s across-the-board surge in Afghanistan. Then again, Admiral Mullen became chairman of the Joint Chiefs in October 2007, and so has been at the helm of the American war machine for more than two of the years in question.

He was, for example, chairman in July 2008, when an American plane or planes took out an Afghan bridal party -- 70 to 90 strong and made up mostly of women -- on a road near the Pakistani border. They were "escorting the bride to meet her groom as local tradition dictates." The bride, whose name we don’t know, died, as did at least 27 other members of the party, including children. Mullen was similarly chairman in August 2008 when a memorial service for a tribal leader in the village of Azizabad in Afghanistan’s Herat Province was hit by repeated U.S. air strikes that killed at least 90 civilians, including perhaps 15 women and up to 60 children. Among the dead were 76 members of one extended family, headed by Reza Khan, a "wealthy businessman with construction and security contracts with the nearby American base at Shindand airport."

Mullen was still chairman in April 2009 when members of the family of Awal Khan, an Afghan army artillery commander on duty elsewhere, were killed in a U.S.-led raid in Khost province in eastern Afghanistan. Among them were his "schoolteacher wife, a 17-year-old daughter named Nadia, a 15-year-old son, Aimal, and his brother, employed by a government department.” Another daughter was wounded and the pregnant wife of Khan's cousin was shot five times in the abdomen.

Mullen remained chairman when, in November 2009, two relatives of Majidullah Qarar, the spokesman for the Minister of Agriculture, were shot down in cold blood in Ghazni City in a Special Operations night raid; as he was -- and here we move beyond the Wikileaks time frame -- when, in February 2010, U.S. Special Forces troops in helicopters struck a convoy of mini-buses, killing up to 27 civilians, including women and children; as he also was when, in that same month, in a special operations night raid, two pregnant women and a teenage girl, as well as a police officer and his brother, were shot to death in their home in a village near Gardez, the capital of Paktia province. After which, the soldiers reportedly dug the bullets out of the bodies, washed the wounds with alcohol, and tried to cover the incident up. He was no less chairman late last month when residents of a small town in Helmand province in southern Afghanistan claimed that a NATO missile attack had killed 52 civilians, an incident that, like just about every other one mentioned above and so many more, was initially denied by U.S. and NATO spokespeople and is now being “investigated.” "

"What is interesting is who is responsible for the killings.

Of the 1,325 civilian deaths recorded by the Afghan human rights group, 23 per cent were attributed to Nato or Afghan government forces. The Taliban and their allies were responsible for 68 per cent of the deaths.

The UN study claimed the civilian death toll was slightly lower at 1,271 with anti-government forces blamed for 76 per cent of the casualties.

Chronicling precise figures is extremely difficult because most parts of the country are inaccessible.

Crucially, both studies suggested that the proportion of deaths attributed to Nato and Afghan government forces were down compared to last year because of fewer air strikes.

This is important because clumsy air strikes on innocent villages and unfair raids on their houses has been driving a lot of Afghans to pick up arms on behalf of insurgents."

I am skeptical about agendas.. It can be confusing, this is why for better or worse one must have THE FACTS - it would have been better if we had them from the START.

• International military forces should make more transparent their investigation and reporting on civilian casualties including on accountability; maintain and strengthen directives restricting aerial attacks and the use of night raids; coordinate investigation and reporting of civilian casualties with the Afghan Government to improve protection and accountability; improve compensation processes; and, improve transparency around any harm to civilians caused by Special Forces operations.

• The Afghan Government should create a public body to lead its response to major civilian casualty incidents and its interaction with international military forces and other key actors, ensure investigations include forensic components, ensure transparent and timely compensation to victims; and, improve accountability including discipline or prosecution for any Afghan National Security Forces personnel who unlawfully cause death or injury to civilians or otherwise violate the rights of Afghan citizens."

"Afghan War Diary

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Afghan War Diary (also called The War Logs) is a collection of internal U.S. military logs of the War in Afghanistan published by Wikileaks on 25 July 2010.

The logs consist of 91,731 documents, covering the period between January 2004 and December 2009. Most of the documents were classified as "secret", which The New York Times called "a relatively low level of classification".

