'Reflect' On Black

Vestrahorn is a gabbro mountain up to 454 meters (1490 ft) high that rises out of the flat black sand beach on the Stokksnes Peninsula in Iceland. As the tide came in over the lagoon, I searched for a location where I could get a full reflection of the Vestrahorn mountain in the water.

Himmelmoor is a large-scale peat bog near Hamburg that is being renaturalized. The dead unwanted trees are reflected in the rising water level.

We passed this spot several times while traveling back and forth on the main road in and out of Pemaquid Point in Maine. Each time it was full of people swimming. On this particular time it was a Monday evening late in the day (about an hour before sunset, and it was clear ... and smooth as glass. Pulled over for a couple quick snaps.

A nice roadside bit of paradise that can be found in America if you drive slow enough to stop in time :))

... and if Ms. Krach says it is okay to stop again and snap a couple quick shots.

When the light hits the clear juice droplets that have oozed from this apple it is reflected upside down and shows the orchard trees close by.

Some LP fun under an old metal WW2 railroad bridge.

Frozen water in late afternoon light.

Got myself up and out for what turned out to be a very pleasing sunrise at Covesea, near Losiemouth, this morning. This was taken at the height of the colour and I was able to make use of a rockpool left by the receding tide for a decent reflection of the lighthouse.

Street and parking lots under the bridge. The light is reflected from the adjacent building under the bridge and shimmers on the black floor covering.

....a shot which shows how the rising sun hits the lower part of this rock arch and reflects it up onto the arch itself. A phenomenon which has attracted people to witness this spectacle for themselves, and what a great sight it is! (Just don't expect to be there alone!!!) A shot by way of a change from our green, damp summer.
