Day 163 of 365: "I Can Relate"
I saw Mom & Dad when I first got to the pond, but didn't spot the little one until they got into the water.
Having just dropped off my little one, I couldn't help but smile at the oddly familiar scene.
Every year, Realtors® Care Day offers a helping hand to homeowners in need by providing exterior home repairs and adaptive safety modifications. Regional Habitat for Humanity chapters, the City of Charlotte, and other housing partners identify homeowners who qualify for the program.
Last month, realtors and City of Charlotte Code Enforcement volunteers joined forces to make a meaningful difference in Charlotte neighborhoods. They performed various tasks such as cleaning gutters, landscaping, repairing stairs, and enhancing exterior areas. We express our gratitude for their hard work and dedication.
Relating back to my theme of 'Growth and Evolution', I decided to focus on the idea of evolution of a photograph. I combined my artist research (John Stezaker and Maurizio Anzeri) to produce some testers prior to creating my final outcomes
I can relate to this piece -- seeing so much of Austin's older buildings getting crushed as new development takes over.

Was over at my parents for Easter and this sign is sitting on top of my Dad's television set. Anything related to my Dad is always humorous whether it be a card or a gift. This leaf relates to wildness because it is a part of nature. It defines "wildness" because it is so natural and beautiful. People engage in reciprocal relations with the leaves on trees, "giving as much as one takes and listening as much as one talks." Methods Used: I molded orange, red and yellow clay together, flattened it and cut it to form the shape of the leaves I found on the ground by my house. I placed it front and center and surrounded it with similar style leaves, pine cones and pine needles. I had my camera on Manual mode and I set it to ISO 800, no flash, Cloudy White Balance, and 1/1250 shutter speed. This model was 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches in dimensions.

Tour guide relating the Island's history to visitors. Abandoned dwellings on Great Blasket Island, County Kerry, Ireland © Linda Dawn Hammond/ IndyFoto June 14, 2019. Read The Islandman before visiting! Inhabited until 1953, when the last remaining inhabitants took their timber rooves with them to the mainland, leaving the houses and school to the elements. One of the buildings I photographed was the remains of the school- possibly this one? I'm still looking for a map of the buildings to identify them. Now a ferry brings visitors from a dock near Dunquin. There is a cafe and accommodation for a handful of people if arranged well in advance, but no electricity or wifi.
This is a prototype for my final piece that relates to my project on the mundane and cutlery.
Close up in top left shows the joint between the base and the black beam.
I originally planned to create a mobile suspended from the ceiling however I simplified this much more complex design into a piece inspired by Alexander Calder's stabiles.
This is an image of five items of cutlery, three of which are laser cut into wood, and two of which were the combination of my own handles and my laser cuts.
I then attached these items onto a wooden beam that I had spray painted black. I attached the items using hooks that I had drilled into the cutlery and into the beam. I measured these items so that they would be perfectly balanced and so that knife was alone on one side as it had a Jesmonite handle and was the heaviest item.
For the base of this mobile I create two irregular curved forms with flat bases, I then cut grooves into the pieces of wood and slotted them together to form a stand. I spray painted this blue and the put a nail in the top of the stand to support the beam.
This nail is shown in the close up in the top left, the nail is carefully placed against the black beam so that the whole structure is perfectly balanced.

guardians who successfully challenge the denial of services to their child with special needs to recover the costs of expert witnesses hired to advocate for their family. This will assist numerous families who have been unable to pursue appeals for their children due to the prohibitive cost of retaining expert witnesses, resulting in many children receiving special education services believed to be inadequate.
