I am a permanent placement recruiter specializing in RNs for ER/Trauma and ICU units. I have been with Parallon since January 2012.

I thought that I wanted to be a Nurse; however, the sight of blood did not work out too well for me. I enjoyed being in the hospital with all the great people that show they care and work hard. People like me. So that led me to the next greatest job there is. Helping those same types of people find rewarding careers.

I have spent close to 20 years recruiting medical professionals in per diem, travel and permanent positions; winning awards, such as top recruiter and attending Presidents club functions six times. I feel that I have seen the industry change, the job market change and the candidate base change. The best thing I have done is change and grow with it.

After spending close to 12 years with my previous company I made the decision to leave. I understand that change is scary and sometime necessary to meet your needs and grow. My approach is a consultative one. I think everyone should love their job as much as I love mine.

I am married with one son. We also have two dogs, two cats, a large bird, two turtles and both fresh and saltwater fish. We are animal lovers. I also enjoy boating, being outside in the winter months, reading, and watching movies in the summer.

One of my favorite books is “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Albom. This book made me realize that you never know how you impact someone’s life but you do every day with everyone you encounter.

Staff Sgt. James Slough, the Harrisburg Opportunity Center assistant commander, shows Army opportunities to applicants at the Harrisburg Opportunity Center in Harrisburg. An interactive video system, the Career Navigator is a tool that shows young men and women a visual of the more than 150 jobs in the Army. Each job opportunity is explained through an action-packed video and narration from an actual Soldier currently doing that particular job in the Army. The navigator also shows and explains other important information pertaining to being a Soldier, such as pay scales as one’s career advances in the Army. The Career Navigator is portable and recruiters can take it to schools and community activities and give high-tech, attention-getting presentations. These Career Navigator interactive videos can also be shown on palm-held convergent devices to young men and women hanging out at the mall, watching a football game or just out in the community.
