Red Tape Movement
Today, Red Tape Movement mobilized 10,000 students across schools in North India by tying a red tape around a tree, symbolizing our connection to trees and Mother earth and how climate change is going affect that relation in the coming years.
In this regard, today, I organised the 'Red Tape Movement’ for 350.org’s 'Rise For Climate’ in District Kanpur Nagar (Uttar Pradesh province, India) at Buddha Park, Indira Nagar. Our Chief Guest was Mr Narendra Singh Yadav, Joint Development Commissioner, Kanpur Division, Kanpur; Mr Yadav is facing the problem of 'Blood Cancer’s but he is always actively involved in 'Environment Conservation’, specially in 'Sparrow Conservation’ apart from his health issue & busy government job.
We are living in a world of Climate Change. So, we must develop a better and natural “GHG Sink system” to achieve 350 ppm CO2 level in the atmosphere. Trees are “Best Natural Sinks” of CO2 and will be helpful to tackle with Climate Change.
Red Tape Movement was started by me on 5th June, 2008, in District Etawah, to save trees and biodiversity. Under this movement, especially on a holiday, we choose a village and go to this village and do plantation and then tie red tapes on existing trees trunks, with the help of villagers and there, we give them message that to cut the trees is lethal for our future and generations to come. Since 2008, we tied red tapes on thousands of trees and making aware grassroot people about Climate Change and importance of conservation of nature.
Red Tape Movement, is also a Global Partner of 'Rise For Climate' global event ( List of Global Partners riseforclimate.org/#partners ), organised the event in more than 350 basic education department rural schools through 'Teachers Club Uttar Pradesh' & 'Mission Shikshan Samvad Uttar Pradesh'; about 10,000 students and their teachers participated, today ( actionnetwork.org/events/red-tape-movement ). Gen Sec of 'Teachers Club Uttar Pradesh' Mr Avanindra Jadaun, Teacher in Junior High School ( District Etawah) lead the event along with Mr Vimal Kumar, Teacher in Junior High School (District Kanpur Dehat).
Today, rural schools, in throughout 'Uttar Pradesh' and Chhattisgarh provinces of India did plantation, aware students & villagers about Environment Conservation and Climate Change; students tied red tapes on existing trees trunks and taken 'Oath To Save' Trees & Biodiversity and to live Environment Friendly life.
We believe that the Global Climate Action Summit, being held in California on 12-14 September 2018 presents a unique opportunity to pressure local governments and institutions to raise their ambition and do more for climate action. We think this is an opportunity to create pressure on World Leaders for fossil free world.
Every leader has a moral obligation to do everything they can to stop the fossil fuel industry and build 100% renewable energy for all.
We can’t live with energy from fossil fuels. 21st Century is the 'Century Of Climate Change’ and it’s time to repower our communities with clean and renewable energy, so that we can make the 21st Century, the 'Century Of Renewable Energy. Anything less than that is out of line with what science and justice demand.
‘United We’ can save earth from Climate Change, through such people’s participatory grass root level awareness movements. This is MUST to save our beautiful Earth from Climate Change for our future generations to come.
