Yesterday, Tuesday 13 August 2019, Greater Manchester Police welcomed 100 new recruits to the force.
The officers were officially sworn in at a formal ceremony attended by Chief Constable Ian Hopkins, senior officers and magistrate Joan Cooper.
Bev Hughes, Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester, presented the new officers with their warrant cards.
The Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Warren J Smith and the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Cllr Abid Chohan were guests of honour.
The attestation ceremony was held at Manchester Grammar School.
Family and friends watched the new officers make their oath to uphold their role with fairness, integrity, diligence and impartiality throughout their time in post.
New recruits have to complete a two year probation period which includes classroom based learning and a year of active patrol.
During their training they will have the same of level of authority as regular officers, including the power of arrest.
The new recruits are replacing those who have either retired or left the organisation and therefore helping GMP to maintain current officer numbers.

Pliett, a 22-year-old native of Fort Wayne, Ind., continued to prove her desire to earn the title of United States Marine by completing obstacles during the 54-hour culminating event. The Crucible is designed to emphasize teamwork and adherence to the Corps’ core values under arduous and stressful conditions. November Company is scheduled to graduate July 3, 2013. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Well, if you saw Wonder Woman the Movie, you know that sadly, a few Amazon warriors died fighting Nazis in WWI. Now, because they're immortal, they can't have kids- their numbers were static, which really sucks because there are some holes in their society that just haven't closed.
Over the years, an Amazonian scryer has been watching for the strongest, bravest and smartest women all over the world, who are then given the opportunity to become honorary Amazons and live on Paradise Island.
Failing to find any who fit that bill in recent generations, they lowered standards just a bit and recruited these ladies of the WWE. HAH! but I kid! (Don't hurt me!)
I am not a fan of WWE but I am a fan of strong, feisty women who can dole out Da Pain and these lovely Barbies were on sale! So I bought 5! I have officially lost my mind!
I'd prefer a jointed torso and jointed feet, but these ladies are so nicely built and sculpted, that I am happy with my purchase. I HAD to get Becky Lynch as, well... BECKY... And she has red hair AND she has green eyes AND she wears steampunk so omigerd, she hadda come home to me. Plus her sculpt is really pretty!
In fact, they all are here. I thought I'd be put off by the HUGE grin on the blonde one's (Natalya, I think) face but she looks so darned happy that she makes me smile. The brunette (Brie..? I should probably write their names down somewhere) is super pretty- love that almost-Cher sculpt! Each one is painted differently and sculpted differently, and I really like that.
So here they are, waving good bye to the outside World of Man and launching their new lives as Amazonian warriors. I predict kooky chaos will ensue! (And I had to justify all my Wonder Woman doll purchases somehow...)

Training was provided by ”synergy” cooperation with Reserve Soldiers from Company “C,” 1st Battalion, 417th Regiment and Company “C,” Infantry Battalion, both out of Fort Indianhead Gap, and the 365th Engineering Battalion from Schuylkill Haven, Pa. Sgt. Daniel Gordon, the Future Soldier leader from the Harrisburg Opportunity Center, oversaw this event for all three of the company’s opportunity centers. Having trained as a PCSO, Tom Hall is taking the next step in his policing career by becoming a police officer.
The 34-year old worked in his previous role at Stockport Division for 11 years and said that this was the natural stage of progression in his career.
He said: “By becoming a police officer I want to be able to push myself to make a difference for the community.
“As a PCSO I have loved being a part of the area, talking to people and understanding their issues. I am now looking forward to making a difference and want to make the public feel reassured and safe.”
Tom has been posted to Bolton Division. He and 95 other new recruits were attested into the role of police constable on Tuesday at a formal ceremony held at Stockport Town Hall.

Wildland Fire Recruitment Fair held at the Weber State University, in Ogden, Utah. Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest and Regional fire personnel were on hand to answer questions and assist interested individuals in applying for seasonal wildland firefighting jobs. The attestation ceremony was held at Stockport Town Hall.
The Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Walter Brett, was also on hand to welcome the new recruits.

First-ever women recruits of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) patrol the India-Pakistan border fence at Attari village near Amritsar, India, September 11, 2009. A total of 178 women recruits mostly between the age group of 19-25 have been inducted into the BSF after completing 38 weeks of training.
