Love birds among the gulls at the Capitol Reflecting Pool

The Corte Ducale is the wing of the Castello Sforzesco originally used as ducal residence; it features a court with two loggias, a smaller one at left and a larger one at its end, called Loggiato dell'Elefante due to the presence of a fresco of an elephant.

A mallard duckling tests its wings by standing out of the water.

Momma and poppa went for a swim. Hope they come back! Taken at the Reflecting Pool, Washington D.C. These three were by themselves, with Mom and Pop apparently in the reflecting pool. Such tiny creatures! While I was there, two of them fell off the edge into the pool, but managed to pop back up on to the edge. A Park Ranger came along in a bit and put up two orange cones on either side. A sight to see on a sunny warm spring afternoon!

The Rats restaurant at the Grounds for Sculpture is really a lovely place to sit and relax over a really good meal once you're done wandering the grounds. I've found the food to be excellent and who could fault the ambience? The reflecting pond has a couple of sculptures around it, one of the larger ones is "Leucantha" by Philip Grausman and is the head of the woman to the left. She's sometimes bathed in mist for a mysterious look. This is a panoramic shot made up of two photos stitched together with PtGui Pro.

We decided to visit the Lincoln Memorial and the surrounding park today. The weather was rather mixed. The day started with rain, then it cleared up a bit, to start raining again. It was nice regardless. It also wasn't that crowded. Maybe because of the weather.

Still walking along the reflecting pool, looking at the WW2 Memorial and Washington Monument. The Capitol can be seen to the left of the monument (very small).
