DA NANG, Vietnam (Aug. 22, 2015) Vietnamese medical professionals attend a restorative medicine summit at the Da Nang Northern Hotel during Pacific Partnership 2015. Topics covered included burn reconstruction, hair restoration, orthopedic injury treatment, polytrauma and rehabilitation, physical therapy, and occupational therapy. The hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) is currently in Vietnam for its fourth mission port of Pacific Partnership. PP15 is in its 10th iteration and is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. While training for crisis conditions, Pacific Partnership missions to date have provided real world medical care to approximately 270,000 patients and veterinary services to more than 38,000 animals. The girl received reconstructive procedures from a previous Pacific Partnership mission after suffering widespread burns, and the father brought her to the summit to express his gratitude for the medical care.