As of 28 July 2010, only 75,000 of the documents have been released to the public, a move which Wikileaks says is "part of a harm minimization process demanded by [the] source". Prior to releasing the initial 75,000 documents, Wikileaks made the logs available to The Guardian, The New York Times and Der Spiegel in its German and English on-line edition which published reports per previous agreement on that same day, July 25, 2010."

&

"In June 2010, Guardian journalist Nick Davies and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange established that the US army had built a huge database with six years of sensitive military intelligence material, to which many thousands of US soldiers had access and some of them had been able to download copies, and WikiLeaks had one copy which it proposed to publish online, via a series of uncensorable global servers.

Wikileaks describes itself as "a multi-jurisdictional public service designed to protect whistleblowers, journalists and activists who have sensitive materials to communicate to the public."

In an interview with the U.K.'s Channel 4, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange said that "we have a stated commitment to a particular kind of process and objective, and that commitment is to get censored material out and never to take it down." He contrasted the group with other media outlets by saying that "other journalists try to verify sources. We don't do that, we verify documents. We don't care where it came from." He denied that the group has an inherent bias against the Afghanistan War, saying that "We don't have a view about whether the war should continue or stop – we do have a view that it should be prosecuted as humanely as possible." However, he also said that he believes the leaked information will turn world public opinion to think more negatively of the war."

"War has become a luxury that only small nations can afford." -

Hannah Arendt

"The leak of tens of thousands of Afghanistan war-related documents tells us more than the sum total of many official communiqués about the war. On balance, more disclosure is a good thing, but the leaking of raw military intelligence is a special case that requires a careful, rather than a cavalier, approach.

There is not enough information about the war, and much official information is misleading. In Canada, the federal government's quarterly reports contain a few updates based on its goals in Kandahar, but little else that informs. The government has already shown itself to be an unreliable source on issues relating to Afghan detainees.

The situation is now too dangerous for the most trustworthy chroniclers – journalists, UN personnel – to go outside NATO-protected areas.

So reliable, independent information is lacking. The circumstances in this war make such information even more necessary."

"Instead, many eyes will now pore over this data from many different directions, looking for patterns and attempting to eliminate the noise, disinformation and fog of war.

Many will look to it to criticise and condemn the US presence in Afghanistan, but if those on the other side – those who support such military incursions – have any sense, they too will use it to understand better the war in which they find themselves and adapt their counsel to fit more accurately the facts on the ground.

That’s the benefit, usually, of an open society. We get to triangulate on the truth by gathering facts in the public space, then providing them to all sides to chew over. We use this against our own illusions and those of more closed societies who can only view the world through one narrow perspective.": www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/finance/2010/0730/1224275801...

"The first phase was chilling, in part because the banter of the soldiers was so far beyond the boundaries of civilian discourse. “Just fuckin’, once you get on ’em, just open ’em up,” one of them said. The crew members of the Apache came upon about a dozen men ambling down a street, a block or so from American troops, and reported that five or six of the men were armed with AK-47s; as the Apache maneuvered into position to fire at them, the crew saw one of the Reuters journalists, who were mixed in among the other men, and mistook a long-lensed camera for an RPG. The Apaches fired on the men for twenty-five seconds, killing nearly all of them instantly."

"This is duplicitous only if you close your eyes to the Pakistani reality, which the Americans never did. There was ample evidence, as the WikiLeaks show, of covert ISI ties to the Taliban. The Americans knew they couldn't break those ties. They settled for what support Pakistan could give them while constantly pressing them harder and harder until genuine fears in Washington emerged that Pakistan could destabilize altogether. Since a stable Pakistan is more important to the United States than a victory in Afghanistan—which it wasn't going to get anyway—the United States released pressure and increased aid. If Pakistan collapsed, then India would be the sole regional power, not something the United States wants."

"One surprising consequence of the war in Iraq is the surrender of postmodernism to a victorious modernism. This has been largely overlooked in North America.

In reaction to the U.S. intervention in Iraq, Jacques Derrida, a famous postmodernist, signed on as co-author of an article drafted by the German philosopher Jürgen Habermas, previously an opponent of his, in an unmistakable endorsement of modernist Enlightenment principles. Derrida, the apostle of deconstructionism, is now advocating some decidedly constructive and Eurocentric activism.

