Harrisburg Recruiting Company hosts a Mega Future Soldier Event “Operation Recruit ARMY STRONG” April 30 at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pa. Close to 115 Future Soldiers and their guests attended the event, which showcased training sessions on first aid, parachute rigging and air rocket familiarity, and simulator training on convoy missions, M-16 and M-4 rifles. Training was provided by ”synergy” cooperation with Reserve Soldiers from Company “C,” 1st Battalion, 417th Regiment and Company “C,” Infantry Battalion, both out of Fort Indianhead Gap, and the 365th Engineering Battalion from Schuylkill Haven, Pa. Sgt. Daniel Gordon, the Future Soldier leader from the Harrisburg Opportunity Center, oversaw this event for all three of the company’s opportunity centers. PANORAMA CITY - The Los Angeles Fire Department's Recruit Training Academy Class 22-2 celebrated their class graduation on December 15, 2022, as they became proud probationary members of the LAFD.
Friends and family of the graduates were joined by City of Los Angeles Fire Chief Kristin Crowley and civic and community leaders, in congratulating and welcoming the 48 newest members of the Department in a ritual filled ceremony that was also streamed live on-line.

Wildland Fire Recruitment Fair held at the Weber State University, in Ogden, Utah. Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest and Regional fire personnel were on hand to answer questions and assist interested individuals in applying for seasonal wildland firefighting jobs. The Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) graduated recruits from its training academy on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Valley Recruit Training Academy (Drill Tower 81) in Panorama City. The recruits completed a rigorous training curriculum preparing them for a successful career with the LAFD.
LAFD Class 21-4 transferred to their first probationary assignment, reporting as early as July 3, 2022 (depending on which platoon assignment they received).

At the onset of WW1 the minimum height requirement was 5ft 3ins, as the war drew on with the need for more recruits the requirement was lowered to 5ft. This resulted in Battalions being formed by shorter men, many from the coalfields where short stature did not mean weakness. These Battalions were known as Bantam Battalions.
