You found the light in me that I couldn't find
So when I'm all choked up
But I can't find the words
Every time we say goodbye
Baby, it hurts

Whitby Abbey, Whitby, North Yorkshire, England.
Whitby Abbey is a ruined Benedictine abbey overlooking the North Sea on the East Cliff above Whitby, North Yorkshire, England.
The first monastery was founded in 657 AD.
It was disestablished during the dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII (1540).
Though the abbey fell into ruin, it remained a prominent landmark for sailors and helped inspire Bram Stoker's Dracula.

Nature, travel, photography: MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL

I spend quite a large part of my life choosing, testing and repairing photographic equipment. It takes me much more time than creating pictures..
Once I unwittingly overheard a conversation of men drinking alcohol on the river bank.
They talked about fishing and choosing equipment for this.
One of them had a heavy box of various fishing gear. He showed them with pride, laid out and sorted out ... spinners, wobblers, fishing lines, hooks ...
And the other could boast of nothing but a shovel.
But I remember his words well:
".. there are men's magazines about women,
But sometimes it's just a woman.."
After that He dug up worms and went to fish..)
Nice weather and great photos this weekend for all of us
And let the pleasure of the process does not replace the result for us ! ) ) )

The Dunkirk Cemetery's peace and quiet was momentarily broken by the sound of whining traction motors and steel on steel contact. Briefly passing by the resting souls of this small town's hallowed grounds was UP 1943, Spirit of Union Pacific, then leading a highly publicized Q131 on CSX's Toledo Branch.
Some of the headstones in the cemetery included the names and service stars of men and women whom fought in our nations previous conflicts, from Vietnam, all the way back to the Civil War. Even in these small towns, their sacrifices for our freedoms, and way of life, should be remembered. They will not be forgotten.

If you are at the Thanksgiving dinner table today, don't bring up politics or religion. You might end up having to leave the table quickly, with your food in your mouth, LOL.
I hope all of you here in the USA have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Fortunately, I am going to a close neighbor's house for a ham dinner and I am taking a homemade lemon meringue pie. They only live a very short distance from me which is great because my dogs are all getting so elderly I don't like leaving them for any long periods now.
Anyway, have a wonderful day everyone!
We try every year to spend a few days in summer at or around Rarawa Beach. It was a bit disappointing this year when life got in the way and the trip didn't happen. There is always next year.
Need to click and increase the image size to see the rest of the processing.

Taken mid July this year when it was wall to wall sunshine from dawn til dusk. Such a contrast to yesterday’s dark dreary stair rod rain filled greyness. My office overlooks a car park and road, both of which flooded yesterday as a result of heavy rain. These Lisianthus flowers brightened my evening last night when looking for something a little cheery to post for today.
Thanks for stopping
The Shrine of Remembrance. The inscription on the face of the monument reads "This monument was erected by a grateful people to the honoured memory of the men and women of Victoria who served the empire in the great war of 1914-1918".
I'd taken an evening walk around the Botanical Gardens (that are adjacent to the shrine) and when I came back, the sun was just setting, casting its delicate light over the poppies.
Rarely seen in these heavily farmed areas, but recalled from childhood hedgerows and meadows. Now they are mainly seen as the flowers of remembrance as Armistice Day approaches. Beautiful and delicate - brightly they shine!

I was riding my bike in Orlando Florida when I seen this mural dedicated to remembering September 11 it was very big on the side of a gas station I took a lot of pictures of it but the eagle was the number one thing I wanted to use I tried to do my best to honor the original mural . In the middle distance of this view from the heights of the Launceston City Park we can see a strange object. It is indeed a cannon, a remnant of the Crimean War (1853-1856). It was manufactured in St Petersburg in 1840, and was captured by the British after the siege of Sebastopol (1854-55).
The cannon was awarded to the citizens of Launceston for raising large sums of money to support the war. In fact Lancestonians raised the highest average contribution of any Australian city. The gun arrived in 1860.
It is from cannons like this that the bronze is cast to make Victoria Cross medals for military bravery to this day.
In relation to the Infra Red shot itself, I find that shooting into the sun produces the most interesting (backlit) results.
Remembering those who have died and those injured today in yet another stupid senseless attack.
Political goals will never be achieved by attacking and killing the innocents.
