Repaired damaged concrete reinforcement pilings/columns of home - pilings cracked due to moisture getting into the rebar which caused the rebar to rust and the concrete to start falling off in chunks. Any loose concrete was removed off exposed rebar then the surface was prepared for repair. The surface was washed thoroughly with a bleach and water solution, allowed to fully dry, then a double coat of a waterproof membrane was applied over the rebar to prevent moisture from getting back in and once again rusting the rebar. A polymer concrete was then applied to the pilings. A sponge finish was then applied and the repair was complete.
Participants attempted repairs of small electrical and electronics that were bought in from home - laptops, headphones, portable radios, lamps, kettles, toasters, printers and more! At the event, participants learned how to find faults and safely repair their own broken device with support from the Restart Project's experienced coaches and Fernando from REMAKE. With a bit of help from the experts, they were empowered to fix their own devices, while learning the basics of repair and the importance of the Right to Repair.
