In a wash in the Red Cliffs NCA, this Red-naped Sapsucker was enjoying the late fall weather.

Frequent visitor in the yard. I find this one very entertaining. Always seems to have a lot to say and doesn't share well.

This is a red Schlumbergera truncata. Commonly known as a Thanksgiving Cactus. Not a macro, taken with a regular Tamron 70-200mm lens

Carnevale di Venezia

A colour test for my Shiptember build (engines only). I've tried over 20 colour schemes but landed back where I started, red and white.

Figured I'd give it a sci-fi Soviet twist since I've been using Cold War technology as an inspiration for detail. The five-pointed star is brick built and was pretty difficult to integrate into the engine nacelle, but it worked out in the end.

The Red Junglefowl is the primary progenitor of the domestic chicken. It was first domesticated at least 5000 years ago in Asia. Since then, it has spread around the world, and the domestic form is kept globally as a very productive food source of both meat and eggs. Clicked in the aviary at Karanji Lake, Mysore.

Got a few shots of this guy and all of them had sticks and dried grass in the shot. Didn't even try to remove them. They blend in the blur lol. Great looking animal.

I think I got a shot of it earlier this season. Out of focus. The image I added blur.

Red Sea - liveaboard boat

Rhizophora mangle, known as the red mangrove, is distributed in estuarine ecosystems throughout the tropics. Its viviparous "seeds," in actuality called propagules, become fully mature plants before dropping off the parent tree. These are dispersed by water until eventually embedding in the shallows.

As a viviparous plant, R. mangle creates a propagule that is in reality a living tree. Through resembling an elongated seed pod, the fully-grown propagule on the mangrove is capable of rooting and producing a new tree. The trees are hermaphrodites, capable of self-pollinating or wind-pollinating. The tree undergoes no dormant stage as a seed, but rather progresses to a live plant before leaving its parent tree. A mangrove propagule may float in brackish water for over a year before rooting.

From a visit to Newcastle's Colisseum - Antiques & Collectables. Taken with a Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 5.8cm f2 (Red T) wide open, extended.

This was taken right outside our window. We were lucky enough to have had a cardinal couple make their home so near ours. This is one of a very few Kodachrome shots I have ever made.

This bird, the cardinal, is the state bird of Illinois and half a dozen other states.

Found a pair of foxes hunting along the road in early morning light south of Pagosa Springs. This one's mate ran away, but I was able to call this one in closer by making squeaking sounds with my voice. Our beautiful world, pass it on.

A set up shot for Studio 26 assignment 'exploring the colour red'. I have just read the book; a strange tale, I think aimed mainly at young teenagers but I still enjoyed it.

Having said I had nothing red, I then thought of Clive's red pot and 'grumpy old man' mug, put together with my book.
