Rosary bead study drawing in relation to A1. This will be used for a final piece. Trying to study different light and tone within the beads before putting them into final piece.

Decided to bite the bullet and check out the Capilano Suspension Bridge (no relation to the honey company).
Entry was a little steep ($30) but I had come all this way so in for a penny... I assumed it was just a bridge, and given that it looked far shorter than its 136m length I would have been sorely disappointed after paying so much to get in.
The bridge is far wobblier than I thought it would be (well it IS a suspension bridge) and the midday tourist traffic crossing in both directions didn't aid stability. Still, it is sturdily constructed so you feel safe and you get a nice view of the creek some 70m below (would be an impressive sight during the spring thaw I suspect) and surrounding trees. After taking some photos I was soon enough on the other side of the bridge and assumed there was nothing left to do but to turn around for the return journey. I couldn't have been more wrong.
On the other side I thought I had somehow been transported to the Forest Moon of Endor from The Return of the Jedi. Not only did the trees look the same but there was a series of elevated walkways and staircases weaving their way through the treetops above. All up, there is probably a couple of hundred metres of elevated walkways and it is a good deal of fun walking around on those even if the view is rather unsubstantial (mainly just other trees). In addition to the elevated walkway, there is a walkway on the ground that takes about 20 minutes to complete from end to end and has some nice views of the gorge and illustrates how high up the bridge actually is.
There are also a number of ponds with fish and a raptor enclosure with a handful of (sleeping at the time I saw them) birds including a falcon and a kestrel.
There is also a gift shop and some food stands and the obligatory First Nations totem poles.
All in all, an enjoyable, if a little expensive, way to spend an hour or so on a warm summer's day. Park upkeep doesn't come cheap I guess.
In relation to my last post...........great news, Ruby came home from the vets yesterday.
This is a gorgeous Lollypot that Ruby's family sent to me as a thank you for Willy donating his blood.
It was so thoughtful of them, we were so pleased to be able to help.
I hadn't know that cat's were able to donate blood. The vet told us they need to be under 8 years of age & approximately 5 kilos.
Willy had to be sedated & had his fluffy collar shaved.

The exact origins of the Star Of David symbol's relation to Jewish identity are unknown. Though several theories have been put forward. According to one hypothesis, the Star of David comprises two of the three letters in the name David. In its Hebrew spelling , it contains only three characters, two of which are "D" (or "Dalet", in Hebrew). In the Paleo-Hebrew alphabet, the standard alphabet for writing Hebrew before the Babylonian captivity, this letter was written in a form much like a triangle, similar to the Greek letter Delta (Δ), with which it shares a sound and the same (4th) position in their respective alphabets, as it does with Latin. The symbol may have been a simple family crest formed by flipping and juxtaposing the two most prominent letters in the name.
The earliest archaeological magen David national symbol is on a Babylonian bas relief carving, in the 6th century BCE. The Babylonian king historically recorded his conquest of the King and population of Judah. Both kings are shown standing facing each other. The King of Babylon stands on the right. A winged sun disk is above the King of Babylon. The encircled six-legged star pattern magen David is above the King of Judah.
A popular folk tale etymology has it that the Star of David is literally modeled after the shield of the young Israelite warrior David, who would later become King David. In order to save metal, the shield was not made of metal but of leather spanned across the simplest metal frame that would hold the round shield: two interlocking triangles. No reliable historical evidence for this etymology exists.
One belief is that the Star of David is the flattened view of a three dimensional tetratetrahedron, made up of two interlocking four sided triangles.

The Smith Family in relation to the LMA’s MAN Up Program played a significant role in initiating the whole program. It was the Smith Family that approached the youth coordinator, Bilal El –Hayak from the LMA and enquired about the local community in Lakemba. It was Bilal that mentioned how there was a lack of father involvement in their kids lives and how majority of these kids were experiencing mental health problems such as Depression. Following, the conversation, it was agreed by both parties that there was a massive gap of father and son interactions, within the community, so they hypothesised a two day father and son conference designed to close the gap between fathers and sons, and educate fathers on how there constant involvement in their children’s lives can prevent the development of disruptive behaviour disorders like depression. They both worked simultaneously with each other and held various meetings at their offices.
