For a design class in the spring, we were tasked with doing a photographic interpretation of the letters ME, for a new Mechanical Engineering logo. This was one of my group's submissions.

Pages designed by the page planners of LEADERSHIP newspaper in Abuja, Nigeria after being trained by U.S. journlaist and design consultant Robb Montgomery. The design was a six-month project produced by Montgomery Multimedia in Berlin.

The assistance page was originally called Service Desk and was constructed of a couple of pages. I combined all the pages into one simple place for the visitor to find everything they need. The assistance page was made for everyone, whether you are trying to look at your orders online, or maybe just trying to get an answer to something.

The Columbia Journalism Review, watchdog to us all in the news biz, used to sport a simple, smartly styled design that presented editorial content without overpowering it (and managed to impress a distinct design flavor on the user all the while).

 

That’s gone now, in an odd time warp that feels like it’s making all the past decade’s news site design mistakes all at the same time. I kept clicking around, hoping this was some kind of stunt. But I don't expect to be doing much clicking for the foreseeable future.