The article appeared simultaneously in two newspapers on May 31, in German in Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung as "After the War: The Rebirth of Europe," and in French in Libération, less triumphantly, as "A Plea for a Common Foreign Policy: The demonstrations of Feb. 15 against the war in Iraq designed a new European public space."

Other famous intellectuals joined in with supportive newspaper articles of their own: Umberto Eco (of The Name of the Rose) and Gianni Vattimo in Italy and an American philosopher, Richard Rorty. This provoked much discussion in Europe, but only a few comments so far in North America, the Boston Globe and the Village Voice being rare exceptions.

This week in Montreal, there was an anti-globalization riot in which windows were broken in protest against a World Trade Organization (WTO) meeting. But the Habermas-Derrida declaration praises the WTO and even the International Monetary Fund as part of Weltinnenpolitik: maddeningly hard to translate, but something like "global domestic policy" or "external internal policy."

Yet it is not much of a stretch to claim the young anti-globalists as disciples of postmodernism and Derrida, who has hitherto been a foe of "logocentrism" (putting reason at the centre), "phallologocentrism" (reason is an erect male organ and, as such, damnably central) and Eurocentrism (the old, old West is the homeland of all of the above).

Derrida added a note to the article, observing most people would recognize Habermas's style and thinking in the piece, and that he hadn't had time to write a separate piece. But notwithstanding his "past confrontations" with Habermas (Derrida had objected to being called a "Judaistic mystic," for one thing), he agreed with the article he had signed, which calls for new European responsibilities "beyond all Eurocentrism" and the strengthening of international law and international institutions."

"In early 2003, both Habermas and Derrida were very active in opposing the coming Iraq War, and called for in a manifesto that later became the book Old Europe, New Europe, Core Europe for a tighter union of the states of the European Union in order to provide a power capable of opposing American foreign policy. Derrida wrote a foreword expressing his unqualified subscription to Habermas's declaration of February 2003, "February 15, or, What Binds Europeans Together: Plea for a Common Foreign Policy, Beginning in Core Europe,” in Old Europe, New Europe, Core Europe which was a reaction to the Bush administration demands upon European nations for support for the coming Iraq War[25]. Habermas has offered further context for this declaration in an interview."

Habermas: ”The asymmetry between the concentrated destructive power of the electronically controlled clusters of elegant and versatile missiles in the air and the archaic ferocity of the swarms of bearded warriors outfitted with Kalashnikovs on the ground remains a morally obscene sight

I consider Bush' s decision to call for a "war against terrorism" a serious mistake, both normatively and pragmatically. Normatively, he is elevating these criminals to the status of war enemies; and pragmatically, one cannot lead a war against a "network" if the term "war" is to retain any definite meaning.”

Derrida: “To say it all too quickly and in passing, to amplify and clarify just a bit what I said earlier about an absolute threat whose origin is anonymous and not related to any state, such "terrorist" attacks already no longer need planes, bombs, or kamikazes: it is enough to infiltrate a strategically important computer system and introduce a virus or some other disruptive element to paralyze the economic, military, and political resources of an entire country or continent. And this can be attempted from just about anywhere on earth, at very little expense and with minimal means. The relationship between earth, terra territory, and terror has changed, and it is necessary to know that this is because of knowledge, that is, because of technoscience.

It is technoscience that blurs the distinction between war and terrorism. In this regard, when compared to the possibilities for destruction and chaotic disorder that are in reserve, for the future, in the computerized networks of the world, "September 11" is still part of the archaic theater of violence aimed at striking the imagination. One will be able to do even worse tomorrow, invisibly, in silence, more quickly and without any bloodshed, by attacking the computer and informational networks on which the entire life (social, economic, military, and so on) of a "great nation," of the greatest power on earth, depends.”

