Situada a extramurs de la ciutat, no queda cap vestigi de l'església romànica original de Santa Maria del Pi esmentada al llarg del segle X.
Tot i que no se sap amb certesa la data inicial de construcció del temple actual, sembla ser que començà a la primeria del segle XIV. Un cop enllestida l'estructura de la nau, aquesta fou coberta al llarg de la segona meitat del mateix segle. L'any 1379, Pere el Cerimoniós va fer donacions per a començar-ne el campanar, i l'obra del temple es va donar per acabada el 1391. No obstant, al llarg del segle XV consten diversos personatges com a directors o mestres d'obres. Entre el 1572 i el 1573 es va construir la cripta.
L'edifici va ser afectat pels bombardeigs de 1714 i, tot i que el 1931 va ser declarat monument històrico-artístic, al 1936 va ser devastat per un incendi. Francesc de Paula Villar ja havia dirigit una restauració general en el període comprès entre els anys 1863 i 1865, i després de la Guerra Civil s'emprengueren diverses obres per a reparar els nombrosos desperfectes: es va refer la traceria de la rosassa, la volta de la sala capitular i es varià l'accés a la cripta a l'eliminar-ne l'escalinata central.
La façana principal, de començaments del segle XIV, ocupa un lloc destacat dins el conjunt arquitectònic, ja que es concep com una projecció a l'exterior de l'estructura interna. És un mur pla flanquejat per dues torretes octagonals, inacabades, i centrat per dues úniques obertures, la portada i la rosassa. Unes motllures estructures horitzontalment la façana. La imatge de la Mare de Déu amb el Nen que hi ha al timpà és un excel·lent exemple d'escultura del segle XIV. La resta de la decoració de la portada és simple i es redueix, pràcticament, als elements arquitectònics. La part alta de la façana és dominada per una rosassa de grans dimensions, de dotze braços, refeta després del 1936.
La llegenda del Gegant del Pi
De la conquesta de la ciutat de Barcelona als moros a l'any 801 per part de les tropes franques de Lluís el Piadós, ens ha arribat la popular cançó del Gegant del Pi, a la qual el Fort Farell simbolitza el conquistador arribat de les muntanyes, contra el Gegant Moro, gegant de la ciutat. El Farell és una muntanya que es troba al costat de Caldes de Montbui i el seu nom coincideix amb una llegenda que diu que en aquella època hi havia una masia anomenada el Farell, en la qual vivia un gegant molt alt i gran. Tenia tanta força que tots li coneixien pel nom de "Farellàs" i ningú dels voltants podia vèncer-lo. Era modest i senzill i duia una vida tranquil·la dedicada al camp.
Un dia, mentre llaurava un bancal, va passar un gegant foraster que va quedar bocabadat davant la seva força. Per això li va proposar anar a Barcelona, on un gegant Moro tenia segrestada a una important i bella dama anomenada Gisla.
De fet, li va costar una mica convèncer-lo, però al final va decidir anar, per a poder tirar a aquell foraster i rescatar a la bella Gisla. I cap a Barcelona va anar.
Pel camí va agafar un pi d'un frondós bosc perquè li servís de bastó i també per a saltar la muralla que envoltava Barcelona per aquell temps. Els nens li seguien i li rondaven cantant-li aquesta cançó:

ara balla ara balla;
El Gegant del Pi
ara balla pel camí.
El gegant Moro li va rebre i li va preparar un bon menjar tal com tenia per costum sempre que algú acceptava el seu repte. Mentre el Farell anava menjant, el Moro, amb ulls rabiosos li deia:
-Menja, menja, Farellàs, que ben poc menjaràs.
El lloc escollit per a celebrar la gran baralla va ser la plaça dels peixos. El Farell es va quedar plantat enmig de la plaça com si fora de ferro, i romania impasible mentre el Moro no parava d'atonyinar-li. Llavors, i com qui llança palla, el Farell ho va llençar per sobre de les cases i de les teulades i va anar a parar als afores de la ciutat.
La multitud cantava la tornada que donava fi a l'opressió exercida pel tirà foraster i així alliberava a la bella dama Gisla:
El Gegant de la ciutat
ara balla ara balla;
El Gegant de la ciutat
ara balla pel terrat.
Llavors el forçut Farell va prendre camí de retorn a la seva casa, però va passar, que durant el camí li va entrar somni i es va tendir sota un arbre per a reposar un poc i poder continuar després.
Va succeir, que mentre el Farell dormia va començar a ploure i a caure calamarsa, de tal forma que aquelles pedretes van cobrir el cos del gegant. Diuen que mai més es va despertar, però que sobre ell es va formar la muntanya que avui es coneix com el Farell.

