This butterfly refueling on a nice purple and white flower is (I think) an Ypthima tappana which I came across in Phu Quoc, Vietnam.

Taking a pit stop at the new snack bar at Furzton Lake MK.

Are they discussing how many extra steps they will have to take to burn off those coffee calories...?

It's not often that spectators car get this close to a pit stop

I'm not sure who made the SA 400 cabs, but they had similar corrosive qualities to the Motor Panels cab fitted to the Foden S41.

This is about as "strait-out-of the camera" as you get.....Well as I get. Cropped and bumped the light level up just a hair.

My parents have a hummingbird feeder in their backyard, and I've noticed that there are three little hummingbirds that come around every evening at sun down. I figured this would be an appropriate shot to try my old Nikkor-Zoom 80-200mm f/4.5 out on. So I camped out for a few minutes behind a palm and waited. I actually got a few really good ones, but this one reminded me of when military helicopters refuel mid air. These little buggers are hard to capture because they move so friggen fast!

I originally wanted to do an edit on one of these, but I thought I'd leave as is to show the beauty in this old lens' performance. Even though Im not a fan of zooms, I'm growing to love this old battle axe...the pictures are just so sharp, and the bokeh it produces at 4.5 is pretty impressive. Everybody ought to have one of these lenses just for fun.

I was shooting at f/4.5 at about 135mm when I caught this one.

Have a good weekend everyone...Cheers!

National Rail 6SP5 service from Sydney to Perth refuels at Parkeston with locos NR44,NR25 on 7-3-1999

The USS Independence (CV-62), and the USS Biddle (CG-34) are seen here in the Eastern Mediterranean in the summer of 1982, refuelling from the Military Sealift Command's (MSC's) replenishment oiler Pawcatuck (T-AO-108).

Independence, the fourth and last of the Forrestal-class oil-fuelled steam-driven aircraft carriers, was one of two in the US Sixth Fleet that summer. Biddle, the ninth and last of the Belknap-class cruisers, was part of her protective screen. Pawcatuck, the fourth of five Mispillion-class oilers, and a Military Sealift Command (MSC) unit, was part of her underway replenishment group (URG). The photo was taken from aboard another element of the URG, USS Mount Baker (AE-34).

Whilst this was at the height of the Cold War, and the group was primarily focused on providing support to NATO's Southern Flank, in this instance we were actually heading for Beirut. There we supported the 32nd MAU (Marine Amphibious Unit - a reinforced battalion) who landed temporarily to assist the Lebanese government and protect the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), which was being ejected from the city to various countries around the region following Israel's invasion.

The engineering mockup of the Robotic Refueling Mission (RRM) module is currently on display within the press building at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The RRM mission is a joint effort between NASA and the Canadian Space Agency designed to demonstrate and test the tools, technologies, and techniques needed to robotically refuel satellites in space. Reporters have the opportunity to get a close-up view of the replica module and tools that are a part of the final shuttle mission payload.
