Camber Sands is a beach at the village of Camber (near Rye), East Sussex, England. It is the only sand dune system in East Sussex and is located east of the estuary of the River Rother at Rye Bay all the way to the East Sussex/Kent border.
A large section of the western end of the dunes lie within the Camber Sands and Rye Saltings Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), while the rest is designated a Site of Nature Conservation Importance. The dunes are accreting (gradually getting bigger). The dunes are managed to prevent problems with wind-blown sand.
The F-16 is slowly leaving the USAF. Hill AFB used to operate 4 F-16 Sqn's, but have traded these now for the F-35A.

The water was 72 F. warm but yesterday was a red flag day which means dangerous conditions, big waves and a mean undercurrent. So you see there really isn't anyone in the water except the surfers who love the big waves and don't get involved in the undercurrents and rip tides.
This was taken from the San Clemente pier where we had the best lunch ever, blackened halibut, sour dough bread and a dessert to die for.
Elite pilots form the Agressor Squadrons at Nellis Red Flag Exercises. Nice colour schemes on their mounts. Now it's time for them, master of ACM!
B-52H returning from the last Red Flag mission of the week. In this case they were returning over Cheyenne that gives different light than over the speedway.
Avanti o popolo, alla riscossa
bandiera rossa s'innalzerà;
bandiera rossa, bandiera rossa
bandiera rossa trionferà.
Poiché non vogliam sfruttati
né vogliamo sfruttatori,
ci hanno detto quei signori
che la loro è libertà:
libertà d'esser padroni,
di poterci derubare,
siamo in tanti a lavorare,
sono in pochi a guadagnar.
Avanti o popolo, alla riscossa
bandiera rossa s'innalzerà;
bandiera rossa, bandiera rossa
bandiera rossa trionferà.
Poiché noi vogliam la terra
che ci avete derubato
e che per troppo vi abbiam lasciato,
ci gridate malfattori!
Ma le fabbriche potenti
che vi abbiamo costruito,
che ci hanno imprigionato,
ora noi vogliam guidar.
Vogliam le fabbriche, vogliam la terra
e non più guerra ma libertà,
e non più guerra, e non più guerra,
e non più guerra ma libertà.
(Testo di Gualtiero Bertelli, 1976)
This is an anti-war version of a the famous popular song "Red Flag".
The original version of the Italian worker's song "Bandiera rossa" ("Red Flag"), which is also known as "Avanti Popolo" ("Forward People") has been written in 1908 by Carlo Tuzzi. The melody has been borrowed from two Lombardian folk songs (according to other sources, from a Venicean love song).

Heliconius comprises a colorful and widespread genus of brush-footed butterflies commonly known as the longwings or heliconians. This genus is distributed throughout the tropical and subtropical regions of the New World, from South America as far north as the southern United States. The larvae of these butterflies eat Passion flower vines (Passifloraceae). Adults exhibit bright wing color patterns to signal their distastefulness to potential predators.
Heliconius butterflies have been the subject of many studies, due partly to their abundance and the relative ease of breeding them under laboratory conditions, but also because of the extensive mimicry that occurs in this group. From the nineteenth century to the present-day, their study has helped scientists to understand how new species are formed and why nature is so diverse.
Because of the type of plant material that Heliconius caterpillars favor and the resulting poisons they store in their tissues, the adult butterflies are usually unpalatable to predators. This warning is announced, to the mutual benefit of both parties, by bright colors and contrasting wing patterns, a phenomenon known as aposematism.

My wife and I liked Red Flag 21-1 so much we decided to check out 21-2. We knew it was going to be smaller so we only stayed for one full day. What we didn't count one was the nasty weather. Blah grey sky, very windy, and cold for the morning takeoffs. Takeoffs were to the SW so we joined up with a bunch of other spotters to watch the planes leave on Cheyenne Avenue. When the fighters take off on the 21R they bank right above your head so you get a mix of belly and side profiles - but it is a cool experience. Tankers and bombers tend to use 21L so you have a better angle but if there were no clouds you would be shooting into the sun. Despite this we had a good time. After the morning rush headed out we moved to the Speedway area for the recovery. All in all a very good day, even if we were turning blue and felt sandblasted.
I took these photos in early March 2021 near Las Vegas, Nevada.
Watching a stranger play in the water and contemplating approaching him for 100 strangers. It's still really hard for me to get up the courage to approach people... everyone has been nice so far, but I'm always worried they will think I'm nuts!
