WASHINGTON - AUGUST 28: Hundreds of thousands of people gather at a rally aptly named 'Restoring Honor,' to show support of the US military, organized by conservative US radio and television commentator Glenn Beck, one of the de facto leaders of the Tea Party movement, at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC, on Saturday, August 28, 2010. The rally takes place controversially at the spot where civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. made his legendary 'I Have a Dream' speech 47 years ago.

A day of dramatic light at our nation's Capitol. The reflecting pool was installed in 1970.

West side of the building looks out over the mile-long National Mall and the Lincoln Memorial at the far west end. The central equestrian sculpture below the dome represents the Union's Civil War general, Ulysses S. Grant.

NICE ON BLACK.

The Bombing occurred at 09:02 by a bomb planted on the street that is now the reflecting pool between the 9:01 and 9:03 walls that now signify the world before and after this attack.

Night shot, OK City Bombing Memorial...I made this visit to Oklahoma City specifically for night shots at this site. Hope you all like these shots, I am pleased with the results.

The water system for Cranbrook Gardens was turned off all last year. It's good to see the pools full and the fountains flowing again.

At the end of this pool lies the lair of a 20 foot high stone man! Flee for your lives!

This is a fantastic building and a great addition to Dallas' Arts District. This building looks great during the day and especially stunning at night. The design was by Foster + Partners under Pritzker Prize-winning architect Norman Foster and Senior Design Partner Spencer de Grey.

This was somewhat painful to look at. When Reunion Arena first opened, this was a welcoming place for visitors from around the country and around the world. The Dallas Mavericks took pride in their Arena and many famous bands came to perform throughout the 1980s and 1990s. It is sad to see something that was so artistically designed and carefully thought out go into such a state of despair. Once a gorgeous fountain and reflecting pool, now just a catch all for trash, leaves, and forgotten clothing from the homeless.

Taken from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, at approximately the place that Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his "I have a dream" speech. They decided to empty the reflecting pool to work on it and clean it while I was there. So where will Forrest jump in?

Rainy Evening in NYC. December 2011.

The hemicycle houses the Women In Military Service for America memorial at Arlington Cemetery and is fronted by one of Washington's many reflecting pools.

My wife and I took a moment to contemplate the tranquil scene, until the peace was broken by a military policewoman yelling commands at a coach driver (presumably German, as he seemed to be having trouble understanding her) who'd evidently missed the turn for the visitor centre and was trying to drive his busload of gawking Euro sightseers straight into the heart of the cemetery.

The dimwit driver eventually got the message in the end and backed up. As the policewoman returned to her position she shared a look of exasperation with us. She did well to not mention the war, I felt.

The view of the Washington Monument across the reflecting pool from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. This is where MLK made his "I have a dream" speech after the March on Washington - there is a great photographic exhibit of the event inside the Lincoln Memorial.

Reflecting Pool at the Mormon Temple in Utah, lit up for the Christmas season. I sat right on the edge of the pool, careful not to get bumped by the thousands of people taking their own photos. The lights are amazing. They are interwoven down each and every branch on almost every tree.

Flanking the South Lawn at the University of Melbourne, the reflecting pool is just 200mm deep due to weight restrictions (it is directly over the Southern car park). The car park and the South Lawn space form an integrated design: the concrete pillars which support the ceiling of the underground car park are hollow, accommodating the root systems of the trees in this picture.
