One more before the snow flies ;-)

HSS!

Photographed on a Sunday afternoon exploration with Kiyoshi-san, Mari, NJ, Sun, and Yukiko-san. Main Street, Vancouver. October 4, 2015.

Delaware Lackawanna PO-75 has just passed block station MILL in Mt Pocono. The crew has no pick-up at Ardent Mills today and will continue west with two "Bigs" and three cars. The sun was obscured by clouds, and it was actually snowing lightly only seconds before the slow-moving train reached the overpass.

One of my early posts to Flickr. I have given it a re-touch to bring it back to life... so to speak.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIEWS, COMMENTS, FAVES AND INVITES!

I APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH.

Theme of the week at Macro Mondays is: Redux 2019

I choose “Handmade”

Whilst I was moderately happy with my previous shot of the Pulpit Rock at Cape Schanck, I felt that it was lacking some clouds to really bring it out. So here is another attempt - one that I am happier with.

For those of you who’ve been to Manhattan, you’ve likely been shocked to see aircraft flying so low. Because I could not wait for perfect alignment and light, I did the next best thing with Photoshop!

As friend and fellow Flickr member johnwmacdonald put it, it was at this point when I used Photoshop it ceased being a photograph and became an illustration.

A crisp October afternoon

What I post on Flickr is landscapes, but off the Internet I do performance and the occasional portrait. I have an entry in a competition in a museum here---if you are on Facebook and you like what I've done, like it up on the link below!

The original photo is one of my personal favourties. I often like to de-saturate shots to the point where there's just a hint of colour. Many others really don't like that look, and so I thought I'd try putting some colour back into this one (felt sort of like I was colorizing an old B&W movie) :D

20A stalled coming up the Slope due to an engine failure which then bunched up the eastbounds. A helper set was sent to rescue the distressed train. Once together they continued east and here lighting up the dense air at Lilly, PA. Over 25 minutes of continuous traffic passed as the eastbounds roared up the mountain in succession along with a couple westbounds.

A beautiful day on the grounds of Drottningholm Palace, home of the Swedish Royal family. Though no royals to be seen, during the summer months there are many locals and tourists alike walking about this beautiful outdoor garden space. The 18th century-style architecture, painted in traditional Scandinavian shade of yellow, is a popular place to photograph - with tourists, or as the backdrop for wedding parties.

(Just a bit of personal adjusting)

I don't usually post 2 versions of the same photo (original version here ), but I've been meaning to alter this for a while. (Taken in Cherry Hinton Hall grounds - Cambridge, 4th September 2005).

Still kicking, not gonna complain (much) about being super busy, just need to keep it up for 2 or 3 years and then retirement. Too soon to have what we called in the military, "short timers syndrome", where all the small annoyances really bug you out of proportion, and time can't go fast enough. Nope, not gonna go there, much.

Been home for a couple of days, so busy there when you only have a couple of days to visit family and do all the mundane things like laundry (I always bring enough clothing to last a month, the truck stop laundry machines are expensive and destroy clothing pretty fast) shopping for food and other items in preparation for the next month away. Even managed to get to my doctors appointment on time, and filled prescriptions. A battle on the prescriptions with my insurance company, why am I on the expensive drugs instead of some of the older cheaper ones. At least with the insurance company I was able to get things squared away, can't imagine dealing with some government bureaucracy.

So today suppose to be back on the road, but my pickup load wasn't ready, won't be until late tonight, errrr! Now waiting on my dispatcher to find something else, or god no, have to wait until tonight. So while waiting decided to post something and visit some of you on Flickr until duty calls again.

So many pictures ready to post, but decided on reposting this newly processed shot from 2016. Why? Because the orginal picture didn't do justice to the scene as I saw it. My processing skills have improved and it really shows in this example, in my opinion at least.

I'm including a link to my orginal posting so you can see what I mean, if you have time and feel like looking. No problem if you don't, I know everyone's busy.

Here's the orginal posting from a few years ago.

Yosemite Falls is the highest waterfall in Yosemite National Park, dropping a total of 2,425 feet (739 m) from the top of the upper fall to the base of the lower fall.[2] Located in the Sierra Nevada of California, it is a major attraction in the park, especially in late spring when the water flow is at its peak. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yosemite_Falls

#MacroMonday, #2016 Redux,

I joined in the middle of the year. I have tried combining two themes, Button and Textures.

Happy New Year!

This barking tree frog inside a green canna plant continues to be a perennial favorite within the micro stock design community...and I've alway marvelled at where this image helped lead me over the last two years.

The backstory:

During the summer of 2005, I took this shot in our garden when I was attempting to capture the swirls in the canna leaves. I was really surprised to see the frog residing inside the plant and snapped several shots with my point and shoot camera - a Canon S500.

Thus, one of my most well known shots was based on pure luck.

This is a new crop of the file that I originally uploaded to Flickr almost two years ago. One of the designers who liked it asked me to crop it differently to bring the frog more to the forefront of the image, and this was my favorite of the cropped versions.

I like to call this frog the good luck charm within my portfolio.... because without the positive feedback of the Flickr community so many months ago on a version of this image, I doubt if I ever would have thought I could actually sell my photos...

Thank you for your continued visits to my photostream. Your kind and generous comments and suggestions have helped take me in directions that I never imagined, and I continue to be so VERY grateful to this magical community.
