My second attempt at star trails. The first one was thwarted by fog on the lens. This one was almost thwarted by 2 rednecks wanting to go fishing 50 feet from where I was doing star trails (removed the "bad light" in post-processing).
This is around 300 30-second exposures (about the time it takes to watch 2 South Park and 2 Breaking Bad episodes on your iPod), stacked together using a brilliant program found here:

Coming back from a tasty fried shrimp dinner at Singleton's Seafood Shack (just north of Jacksonville Beach), we spied a spectacular sunset over the Naval shipyard. About the time I set up my tripod, an armada of huge pickup trucks pulled up, intrepidly going into about 12 inches of the Intracoastal Waterway. I could tell that they were locals, and that this was a not unusual thing to do. They opened their beer bottles, brought their lawn chairs into the water to enjoy the view along with us, and waded out to try some late-day cast net fishing. Ah -- the good life, and for free, too! (Who needs Ft. Lauderdale and a $50 million yacht, anyway?)