Lou Reed The Blue Mask

Lyrics:

They tied his arms behind

his back to teach him how to

swim They put

blood in his coffee and milk

in his gin They stood over the

soldier in

the midst of the squalor

There was war in his body and

it caused his

brain to holler

Make the sacrifice

mutilate my face

If you need someone to kill

I'm a man without a will

Wash the razor in the rain

Let me luxuriate in pain

Please don't set me free

Death means a lot to me

The pain was lean and it made

him scream he knew he was alive

They put a

pin through the nipples on his chest

He thought he was a saint

I've made love to my mother,

killed my father and my brother

What am I

to do

When a sin goes too far, it's

like a runaway car It cannot

be controlled

Spit upon his face and scream

There's no Oedipus today

This is no play you're thinking you

are in What will you say

Take the blue mask down from my face and

look me in the eye I get a

thrill from punishment

I've always been that way

I loathe and despise repentance

You are permanently stained

Your weakness buys indifference

and indiscretion in the streets

Dirty's what you are and clean is what

you're not You deserve to be

soundly beat

Make the sacrifice

Take it all the way

There's no won't high enough

To stop this desperate day

Don't take death away

Cut the finger at the joint

Cut the stallion at his mount

And stuff it in his mouth

---

"He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder. "

Peace.

John Dudley, 1st Duke of Northumberland (1502? – 22 August 1553) was a Tudor general, admiral and politician, who de facto ruled England in the latter half of King Edward VI's reign. At Edward's death, his attempt to displace Edward's sister and heir Mary with his own daughter-in-law, Lady Jane Grey, failed, resulting in his being sentenced and put to death for high treason.

John Dudley was born as the first son of Edmund Dudley and Elizabeth Grey, Baroness Lisle, a descendant of Richard de Beauchamp, 13th Earl of Warwick. His grandfather was a Knight of the Garter and Steward to King Henry V. His younger brothers were called Jerome, Oliver, William and Andrew.

When his father was attainted and executed in 1510, Edward Guilford — a partner in many of Edmund's "profitable outrages" — became guardian of the nine-year old John and one of his younger brothers (possibly Andrew, who was later made Admiral of the North Sea). The boys were then taken into the home of Richard Guilford. Within two years, in 1512, Guilford was able to persuade King Henry VIII to repeal Edmund's attainder.

In order to prosper under his new-found liberty, Dudley married Edward's daughter Jane in 1520. He took part as Guilford's lieutenant in the campaign of 1523 in France under the king's brother-in-law, Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk and won a knighthood on the field for gallantry after his valour at the crossing of the Somme. He was soon to gain prominence in the tournaments of the royal court and as a protégé of Thomas Cardinal Wolsey, and so joined the group whose task it was to amuse the king. In 1527, and again in 1532, he accompanied Wolsey to France.

About the time of the birth of his fifth son Robert in 1532/1533, Dudley was appointed Master of the Armoury in the Tower of London. To it he brought the reputation of being the ablest commander both by land and sea that had then been of service to the Tudors. This helped rehabilitate the name of Dudley. At the coronation of Anne Boleyn in 1533 he was invited to be a cup-bearer, and he would lead the procession at the christening of the Princess Elizabeth.

When Edward Guilford died in 1534 without male issue or a written will, the Guilford estate was disputed between Dudley (on behalf of his wife) and Guilford's nephew John. Dudley claimed the manor of Halden, and other lands in Kent and Sussex, despite John Guilford's assertion that his uncle had intended him to inherit. Five years later Dudley sold the manor with others to Thomas Cromwell, whose protégé he became after Cardinal Wolsey's fall.

From 1536 he appears to have encountered some difficulties that led him to part with much of his inheritance in favour of the Midlands estate of his cousin, John Sutton, 3rd Lord Dudley; he exchanged his reversionary interest in the lands left to him by his mother to Sir Richard for life. He then made extensive purchases, especially in Staffordshire and the Welsh marches. In addition, he was given several manors by the King, including the extensive estates of Halesowen Abbey on the Dissolution of the Monasteries, so that his land base shifted to the central and west Midlands. He was elected sheriff of Staffordshire in 1536 after helping to put down the Pilgrimage of Grace.

In 1537 Dudley was sent on a mission to Spain and also began the connection with the Admiralty which, with his military commands from 1542, was to bring him to the fore during the closing years of Henry's reign. In January 1542 he resumed his seat in the Commons as one of the knights for Staffordshire, and upon his stepfather's death was created Viscount Lisle (derived from his mother) and made Lord Admiral for life, entering the Lords the following day to sit in regular attendance for the rest of the session.