La Diócesis de Orizaba está preocupada y ocupada en conseguir recursos para reparar el techo de la iglesia de Acultzingo, que presenta severos daños en su estructura e incluso con riesgo de desplomarse, reveló el obispo, Marcelino Hernández.
Están conscientes que rehabilitar el techo requerirá recurso importante, por lo que el paso inmediato es construir un nuevo templo anexo, por seguridad de los 2,000 fieles que acuden a la misa dominical.
“El templo que veo con más urgencia es el de Acultzingo, tanto la cúpula como el techo que se puso de concreto está afectando las paredes y tengo pendiente por la seguridad de la gente, ahí el pueblo ha sugerido hacer un templo nuevo por lo peligroso”, explicó.
Cuando el Obispo acude al municipio a realizar celebraciones, generalmente pide se hagan afuera para evitar el riesgo para los 1,000 ó 2,000 asistentes.

The second round of Roll in a day / A day in a roll took place last Saturday. At first I planned to use my dear Voigtländer Vito I for the challenge, that's why I've been posting pictures taken with it the whole last week. Last Thursday, though, I came across this Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 522/24 that I want to eventually use to repair the film transport of a still dormant Zeiss Ikon Contessa 533/24.
I shot a 36 exposure roll of Kodak Tri-X 400 in Augsburg, Munich and Salzburg. Tomorrow I'm sending it to the lab and I expect to have it back by the end of the week, maybe next week.

La segunda vuelta de Roll in a day / A day in a roll fue el sábado pasado. Al principio había pensado utilizar mi querida Voigtländer Vito I para la ocasión, por eso he estado publicando fotos hechas con ella durante toda la semana. El jueves pasado llegó a mis manos esta Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 522/24, que quiero utilizar para reparar el avance de película de una Zeiss Ikon Contessa 533/24 que todavía duerme.
Hice una película de 36 exposiciones Kodak Tri-X 400 entre Augsburgo, Munich y Salzburgo. Mañana la mando al laboratorio y con suerte llegará para el fin de semana o a principios de la que viene.

El seu origen es remunta a època romana i constituïa la fortalesa o "Praesidium" del recinte emmurallat romà o "oppidum". A la base de les seves quatre torres presenta grans carreus de talla encoixinada vestigis de l'obra romana.
Posteriorment va ser reutilitzat pels visigots. Un cop constituïda la monarquia navarresa va passar a formar part del patrimoni reial. Avui es coneix com a Palau Vell o Palau dels Teobaldos.
El vell "Praesidium" romà va constituir el nucli del Palau fins l'ampliació de Carles III. Envoltant el pati interior es trobaven les dependències de serveis. A l'angle nord-oriental es troba la Torre de la Presó, antiga sala d'armes de la guàrdia del palau, i en el sud-oriental la Torre de Sant Jordi, petita capella construïda per Sanç el Fort. La primera planta acollia les estances reials. A la façana principal s'aixeca la Torre de les Cigonyes, antiga talaia, que recorda un minaret àrab.
El 1414 es van realitzar reformes i es van construir els dos finestrals que donen a la plaça per artistes francesos ajudants de Jehan Lome, on es repeteixen escuts amb les armes de Navarra i Evreux: cadenes i lises amb banda intervinguda, repetides alternativament. Els finestrals donaven a la gran sala de les Corts.
Durant el regnat de Felip II, 1584, es va construir la porta que avui dóna accés al Parador. Té portada manierista de pedra amb llinda coronat per un blasó molt deteriorat. A la llinda es llegeix la següent llegenda: "REINANDO EN LAS ESPAÑAS Y NUEVO M(UNDO E)L CATHOLICO REX DON PHELIPPE NUESTRO SEÑOR, EL EXCMO. SR MARQUES DE ALMA(ZAN) DE SU CONSEIO DE ESTADO, SU BISSO REY Y CAPPITAN GENERAL, MANDO (REED)IFICAR Y CON NUEVAS OBRAS REPARAR ESTA CASA REAL, MDLXXXIIII".
Durant l'Edat Moderna decau l'ús del Palau i es produeix un deteriorament continu fins a la seva destrucció en la Guerra de la Independència. Del Palau Vell es van conservar en bon estat les dues torres orientals i de la resta només els murs exteriors.
Des de 1966 forma part de la xarxa de Paradors de Turisme.

As Torres do Oeste son un xacemento arqueolóxico composto polas ruinas consolidadas dunhas torres de orixe romana que serviron de enclave fundamental para a defensa das terras da arquidiocese de Santiago de Compostela dos ataques normandos na Alta e na Baixa Idade Media.
Trátase dun castelo de acceso libre e uso turístico e foi declarado Monumento Nacional.
Sitúase na confluenza do río Ulla e a ría de Arousa, no concello de Catoira, comarca de Caldas.
No lugar que ocupan as torres tense testemuñado acividade humana desde época castrexa, sabémolo polos restos de cerámica e útiles de bronce atopados.

O 29 de outubro de 1024 o rei Afonso V o Nobre doa a Vistruario bispo de Iria, as torres. Cara ao ano 1040 o bispo Cresconio[2] ordeou importantes traballos de reformas.
Pola Historia Compostelana sabemos que os traballos de melloras e reformas continuaron baixo os mandatos dos sucesores de Cresconio: Diego Páez e Diego Xelmírez.
No século XII defínese a estrutura definitiva do castelo, quedando composta a fortaleza por sete torres que amurallaban un recinto arrodeado de pantanos.
Posúe unha capela do século XII construída por Xelmírez e dedicada ó Apóstolo Santiago. A partir do século XV,a fortaleza comeza a súa decadencia, e finalmente no ano 1525 gran parte das construcións foron destruidas.

