Often when the sun goes down the colours are reflected in the clouds to the north. This was one of those lucky moments.
Taken from my north facing bedroom.
A photo of the western sunset follows later.
Here is a picture I took Last summer of our galaxy rising over Mt. Saint Helens from Coldwater lake. This is a 22 image 2 layer Panorama stacked in PTGui and processed in Lightroom and Photoshop. Hope you all enjoy and thanks for any constructive comments.
I like to shoot water reflections. A while back my flickr friend copeg posted a shot of rays reflected in an alpine lake ( www.flickr.com/photos/copeg/1372482546/in/set-72157605045... ) that I liked a lot. I'd never seen that situation myself. Now I have!
I cloned out a light pole and crane on the distant horizon here.

This easterly cloud mass was reflecting the sunset. I was disappointed that I didn't have a clear shot of the sunset but this scene was a satisfactory alternative.
It was a lovely sunny morning and St. Pauls was reflecting very well in all the glass and water nearby.

Dusk Photo of a reflected elephant in silhouette. The elephant is drinking water at Okaukuejo waterhole in Etosha, Nambia. Taken on a high iso 2500 at 1/400 to freeze trunk.
I noticed how a walker reflected in the sunglasses of this woman gave her eyes a strange look as though she had alien pupils.
Reflection of the Hall of Justice
600 W. Jefferson Street, Louisville, KY
I don't know if there's a name for this hideous style of architecture (large concrete rectangles), but Louisville has plenty of this mixed in with the old and beautiful. I thought it was an interesting juxtaposition to see the new Hall of Justice, a really creative architectural landmark, reflected in the windows of this concrete slab of a building next door.
The concrete slab houses a variety of court rooms and judicial offices.
I liked the reflection of the trees in this little pool. The water was at Millenium Bridge at Kirkby Stephen.
This is the so called "Mirror Lake" reflecting the Mount Dachstein (2995m) in Austria. We hiked there earlier this year and I have to say this is one of the most beautiful places in the Austrian Alps I've been so far.

A great white egret landing at the Celery Farm(NWR). Shot this weeks ago. Winter is fast approaching, stealing with it, most of my favorite subjects. I'm having a tough time finding new ones, so if I don't post a pic daily, this is why. Can't find anything that works. Hopefully not to often..
The World Trade Center Memorial in New York City. This is the memorial built in place of the south tower destroyed in the attacks on 9/11/2001.
From Michael Arad, the designer of the memorial....This memorial proposes a space that resonates with the feelings of loss and absence that were generated by the destruction of the World Trade Center and the taking of thousands of lives on September 11, 2001. It is located in a field of trees that is interrupted by two large voids containing recessed pools. The pools and the ramps that surround them encompass the footprints of the twin towers. A cascade of water that describes the perimeter of each square feeds the pools with a continuous stream. They are large voids, open and visible reminders of the absence.
Thanks for taking a look at my pictures and photostream. I appreciate all the fav's and comments. If you're interested in seeing more photos from my trip to Annapolis, Philadelphia, and New York, check out the rest of the ArmyNavy17 album here.
I was at Golden Ponds before the big Rockies two foot snow, maybe 14 inches here at the Longmont, Boulder County greenbelt and rec area and I was in no particular hurry so I stumbled around the first pond and finally looked up and saw the sky. Usually I head out after examining the vertical and wide prospects. This spot is surrounded by city and the turn into the rec. area is just a few car blocks away from home base. I wanted to look for possible locations even though the sky has been the pits recently and bagged shooting. I checked the incoming clouding so I could gauge the longevity of my trek. I have moved faster but this is slow-moving weather.
This scene includes some reflected sky, the fall has fell but autumn shouts this bold image. I liked the sky. I augmented the cloud separations for the presentation. I knew I'd have some work to try to contain the range. I wandered the green space and took some detail shots that were available, I mostly neglected including the sky. I love shooting these scenes with this camera and lens.