Exercising his new prerogative, Dudley dispatched the French from the English Channel and stormed Boulogne-sur-Mer, for which he was to become a Knight of the Garter and was on the 23 April 1543, admitted as a member of the Privy Council. As Lord Admiral he directed the naval operations of the next two years and his presence at the third session of that Parliament was respectively shortened. To his other duties there was added in late 1544 the governorship of Boulogne. Also in 1544 he accompanied his future rival, Edward Seymour, Earl of Hertford to the capture and burning of Edinburgh. A large English force, supported by a naval fleet, under Hertford's command, invaded the east coast of Scotland, sacking Leith and Dunbar and capturing Edinburgh.

After attending the first session of the Parliament of 1545 Dudley was to direct the operations of the fleet in the Battle of the Solent which frustrated the French attack on Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight. He went with the embassy to Paris to ratify and conclude the peace in 1546. On his return Dudley was absent from Council meetings on the grounds of ill-health, although the imperial ambassador ascribed his retirement to a difference of opinion with Bishop Stephen Gardiner, whom he had assaulted in the Council. He returned before the King died, and was in attendance at the final session of Parliament. By 1547, the year of the King’s death, he was Lieutenant General of all His Majesty's armed forces.

Dudley was among the sixteen members of the Regency Council, Henry had appointed to govern the kingdom during Edward's minority. The new King's uncle, Edward Seymour, Duke of Somerset, was elected Lord Protector just before the coronation. That year Dudley sought and was duly granted the right to bear the arms of the Earls of Warwick, with the distinctive badge of the Bear and the Ragged Staff.

By the end of 1549 most councillors, including Thomas Cranmer, the Earl of Arundel, William Paulet, and William Cecil, were turned against Somerset and united behind Dudley, the man with the ambition, will and determination to oust the Protector. Dudley lead the palace rebellion against Somerset in 1549, leading to Somerset's imprisonment and eventual execution in 1552.

Unlike Somerset, whom he had outmanoeuvered, Dudley did not take the title of Lord Protector, and encouraged Edward VI to proclaim his majority. Nonetheless, Dudley effectively ruled the country by holding the two offices of Lord President of the Council and of Great Steward of the King's Household. Dudley was given the title of Duke of Northumberland in 1551.

Dudley obtained such an influence over Edward that the King was ready to make it appear that Dudley's ideas were actually his own. Whether or not it was justified, Dudley acquired a bad reputation, becoming known as a "tyrant", sometimes referred to as the merciless "bear of Warwick". Despite the differing opinion of his character, some[who?] argue in Dudley's favour that he consulted the Privy Council regularly, did not make any executive decisions, and did not use the title 'Lord Protector' that Somerset had done. Dudley also began the political education of the young Edward VI.

Already in 1549, Dudley achieved his great political victory over the Norfolk rebels in their efforts to remove the enclosure system. He was popularised, not only for his skill and courage, but for his mercy towards the prisoners. When his small troop was faced with destruction and outnumbered, he drew his sword, kissed the blade and spoke of death before dishonour. When the conflict was over, he responded to his officers' protests for revenge with: "Is there no place for pardon?" He asked "What shall we then do? Shall we hold the plough ourselves, play the carters and labour the ground with our own hands?"

In order to compensate for the economic legacy of the Duke of Somerset, Dudley ceased debasement of the coinage, although, poorly advised by economists, he did take that action one last time. Using melted church plate, the coins were revalued in 1551 and began to slow down the rapid inflation that had been ravaging the country. However, Dudley's tendency towards profiteering - allowing himself and other Privy Councillors to enrich themselves at the expense of the state when it was nearing bankruptcy - has been criticised, although there are few that believe such profiteering was required in order to ensure Councillors' support.

Vagrancy, enclosure, evictions, poverty and rising crime were all very immediate problems facing Dudley's regency. This was exacerbated by poor harvest and subsequent lack of food.

