Edited fabric pattern for Japanese clothes from the de Young Museum in San Francisco. The patterns all repeat in at least one direction. This pattern repeats both horizontally and vertically.

I don't know if this is really abstract or not, but it does have repeating elements. This is the view of Kelly's Slough (a local waterfowl protection area) through the bars of the observation deck.

This photo reminds me of the times I was a kid riding along in my parents car as the windows were rolled down. I'd lay my head on the window and watch the world whiz on by. It all became a beautiful blur and before I knew it we had arrived at our destination. Eventually I found myself wishing we could be back on the road so I could watch everything fly by me and into the past.
Perhaps then I should have known how easily I'd take to the idea of picking up and traveling at a moment of notice. Of course, now that I'm older I also have more responsibilities so simply picking up and going isn't so simple anymore.
Nevertheless, I ache to travel. Always have and I always will. One thing I do not ache to do however is to spend time looking in the past. It's there for a reason and I just hate to dwell on it. It brings me down and it brings me to a place of regret and second guessing. Two things I've tried terribly hard to rid myself of but just always seem to be there. I'm far too hard on myself and no matter what, I fear I always will be.

This is a photo from the "archives" as in, it's a photo I uploaded to Flickr nearly a year ago but never actually made it public. My computer is in for repairs and who knows when I will get it back. One thing I do know is that my hard drive took a nose dive. Yes sir, she went down; fried like an egg. Hopefully I'll have it back today or tomorrow at the latest. Until then, no new photos from me.

Warehouses, Albert Dock, Hull. Humber Bridge on the skyline and, in the middle distance, silhouetted masts of fishing vessels in William Wright Dock – sadly, none of them likely to number a single Hull man among their crews.
Just playing around with some sunshine and those clear decorator glass thing-y's that you put around candles or in glass vases to hide flower stems. My mind can't come up with what you call them, but you know what I mean. Right?
Can it be repetition if their not all the same size? Hope so. LOL!

In August 2012, my mother Diane Thorp wove a 20' non-repeating textile from patterns generated from my Infinite Weft software.
These images show the weaving process, done on a 16-harness dobby floor loom in Diane's studio on Vancouver Island.

Saw this narrow boat at Paddington Basin, took this photo, then a few weeks later it turned up in my hometown (30 miles from London). The South African owners were heading up the canal to explore the UK.

Most days I feel like all I do is repeat myself, telling the girls to go to the toilet, put their shoes on or stop fighting. The other thing constantly repeating in our house as the girls practice for their dancing concert on the weekend, is possibly the most annoying song you'll ever hear - jump jump star by the fairies. Try to avoid ever listening as once the tune gets inside your head it just repeats over & over & over!!!!!!!!
This is looking back towards the entrance to the mail car at the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, GA. I loved the abundance of repeating patterns of squares in the boxes and the metal grid, of lines in the planks of the floor and the shelf, the grid with circles, and all of the angles at the front of the car. Needless to say I spent a good bit of time in this car shooting in the other direction from some of my friends (who shot looking down the car at the canvas mail sorting bags).
