We will remember them,

The ones who stood tall,

Who fought for their country,

The ones who were willing to fall.

We will remember them,

The ones whose lives had shined,

Who were mighty and bold,

May the world be defined.

Look at all our nations,

Oh how far we've come,

As every person will stay in our hearts,

We shall stand one by one.

For ever if I'm far away

I hold you in my heart

I sing a secret song to you

Each night we are apart

Remember me.

I had a wonderful visit to UT Arlington's re-creation of The Alamo @ maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/UTArlington%20III/161/112/23. I was truly impressed with how accurately modeled the entire sim was, and loved being able to enjoy it there virtually, particularly because I'm a Texan myself and have seen the Alamo and surrounding area many times. I hope you'll pay them a visit. You'll learn a lot about all that happened here, and I hope appreciate how well it was re-created in Second Life.

Decades ago when I was a teenager, I went to a Remembrance Day ceremony honouring veterans and the dead from the World Wars. As people were bowing their heads at the playing of the last post this man was moved to tears.

It is said that when you find a white feather, a loved one, who has died, will think of you. I like this thought very much, it has something of calmness and silence. However, you don't find a white feather that often and I was happy that it had a few wet dew pearls and lay so perfectly in the bright green leaves. Unfortunately, I didn't get the photo sharp and perfect because a cocker spaniel was sniffing my dirty knees. There was no way I wanted to delete the photo, so I gave photoshop a chance ;-)! That's what came out, the PS Twirl and a few other filters.

Thanks for looking, much appreciated!

White Rose For Remembrance

It is with sadness I post this image this morning. My dear Flickr mate Graham www.flickr.com/photos/105795663@N04 passed away yesterday, after a battle with cancer.. Graham will be very much missed for both his wonderful images and keen sense of humour.

I am sure you will all join with me in sending condolences to Ingrid, his wife.

I am posting this in the 100 Flowers Group as up until last year Graham had participated in the group.

Remember when going for a Sunday drive was a thing? 😊

"Remember" Interpretation shot for Toy Sunday group.

Going for a Sunday drive I think began in the 1920's and 1930's. It was a fun thing to do on a Sunday afternoon...just to go for a leisure drive in no rush and with no destination. Ahh, the good old days.

Happy Sunday!

Remember the days when tomorrow was none

We lived in the moment, we lived with the sun

Spending our hours on castles of sand

Letting the waves bring us to land

Remember the evenings late by the sea

Orange horizons covered the trees

Let's wait to the moment when no one's around

These beautiful days we once came from

Remember the time when we flew to the calm

Surrounded by mountains, ideas from the ground

Spending our hours where no one could see

Growing our thoughts beneath a tree

Remember the lake side, time moving slow

Turquoise water reflected by snow

Minutes to hours, no movement to come

These beautiful days we once came from

Remember the days when tomorrow was none

We lived in the moment, we lived with the sun

Spending our hours on castles of sand

Letting the waves bring us to land

Remember how you overcame some obstacle in your life? Today I wanted to give up because everything that I tried wasn't working. The breeze kept knocking my props over, I was working with snails that didn't want to participate. I wanted to quit and was tearing up because of the frustration of it all but I stopped and observed a spider struggling to climb it's line. The breeze would move the line and the spider just kept moving and with grit and determination it finally got where it was headed. I decided to do the same and although I didn't get exactly what I wanted I endured the battle and have something to show for it.

Вспоминая Пеле

Back in 2009, we thought this would be the new image of Pan Am. It was pretty close to B&M blue, so nobody was complaining, but they did away with it in favor of the darker blue for reasons that remain unknown. Alas, its all crap now since this is CSX's railroad today.

Knowing all that, 511 being on the point of a long-ago EDNM at Ayer makes the high sun and the huge power line seem a little less bothersome.

I usually keep to season and generally post winter pics on winter and summer pics on summer. but all the pics i've taken lately are so dark, so bad, i only had a few that i could share, all the rest i posted on January are from the winter 2010 or earlier. this one is an archive picture from last summer. it is hard to believe it can be so green outside and light can be so warm and yellow when all i can see now is snow snow snow and light is blue grey...

i have some more pics from this serie on my blog if you'll get a chance to visit.

remembering the Poppies.

Tue, 11 Nov 2025

Poppy Day is on November 11th because this is Armistice Day, the anniversary of the end of World War I. An armistice was signed on that day in 1918, which stopped the fighting at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. The day is a tribute to all those who have died in service since then, with the poppy becoming a symbol of remembrance due to the flowers that grew on the battlefields of WW1.

Remembering what they stood for.

Now that the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting colder, I would like to use my Monday flower greeting to return to the beginning of the year.

Let us remember when the first flowers appeared in the brown of last year's autumn leaves, when the birds singing greeted us again in the morning and we finally felt the warming sun on our skin.

At this point, this little beauty here, the forget-me-not, was also in full bloom.

And so I wish you many beautiful memories for this week (and not just for this week) and the constant certainty that such moments will keep coming. Especially in times when it seems a little darker and colder.

9 years ago today my mother passed away. Her favourite flowers were bluebells and lily of the valley both of which grow in our garden. Her ashes are scattered in a bluebell wood near to where she lived. I found this old photo of her (comments below) during one of my many clear outs recently. I guess she would be around 16/17 years old. The photo would have been taken in her home town of Galway and I seem to remember she said she was stopped by a local photographer who asked to take her photo for the newspaper.

It was five years ago, on Tuesday September 15, that we lost her. She was a beauty and so smart and loving. We miss her always.

Remember, remember the fifth of November,

Gunpowder, treason and plot,

I see no reason why gunpowder treason,

should ever be forgot.

Now, if you will excuse me, I will get back to watching V for Vendetta because I cannot think of a better film to watch on Bonfire Night.