One of Dudley's first actions after Somerset's fall was to end the wars with France and Scotland that Somerset had initiated . He surrendered the besieged town of Boulogne which, whilst weakening the English position in France, gained £200,000 for the struggling economy, liberated England from a financially burdensome territory and resulted in a defensive alliance between France and England with the Treaty of Boulogne. He also withdrew the English garrisons from Scotland.

When King Edward was dying, he signed a document which barred both his sisters, Mary I and Elizabeth, the remaining children of King Henry VIII, from the throne in favour of Lady Jane Grey (who had married Dudley's youngest son Guilford only six weeks previously). The extent to which Dudley influenced the document is uncertain,[1] but he countersigned the King's decree.

The decision to name Lady Jane Grey as an heir was based on the lack of 'heirs male' from other royals and noble families with royal connections. The motivation to exclude the previous heir-presumptive, Mary, stemmed from a desire to prevent a Catholic succession.

Before Edward's death had been made public, the Council summoned Mary back to London, but she (informed and warned by the Earl of Arundel) refused and instead demanded to be recognised as Queen. Dudley was at his country residence having complained of illness and in his absence the council wavered. Mary, having gathered much support from the nobles and gentry of East Anglia, which soon spread into other counties, marched into London with no opposition at the head of an immense throng. This outpouring of support for Mary was due to a general dislike of Dudley, popular anger over the previous Protestant regime and over its mistreatment of Mary and genuine respect for Mary's legitimacy. The people - even many Protestants - preferred a legitimate heir over a Protestant usurper.

Dudley was forced to surrender to Mary and was arrested. He was put on trial in 1553 and was sentenced to death for high treason. In his parting words he announced to the stunned observers his repentance and return to Catholicism - and encouraged them all to do likewise. Though five of his sons were imprisoned along with him, they were freed after eighteen months, except for the youngest, Guilford, who was executed.

2 Corinthians 7:10 NIV

Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation

and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.

1667 (Kanbun 7): After fire destroyed the main temple structure, work on rebuilding Nigatsu-dō (二月堂) at Nara commenced.

Re-construction of Nigatsu-do is completed in 1669. In 1944, it was chosen by Japan as one of the most important cultural aspects of the country.

Although the hall was saved from civil wars in 1180 and 1567 in which the Great Buddha Hall was lost, it was burnt down during the Shuni-e service of 1667. The hall was rebuilt two years later.

The current main hall of Nigatsu-dō is a designated National Treasure. The hall holds two Kannons, a large one and a small one, although both of them are classified as Hibutsu (秘仏) – "secret Buddhas" – and therefore are not publicly shown.

I'm strongly convicted we are in the Breaking of the 2nd Seal which is the Revelation 6: 3 - 4 where Peace on Earth will be taken away or now on the path of no return leading to mass destruction. The 3rd seal will be great Famine on earth and surely we can understand why. Billions will be annihilated as in prophecy in a short space of time. So prepare your hearts and minds of what is to come.

The door of SALVATION in Jesus of Nazareth is still open. Accept Him, we should come to repentance daily, be right with Him. He is the coming King of Kings on new Kingdom on earth renewed. It's not heaven yet after all these things, it'll be new government under Yahusha who will lead with an iron rod spoken in Revelation 2: 25- 29

"25 But hold fast what you have till I come. 26 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations—

27 ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron;

They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’—

as I also have received from My Father; 28 and I will give him the morning star.

29 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’

Don't fear of these things come to pass, rather be excited as the King of Kings coming is very close. Don't fear death, as death of a believer is victory! ( Philippians 1:21)

Nigatsu-dō (二月堂, "The Hall of the Second Month") is one of the important structures of Tōdai-ji, a temple in Nara, Japan. Nigatsu-dō is located to the east of the Great Buddha Hall, on the hillside of Mount Wakakusa. It includes several other buildings in addition to the specific hall named Nigatsu-dō, thus comprising its own sub-complex within Tōdai-ji.

Nigatsu-dō was founded by a monk by the name of Sanetada in 752, but the Buddhist monk Jitchu, a pupil of Rōben, later introduced a repentance service dedicated to the image of the eleven-faced Bodhisattva, Kannon in 760. It has taken place as an annual rite since 760 without any break. The service has come to be known as Shuni-e (修二会, lit. Second-Month Service), as it was held in the second month of the traditional lunisolar calendar. At present, it starts on 1 March and ends on the 15th of the month. Omizutori, which means taking sacred water, has become the popular name of the ceremony.

