After a bit of a hike, we found this cow moose eating and drinking. The scenery was gorgeous and the experience with her was one we will remember.

Remember what's important to you, fill your heart with memories that make you smile.

.....on her special day with waves of chocolaty goodness!

I found this recipe for marble chiffon cake in mom's cookbook. It took hours to make. Well worth the time, effort, and the zillion eggs! Delicious!!!!!! Goes great with coffee or milk! Served with pureed fruit....... delicious beyond belief. E-mail me if you want the recipe.

The story behind the cake:

I awoke late one night, it was the eve of my fifth birthday (or maybe it was my fourth, who remembers), to find mom walking around the kitchen holding an upside down tube pan with a ladle through the middle in her hand. She had made this special chiffon cake for my birthday, but it had risen above the pan and needed to cool upside down or it would collapse. Since she didn't want to destroy the top of the cake she stuck the ladle through the tube and walked around the kitchen for a very long time until the cake could be turned safely and beautifully out of the pan!

And that's what makes moms so special!

Great character, just sitting outside a coffee house, not sure why he was dressed up, just because he could maybe.

I don't think I'll ever forget the feelings from that morning.

It is Remembrance Sunday in a few days to commemorate the contribution of both military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars and later conflicts. I thought this image of the rural village of Adlestrop will be appropriate.

In our busy lives we rarely have the opportunity to step back, ponder and reflect about what those in the military have sacrificed for us to be able to live in peace. We should never forget what those who served have experienced in the face of danger beyond our comprehension.

I haven't been out to the shores of the Pacific Ocean for a long time. I bet Sammy and his friends are still there. It's their paradise. They look so tiny surrounded by the crashing waves of the Pacific and the stately cliffs they call home.

Sorry I haven't been around on Flickr much. I will be trying to catch up.

The last real vacation we took was pre-Covid to the Oregon Coast in 2019. I was looking at the images from there and remembering what a wonderful time it was. Truly one of my favourite places. This is Cannon Beach at Ecola State Park.

This morning on Skye was one to remember. I was going to title this image 'My favorite morning', but I decided that was too specific. The changing light throughout the sunrise was special, yet as I remembered other sunrises on Skye; two gorgeous sunrises at The Old Man of Storr and several colourful sunrises in the Quiraing I could put this morning among my favorites but not THE favorite. Actually I'm hoping my favorite morning on Skye is one that has yet to happen. But here is some background on one of my favorite mornings on Skye . . .

As it was September, the alarm before sunrise was at a more sensible time than during my May visits to Skye. A glance out the window, where the skies seemed to have potential, had me in the car for a quick drive to the Quiraing. I enjoyed the drive from Kilmuir to the Quiraing parking with never seeing another car on the single lane road. Leaving the car in the empty parking area I headed along the path to begin setting up for sunrise. This was a very enjoyable morning at the Quiraing with the constantly changing views. The low clouds would move over the ridge hiding and then revealing various portions of the ridge, while simultaneously the light would shift highlighting sections of the ridge. I remained in place and enjoyed the morning from this location.

From my location at the Quiraing this was the view of the Trotternish Ridge, visible is Cnòc a Mhèrlich, Cleat while Bioda Buidhe is barely discernible in the cloud cover. In this image the shifting light is only highlighting the base of Cleat and portions of Cnòc a Mhèrlich. In the distance the sunlight can be seen highlighting the clouds that are hiding the Trotternish Ridge On the far right of the image is a curve of the Staffin-Uig road as it climbs the Trotternish Ridge.

Those interested in seeing how the shifting light changed that morning can view the Shifting Light Series album where the images are in chronologically order.

Amy, known as Scarlet Chandrayaan in SL, passed away from cancer today. She was one of my favourite H&G creator. She has always been kind to me, as to many others. She was a beautiful soul.

My heart goes out to all her loved ones.

This pic was set-up @ The Bay (VIP membership for rezz rights). I'm not sure if it will be returned soon, but left it rezzed there for now. I'll take it down on Monday. The Bay has set landing, but you should be able to find this area at coords 192,65,19. The location is marked as Adult.

Share your memories or kind words

♥ There's a black ribbon at Alouette store, for anyone who would like to drop NC and/or textures. Kind words, your memories of her, condolences note...whatever you want. Or you can drop it to Brennie Slade inworld.

♥ A Tumblr set up to share stories about her.

♥ There will be a memorial on Sunday, May 24th (2-4pm SLT). I'm not sure if it's an official memorial. It will be held at Alouette store.

♥ There's an FB event page set-up for a vigil, though to be honest I don't know how this works. Link here.

Thank you for your kindness always, Amy.

Rest in peace.

Well, it's been a while, but, I dun dunnit. I wrote me another Country song. lol As always, what I lack in talent, I more than make up for in complete absence of creativity. LOL I'm kinda the grey and white bits in a kaleidoscope. Not unlike this photograph.

Remember Promises

Do you remember when your promises

Gave me life to face the day?

And, all you really had to say

Was, “I believe in you”

Do you remember when your promises

Blest my day, and sped the night?

Your smile, the fires of love ignite

Yeah, I believe in you

Through the pages of years

Through the storms of tears

Over hills that seemed insurmountable

Valleys deep and yawning

Future, dark and daunting

Our love remains, incontrovertible

Thank God for promises

Yeah

Thank God for promises

Yeah

Do you remember when your promises

Gave me life to face the day?

And, all you really had to say

Was, “I believe in you”

Do you remember when your promises

Blest my day, and sped the night?

Your smile, the fires of love ignite

Yeah, I believe in you

When I look in your eyes

What I see there clarifies

All the love for me, unmistakable

I know that you can feel,

My love for you is real

It’s steadfast, and it’s unshakable

Thank God for promises

Yeah

Thank God for promises

Yeah

I still remember the mischief and fun i did in my childhood.

This past August I attended a solemn service at the location of a lynching that occurred here back in 1905. This local memorial was the efforts of a community, with the support of the Equal Justice Initiative, the Forward Together Coalition and local organizations such as the Historical Society and the Arts Council, to name but a few.

Depicted in my painting is the collection of soil at the location, destined to become a part of an already existing large display of 100's of soil samples from all parts of the US at the Legacy Museum in Montgomery Alabama. Historically, there are over 4400 documented lynchings in the US - most victims of racial terrorism are not otherwise recognized.
