BNSF’s Alliance, Texas, to Portland, Oregon, Q train climbs out of Austin during a brief afternoon storm over Montana Rail Link’s scenic route over Mullan Pass on July 5, 2021. The train is arcing through the big horseshoe curve that circles and then cuts through Iron Ridge between Austin and Weed.

I had some fun with water drops today. Back with the (big) daisies in the garden and armed with a glass of water that I'd added some sugar to (which helps the droplet 'stick') --- I played forever trying to get a drop in the right place, and then to position the camera. And then the breeze picked up, aargh! So this was the best image from my first attempt. I'm encouraged to try again, maybe on some indoor flowers next time (no breeze)!

In 1984 Martin Matschinsky and Brigitte Matschinsky-Denninghoff created the sculpture. The artist couple met in 1952, worked together from the 1960s on large sculptures, each sculpture being an indissoluble joint work. In Kiel, Hanover, and especially in Berlin, other sculptures by them can be seen in public spaces.

"Great Gaia," which owes its name to the primordial mother of Greek and Roman mythology, was formed by the artist couple welding two steel tubes together into elegantly undulating bundles. The tubes run parallel at the beginning, rise slightly from the ground, wrap around each other, remain horizontal, and then rise steeply upwards.

It is impressive that the Berlin artist couple succeeded in making a three-meter-high and 2.5-ton sculpture appear light and moving. This is also due to the surface of the large sculpture made of shiny silver, thin chrome-nickel steel tubes, in which daylight catches and refracts. But this shiny surface is also vulnerable. The "Great Gaia" has already had to be renovated several times, as early as 1997 by the artist couple themselves, in 2008 damage was again detected, and the sculpture was also reworked before it was put back in its original place next to the entrance to the Modern Gallery.

Got to this one a bit late and only had a few shots at it before the sun went out (down).

I'll get a better one next time - maybe with some garden details.

happy tuesday for every one of you.

thanks for your faves, comments, invites and awards.

In the Valley of the Ten Peaks, the gorgeous turquoise waters of Moraine Lake display their incredible blue hues from the refraction of light on rock flour; silt that has eroded from the nearby glaciers.

This is a combination of a crystal glass bowl full of colourful glass beads illuminated from below. A glass containing water and cooking oil was placed on top of the glass beads with the camera lens positioned inside the glass to take a 1:1 macro shot.

** As ever dear Admin/Mods CrAzY Tuesday group: If this photo is not remotely acceptable even if viewed from a very high altitude with the wind blowing from the North I fully and completely agree not to enter into any complaint whatsoever either written, verbal, in-person, in-dreams or in any way that might result in causing unwanted stress to yourselves or family pets :)

CC December Rainbow Game - Purple

I originally shot this for Macro Mondays group, but I can't guarantee the negative space meets the size restrictions.

Playing in my makeshift studio! I'm still playing with drops, as if you didn't notice! LOL I'm trying to perfect my technique. Its relatively easy to make and place the drops but getting the refraction dead sharp is another level. I feel pretty good about this one. The flower in the BG is the same as my previous post shot outside with all-natural dew. I cut a few out of the meadow weeds for this shot. 6 images stacked

'refraction sunset' On Black

There seems to be some wish to see it the other way up. Personally I don't really think it works. The point is that it is a refraction and so upside down, and one gets away with imperfections. This one is definitely not perfect enough.

I grow these flowering plants, so much fun to have outside in the summer months! Reminds me of the tropical Islands!

Some benefits of cold weather... I really liked the fact that the angle of this shot allowed for refraction of both the light background and the blue sky above.

All in a raindrop.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.

After the heavy rain, drops were everywhere on the petals. Just a matter of getting focus with an interesting background!

I have seen so many fantastic refraction shots here on flickr I though I would give it a try, took so many shots from different angles and to be honest I failed miserably, but after all the time i put into trying to get a Refraction shot thought I would post the best of the bad batch LOL

Sorry posting and running, will be back to catch up on your streams this evening

This is my first try at waterdrop refraction and it is an enjoyable indoor challenge when it's too hot outdoors.