While the first Shuni-e service is said to have been held by Jichu in another temple in 752, the original construction of Nigatsu-dō hall is estimated to have completed only somewhere between 756 and 772. Nigatsu-dō was destroyed in 1667 due to a fire.

The Carnival of Brazil (Portuguese: Carnaval, IPA: [kaʁnaˈvaw]) is an annual festival held during the Friday to the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of Lent, the forty-day period before Easter. On certain days of Lent, Roman Catholics and some other Christians traditionally abstained from the consumption of meat and poultry, hence the term "carnival," from carnelevare, "to remove (literally, "raise") meat." Carnival has roots in the pagan festival of Saturnalia, which, adapted to Catholicism became a farewell to well things in a season of religious discipline to practice repentance and prepare for Christ's death and resurrection. Rhythm, participation, and costumes vary from one region of Brazil to another. In the southeastern cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Vitória, huge organized parades are led by samba schools. Those official parades are meant to be watched by the public, while minor parades ("blocos") allowing public participation can be found in other cities. The northeastern cities of Recife, Olinda, Salvador and Porto Seguro have organized groups parading through streets, and public interacts directly with them. This carnival is also influenced by African-Brazilian culture. It's a six-day party where crowds follow the trios elétricos through the city streets, dancing and singing. Also in northeast, Olinda carnival features unique characteristics, heavily influenced by local folklore and cultural manifestations, such as Frevo and Maracatu.

I'm not currently seeking repentance, thanks for asking.

He was a Greek painter, sculptor and architect, who lived in Italy and Spain. He is among the most important figures of the late Spanish Renaissance and is often considered the first master of the Siglo de Oro.

There are at least six versions of this subject, which depicts the repentance of St. Peter who is troubled by having denied knowing Christ. The saint is movingly isolated, placed against the dark trunk of a tree and illuminated by an ethereal light that emphasizes his expression and wounded posture.

In the background, on the left side, appears Mary Magdalene returning from Christ's tomb. Having received the news of Christ's resurrection from an angel, she runs to tell St. Peter.

031322Homily2ndLent

This is the 2nd Sunday of Lent. In today’s gospel, we read about how Peter, James and John, went from being sleepy… deeply fatigued…to being “fully awake.” These companions of Jesus, were witnessing something startling…the transfiguration. To see what these Apostles saw, how could they not be awakened and transformed.

What I want to focus on is becoming “fully awake.” When we step into this state of being “fully awake” in our relationship with God; we may not be transfigured, but we are transformed. Synonyms of this word include words such as metamorphosis, conversion, transformation and makeover.

The “sad beauty” of Lent, is that we are provided with an opportunity to reflect on our lives…how far we are from missing the mark. This self inventory is necessary for each of us go through, but we do not do it alone! We are given this season each year, to become “fully awake.” When we are going through this period of discernment, what are we gauging our progress against?

We have the Light that shines in the darkness…the literal light of Jesus Christ… his life, his words; we call this walking in “the way.” We see HIM walking through his passion. In the Stations of the Cross…we get to meditate on the suffering we see in HIS face…the dragging of HIS cross up the hill where HE will be crushed and crucified for each of us.

This is not a time to inflate our own guilt!

In this period of our formation, it is important to let go of the past…especially if we have gone through processes of repentance. This unnecessary luggage we carry from our past distorts the way we see ourselves and we may become fixed on ourselves in an unhealthy way. It certainly prevents us from being “fully awake” to the forgiving God who journeys with us through the ups and downs in our life.

Our tradition of receiving the sacrament of reconciliation is the most visible way we can know that grace is given to us; to let go of those things that weigh heavy on out heart.

In the 1986, a movie was released called “The Mission.” Robert De Niro, plays a mercenary-Rodrigo Mendoza, a slave trader in the 1750’s. It takes place in Argentina, amongst the Guarani, a tribe inhabiting the Paraguayan jungle. The movie is about how the Jesuits come to convert these people to Christianity. In the movie, Rodrigo kidnaps these indigenous people and sells them into slavery. He makes a good living. He seems to have no conscience, until he kills his brother in a duel whom he caught having an affair with his fiancé. Rodrigo becomes a very broken man. Fr. Gabriel, invites Rodrigo, to journey with him and other Jesuits, up the great falls and into the Jungle to meet and convert the Guarani.

