This is a spin-off from a commissioned image based on an original provided by Martin Vonk. The white base colour has limited what I could do with it. Many large recovery companies own American wreckers - as much for show as for sheer muscle - and most operate a couple of tractor units, though not of American origin. Introduced in 2007, the heavy-duty Freightliner Cascadia is the flagship model of Daimler Trucks North America. It was sold mainly in North America until 2020, when an export version was introduced for the Australian and New Zealand markets (01-Sep-22).

Not a great shot, but it was rushed with my phone.
My work's Vauxhall Movano recovery truck broke down today on the M55 just outside Preston, on it's way back from it's second trip of the day from Wigan.
At this stage it's not been investigated, so we're not exactly sure what's happened, but the driver (who has done the majority of the 70,000 miles covered in this thing in the 3 years it's been owned by the auction) seems to think it's an electrical fault.
Ironic really, as I went out on the first trip to Wigan in it this morning, and we were saying how tired it's getting now, and debating how much longer it'll last...
It regularly makes trips to Burnley, and to get there has to go up a steep hill, which it really seems to struggle to climb.
It's now on 245,000 miles. At it's MOT just before christmas, it was on 241,000.

I embraced & collected self-help manuals like others collect CDs. I collected every bit of self-help advice available. All of it. The book shelves grew & buckled. I took notes, summarised them, designed them, framed them, made books of them (for home use & the convenient pocket sized). Each part of practical & spiritual (broadly defined) life was catered for. I took courses on this & that practice, sat in parks & woods, flew kites, rolled down hills & kicked through puddles. I published a few pieces, helped out with some design work, prepared for 'real' work thinking of all the people I could now be.
Sitting in Bishops yard contemplating its future, glad to repot its now in the hands of a Diamond T preservationist and is in fine fettle