Sant Genís de Taradell és una església amb elements romànics i barrocs de Taradell (Osona) protegida com a Bé Cultural d'Interès Local.

Fornícula amb sant Genís
L'església de Sant Genís Taradell es troba al centre de la població. És un temple d'estil barroc que conserva el campanar romànic. L'església és d'una sola nau, amb vuit capelles laterals repartides en cada costat, les quals s'obren a la nau amb arcs de mig punt que descansen sobre impostes. Les de la capçalera són cobertes amb cúpula esfèrica amb finestres poligonals de mitja taronja. La nau és coberta amb volta de canó que descansa damunt impostes decorades amb volutes i finestres a l'arrencada de l'arc que donen llum a la nau. El presbiteri és ovalat i presenta portals rectangulars: un s'obre a la sagristia, mentre que l'altre mena a la capella fonda amb cúpula. Als peus hi ha el cor il·luminat per una gran rosassa amb calats de pedra i vitralls. La façana té el capcer triangular coronat per unes boles de pedra i les vessants de les capelles laterals són seguides per una forma sinuosa. El portal és d'arc carpanell inscrit dines un gran parament de pedra coronat per una fornícula amb imatge. Al damunt hi ha la gran rosassa i ambdós costats s'hi obren finestres amb el mateix arc que el portal. La façana conserva restes d'uns esgrafiats rogencs damunt blancs que emmarquen els elements de ressalt. Malgrat el deteriorament de la façana, l'estat de conservació és força bo.[1]
Campanar
Campanar de torre de planta quadrada situat al nord-est de l'església parroquial, adossat a la capçalera. Consta de planta baixa i quatre pisos i és cobert a quatre vessants. Als murs de la planta baixa s'hi marquen lesenes llombardes, elements que segueixen als angles de tota la torre. Els pisos són marcats per arquets cecs i dents de serra. Al primer pis s'obre una finestra d'arc de mig punt a cada façana, al segon s'hi obren finestres geminades amb columna i capitell mensuliforme i al tercer i quart iguals però de tres arcades. Sota el ràfec de cada una de les façanes hi ha un gran rellotge esfèric. És construït amb gresos grisos amb algunes dents de serra i arquets de pedra semblants a l'església de Santa Eugènia. L'estat de conservació, malgrat la restauració, és bo.[1]
Història
Les primeres notícies de l'església parroquial de la vila de Taradelll daten del 950 i al segle xi fou renovada i consagrada de nou. D'aquella època tan sols en queda el record d'una part de campanar. Als segle xv i XVI fou transformada la primitiva església romànica i s'hi afegí una capella dedicada a la Verge del Roser. Al segle xvii s'hi afegiren dos altars més i el 1654 els francesos saquejaren l'església. L'any 1755 es posà la primera pedra del nou edifici que fou beneït i adaptat al culte per la Festa Major del 1763, i fou bastida amb l'ajuda econòmica dels vigatans/es i pagesos/es en temps del rector Ramon Vila i Grau. L'obra fou dirigida pels arquitectes Josep i Jacint Morató. L'altar major fou guarnit amb un retaule del taller dels Ral que malauradament es va perdre amb un incendi del 1904. No obstant, el taradellencs es van afanyar a reparar els danys produïts, però, amb tot, durant la Guerra Civil fou de nou malmesa

The Diocese of Orizaba is worried and busy in getting resources to repair the roof of the church Acultzingo, which has severe structural damage and even at risk of collapse, said the bishop, Marcelino Hernandez.
They are aware that the roof will require rehabilitating important resource, so the next step is to build a new temple annex, for security of the 2,000 faithful attending Sunday mass.
"The temple I see most urgently is to Acultzingo both the dome and the roof was concrete that is affecting the walls and I have yet for the safety of people, there the people have suggested making a new temple so dangerous "he said.
When the bishop comes to town to make celebrations, usually outside calls are made to avoid risk to the 1,000 to 2,000 attendees.

La Diócesis de Orizaba está preocupada y ocupada en conseguir recursos para reparar el techo de la iglesia de Acultzingo, que presenta severos daños en su estructura e incluso con riesgo de desplomarse, reveló el obispo, Marcelino Hernández.
Están conscientes que rehabilitar el techo requerirá recurso importante, por lo que el paso inmediato es construir un nuevo templo anexo, por seguridad de los 2,000 fieles que acuden a la misa dominical.
“El templo que veo con más urgencia es el de Acultzingo, tanto la cúpula como el techo que se puso de concreto está afectando las paredes y tengo pendiente por la seguridad de la gente, ahí el pueblo ha sugerido hacer un templo nuevo por lo peligroso”, explicó.
Cuando el Obispo acude al municipio a realizar celebraciones, generalmente pide se hagan afuera para evitar el riesgo para los 1,000 ó 2,000 asistentes.