In this journey, Rodrigo begins his penance…he gathers all his weapons and armor and ties them together into a large ball. He drags the ball, rope in hand, all the way up the falls. In one scene, a Jesuit cuts the rope, because he cannot bear to watch Rodrigo slipping and falling in the rain and mud. Fr. Gabriel mention to the Jesuit, that no one can take this burden from him until he is ready to let go. Rodrigo, eventually let’s go of this ball…when a tribe member, with a knife approaches him as though he is going to kill him…but instead cuts the rope…sending the ball of weapons and armor into the river.

This is a extreme example of how we let our past actions haunt us. We must quit grasping this luggage from our past so that we can see clearly in the present and be hopeful for the future. We may find that others remind us of our past. Our Lord calls on us to forgive others as HE has forgiven us.

How many people do we know in our circle of influence that have turned from Christ because they feel unworthy? God has not turned from them, but they have turned from God. They are not experiencing what our Psalm reading said: “The Lord is my light and Salvation; whom should I Fear? The Lord is my Life’s refuge; of whom should I be Afraid?”

Our second reading from Philippians, Paul challenges each one of us to be models of the Christian life for others. This is our challenge! I know that some carry something that clouds us from a deeper relationship with Christ. Let us cast off that which enslaves us…

We will then be “Fully Awake.” We will experience God more intensely which is what Lent is all about.

Introduction

Only the Creator Takes Pity on This Mankind

Only the Creator shares with mankind an unbroken bond of mercy and love.

Only He cherishes all of His creation, all of His creation.

His every thought, always for the good of mankind.

His every emotion is intertwined with their existence.

The expression of what He is and has is all for mankind.

It’s all for the sake of mankind.

Deep within His heart, all of man’s actions He feels.

Man’s transgressions awaken His just wrath and sorrow.

But man’s repentance makes Him forgive, man’s repentance makes Him delight.

He’s rushing around always, He’s everywhere at all times.

His every emotion, He dedicates—every second of His life,

and He’s offering every bit of His life without a word.

It’s all for the sake of mankind.

He knows not how to pity His own life, but cherishes mankind.

With His hands He’s fashioned this miracle of mankind.

Compassion and tolerance He bestows, without condition or thought of reward,

that mankind may live on under His gaze,

that one day, they may submit and grant that He is the One who nourishes man,

and grant that He is the One. Ah ...

He supplies the life of creation, life of all creation, life of all creation.

His every thought, always, for the good of mankind.

His every emotion is intertwined with their existence.

The expression of what He is and has is all for mankind.

It’s all for the sake of mankind. It’s all for the sake of mankind.

Repentance Haiku:

I sorry Grandpa.

I didn't mean to do it.

I couldn't stop it.

I thought it was just

A cup of dirty water,

So I flushed it down the bowl.

It was then I saw

Your teeth swirling down the drain.

I sorry grandpa.

Scrooge weeps over his own grave, begging the spirit for a chance to change his ways, before awakening to find it is Christmas morning. He immediately repents and becomes a model of generosity and kindness: he visits Fred and accepts his earlier invitation to Christmas dinner, gives Bob Cratchit a raise, and becomes like "a second father" to Tiny Tim. As the final narration states, "Some people laughed to see the alteration in him, but he let them laugh, and little heeded them; for he was wise enough to know that nothing ever happened on this globe, for good, at which some people did not have their fill of laughter in the outset; and knowing that such as these would be blind anyway, he thought it quite as well that they should wrinkle up their eyes in grins, as have the malady in less attractive forms. His own heart laughed: and that was quite enough for him...it was always said of him that he knew how to keep Christmas well if any man alive possessed the knowledge."

A galilee is a chapel or porch at the west end of some churches where penitent, those being repentance of sins, waited before admission to the body of the church and where clergy received women who had business with them. Aside from Lincoln remaining galilee also exist in Durham & Ely Cathedrals.
